  • the product wrapper 6 can be provided as an overwrap over packaging 11 such as a cigarette pack as shown in figures 1 and 2 .
  • a tab 9 is provided on the product wrapper 6 such that an end portion of the band 2 is within the tab 9, thereby forming the starting or grasping end of the tear-tape 1.
  • a user of the product within the packaging 11 can grasp the tab 9 to remove the tear-tape 1 from the wrapper 6. Pulling on the tab 9 initiates a first stage of the opening of the wrapper 6, wherein the band 2 breaks the wrapper 6, along a first linear direction, in a clean linear cut at a first angle relative to the packaging 11 until the intersection 8 of the branches 3, 4 is reached, the intersection 8 being located over a main face of the packaging 11.
  • the location of the intersection 8 between the distal ends of the main band 2 of the tear-tape 1 is preferably located at a distance from the distal ends of the main band 2.
  • the intersection 8 may be located mid-way along the component of main band 2 that extends over a main face of the packaging 11.
  • a particular advantage of this arrangement is that it ensures that, when the wrapper 6 is placed over packaging 11, the ends of the band 2, forming the first branch 3 of the tear-tape 1, are located adjacent to a first face of the packaging 11, preferably a side face of a cigarette packaging 11 as shown in the figures. Meanwhile, the intersection 8 overlies a main face 7 of said packaging 11 which is adjacent to the first face. This configuration ensures proper initiation of the wrapper opening process during the first stage and complete removal of said wrapper 6 starting from the intersection 8 during the second stage of the opening.
  • the present invention provides a tear tape and associated outer wrap for a product which is simple and cost effective to manufacture, yet which is also beneficial to an end consumer in terms of improved removal of the wrapper and access to the contents of internal packaging.

Claims (10)

  1. Produkthülle (6) für eine Packung, die aus einer Bahn aus reißbarem Material gebildet ist und einen Aufreißstreifen (1) zum Öffnen der Produkthülle umfasst, wobei der Aufreißstreifen mindestens zwei Bänder (2, 5) umfasst, die auf einer Oberfläche (7) der Produkthülle vorzusehen sind und einander kreuzen, um mindestens zwei einander kreuzende Zweige (3, 4) zu bilden, wobei sich ein Ende eines ersten Bands (2) innerhalb einer in der Produkthülle vorgesehenen Lasche (9) befindet, wobei die Kreuzungsstelle (8) zwischen den Zweigen zwischen distalen Enden des ersten Bands liegt, sodass sich im Gebrauch nur ein Band über eine Ecke oder eine gefalteten Kante der Packung erstreckt und das Öffnen der Produkthülle einem ersten Öffnungsstadium entlang dem ersten Zweig, von einem ersten Ende davon folgt, gefolgt von einem zweiten Stadium entlang den zwei sich kreuzenden Zweigen, von der Kreuzungsstelle bis zu einem zweiten Ende des ersten Zweigs und/oder einem Ende des zweiten Zweigs.
  2. Produkthülle (6) nach Anspruch 1, wobei die mindestens zwei einander kreuzenden Zweige aus mindestens zwei getrennten Klebebändern (2, 5) hergestellt sind.
  3. Produkthülle (6) nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, wobei der Winkel α zwischen den mindestens zwei einander kreuzenden Zweigen (3, 4) zwischen 1° und 80° beträgt, bevorzugt zwischen 5° und 75° und noch besser zwischen 35° und 55°.
  4. Produkthülle (6) nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, wobei die mindestens zwei Zweige einander kreuzen, um eine sich zwischen distalen Enden des ersten der zwei einander kreuzenden Zweige liegende Y-förmige Verzweigungsstelle (8) zu bilden.
  5. Produkthülle (6) nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, wobei mindestens einer der zwei Zweige (3, 4) linear ist oder mindestens ein lineares Segment umfasst, das von einem Ende des Aufreißstreifens ausgeht.
  6. Verfahren zum Produzieren einer Produkthülle (6) für eine Packung, die aus einer Bahn aus reißbarem Material hergestellt wird, nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 5, wobei der Aufreißstreifen aus mindestens zwei einander kreuzenden Bändern hergestellt wird, wobei das Verfahren folgende Schritte umfasst:
    Positionieren eines ersten Bands des Aufreißstreifens auf einer Oberfläche der Bahn aus reißbarem Material und Kleben desselben an die Bahn, um den zweiten Zweig des Aufreißstreifens zu bilden, sodass sich ein Ende des ersten Bands innerhalb der in der Bahn aus reißbarem Material vorgesehenen Lasche befindet, und
    Positionieren eines zweiten Bands auf derselben Oberfläche der Bahn, um den ersten Zweig des Aufreißstreifens zu bilden, sodass sich seine distalen Enden zwischen gegenüberliegenden Seiten der Bahn erstrecken und das zweite Band das erste Band an mindestens einem seiner Enden kreuzt, um eine Y-förmige Verzweigungsstelle zwischen den zwei Bänden zwischen den distalen Enden des ersten Zweigs zu bilden; und
    Kleben des zweiten Bands an die Bahn und das erste Band.
  7. Verfahren nach Anspruch 6, wobei die mindestens zwei einander kreuzenden Zweige aus mindestens zwei getrennten Klebebändern hergestellt werden.
  8. Verfahren nach Anspruch 6 oder 7, weiter umfassend einen Schritt des Schneidens der Bahn aus reißbarem Material neben einem Ende des sich zwischen zwei gegenüberliegenden Seiten der Bahn erstreckenden ersten Zweigs des Aufreißstreifens, um eine Aufreißlasche in der Hülle vorzusehen und Schneiden der Bahn aus Material und Wickeln eines einzelnen geschnittenen Abschnitts des Bahnmaterials um ein Packung, sodass die distalen Enden des ersten Zweigs benachbart einer ersten Stirnseite der Packung liegen und die Abzweigungsstelle zwischen den zwei Zweigen auf einer Stirnseite benachbart der ersten Stirnseite der Packung liegt.
  9. Verfahren nach Anspruch 8, wobei es sich bei der Packung um eine Zigarettenpackung handelt.
  10. Vorrichtung zum Ausführen des Verfahrens nach einem der Ansprüche 6 bis 9, wobei die Vorrichtung Folgendes umfasst:
    Walzen zum Transportieren einer Folienbahn von einer Rolle (33);
    eine Spule (31) von Aufreißfaden (1) und eine rollende Schneidklingenkomponente (32), die unter einem Winkel zur Bewegungsrichtung geneigt ist, sodass die einzelnen Bänder (5) unter einem Winkel zur Bewegungsrichtung der Folie an einer ersten Stelle A aufgebracht werden;
    eine Spule (34) von Band (2) zum Aufbringen des Bands auf die Folie an einer zweiten Stelle B an einer Kreuzungsstelle mit jeweiligem einzelnem Band; und
    eine Schneidklinge (35) zum Schneiden einzelner Abschnitte von Folie zusammen mit den einen Aufreißstreifen bildenden geklebten Bändern.
