The present invention relates to a contact member for establishing an electrical contact between a support comprising a first electrical circuit and a first device comprising a second electrical circuit, the contact element comprising:
  • a base extending substantially in a plane and having a first surface to be fixed on the support, and a second surface opposite the first surface in a normal direction substantially perpendicular to said plane, the second surface being intended to be located in a screw to the first device, and

The invention also relates to an electrical connector comprising a support and at least one such contact member.

The electrical connector is for example an interposer intended to electrically connect two devices comprising electrical circuits.

Such contact members must have excellent electrical properties, for example in terms of high frequency signal transmission and low contact resistance.

There is also a tendency to miniaturize such contact members. However, given this miniaturization, the attachment of such contact members on the support is increasingly difficult.

Un tel connecteur électrique 1 est parfois appelé « interposeur ».With reference to Figures 1 and 2 , a connector 1 is described for making an electrical contact between a first device 10 and a second device 20. Such an electrical connector 1 is sometimes called "interposer".

The support 30 is for example substantially plane. It has a substantially rectangular general shape in projection on the plane P. The general shape of the support 30 is elongate in a first longitudinal direction L1 parallel to the plane P.

A normal direction N substantially perpendicular to the plane P is also defined, and a first transverse direction T1 substantially perpendicular to the first longitudinal direction and substantially perpendicular to the normal direction N.

The support 30 has a first face 34 ( figure 2 ) intended to be vis-à-vis the first device 10, and a second face 36 opposite the first face 34 in the normal direction N and intended to be vis-à-vis the second device 20.

According to a particular embodiment (not shown), the support 30 is a printed circuit.

The plate 38 is for example Kapton or FR-4 covered with a copper layer. The copper layer is etched to reveal one or more desired electrical circuits.

Dans l'exemple représenté, le premier circuit électrique 40 comprend en outre une pluralité de via 44 s'étendant selon la direction normale N.The first electrical circuit 40 comprises a plurality of reception pads 42 arranged on the first face 34 and the second face 36, for example symmetrically with respect to a median plane P 'of the support 30. In the example shown, the first electrical circuit 40 further comprises a plurality of via 44 extending in the normal direction N.

Each via 44 is defined by a hole made in the plate 38, then metallized.

The via 44 electrically connect in pairs the reception areas 42 symmetrical with respect to the median plane P '.

The reception areas 42 are for example made of tin / lead alloy. The reception areas 42 receive respectively the contact members 32. The reception areas 42 are substantially parallel to the plane P. The reception areas 42 have for example a general shape in "U", the legs of the "U" extending in a second longitudinal direction L2 substantially parallel to the plane P.

According to variants not shown, the reception range 42 has a general shape in "C", or in solid rectangle, or disk.

L'angle α est par exemple d'environ 45°.As visible on the figure 1 , the second longitudinal direction L2 advantageously forms with the first longitudinal direction L1 an angle α of between 40 ° and 50 °. The angle α is for example about 45 °.

On définit en outre une seconde direction transversale T2 sensiblement perpendiculaire à la seconde direction longitudinale L2 et sensiblement perpendiculaire à la direction normale N.Further defined is a second transverse direction T2 substantially perpendicular to the second longitudinal direction L2 and substantially perpendicular to the normal direction N.

On each of the first face 34 and the second face 36 of the support 30, the plurality of contact members 32 define two rows 50, 52 ( figure 1 ) oriented substantially in the first longitudinal direction L1. In addition, two additional contact members 32 with respect to the rows 50, 52 are respectively located at two ends of the support 30 in the first longitudinal direction L1.

The two additional contact members 32 are substantially equidistant from the two rows 50, 52 in the first transverse direction T1.

The contact members 32 being similar to each other, only one of them, located on the first face 34 of the support 30, will be described below with reference to the Figures 4 and 5 .

L'embase 60 comporte en outre un orifice 64 selon la direction normale N.The contact member 32 shown on the Figures 4 and 5 comprises a base 60 extending substantially in the plane P, and at least one tongue 62 integral with the base 60. The base 60 further comprises an orifice 64 in the normal direction N.

The base 60 has a larger dimension D less than or equal to 1 mm, for example between 0.4 and 0.8 mm. For example, the largest dimension D extends along the second longitudinal direction L2.

The base 60 comprises a first surface 66 fixed on one of the receiving surfaces 42 of the first face 34 of the support 30, and a second surface 68 opposite the first surface in the normal direction N and located opposite screw of the first device 10.

L'embase 60 comprend en outre deux parties latérales 69 située de part et d'autre de l'orifice 64 selon la seconde direction transversale T2.The base 60 further comprises two lateral portions 69 located on either side of the orifice 64 in the second transverse direction T2.

La première surface 66 et la deuxième surface 68 sont par exemple sensiblement parallèles au plan P (figure 5).The first surface 66 and the second surface 68 are for example substantially parallel to the plane P ( figure 5 ).

The second surface 68 includes a gripping surface 70 of generally rectangular or square shape.

La surface de préhension s'étend sur au moins 0,01 mm2.The gripping surface 70 is located in the base of the "U" formed by the reception zone 42 in projection on the plane P ( figure 4 ). The gripping surface 70 has a short side 72 and a long side 74 ( figure 4 ). The gripping surface extends over at least 0.01 mm 2 .

The short side 72 has a length D1 greater than or equal to 0.1 mm, preferably greater than or equal to 0.2 mm.

The lateral portions 69 of the base 60 are located, in projection on the plane P, in the legs of the "U" formed by the reception area 42.

L'embase 60 présente, en tout point de la surface de préhension 70, une épaisseur E (figure 4) selon la direction normale N inférieure ou égale à 0,25 mm.The base 60 has, at any point on the gripping surface 70, a thickness E ( figure 4 ) in the normal direction N less than or equal to 0.25 mm.

La languette 62 est configurée de manière à obturer en partie l'orifice 64 en vue selon la direction normale N.The tongue 62 protrudes from a first edge 76 of the orifice 64 to a second edge 78 of the orifice 64. The tongue 62 is configured to partially seal the orifice 64 in view in the normal direction NOT.

Similarly, the tongue 62 of the contact members 32 located on the second face 36 of the support 30 is intended to be in electrical contact with a third electric circuit 81 of the second device 20.

The tongue 62 is flexible between a rest position, represented on the Figures 4 and 5 , wherein a distal end 82 of the tongue 62 is located away from the base 60 on the side of the second surface 68 in the normal direction N, and a bent position (not shown) intended to be occupied when the The distal end 82 is in contact with the first device 10 and in which the distal end 82 is closer to the base 60 in the normal direction N than in the rest position.

The tongue 62 is adapted so that the distal end 82 moves at least 0.07 mm towards the base 60 in the normal direction N when a force of 0.25 newton is applied to the distal end 82 according to the normal direction N.

In the rest position, the distal end 82 of the tongue 62 is located at a distance of about 0.15 mm from the first surface 66 of the base 60 in the normal direction N. The distal end 82 advantageously occupies a substantially central position relative to the base 60 in projection in the normal direction N.

The base of the "U" is preferably turned towards the gripping surface 70, the tongue 62 forming the interior of the "U".

Dans la position de repos, la languette 62 est située à l'écart de la plage de réception 42 sur laquelle est situé l'organe de contact 32, de sorte qu'il n'y a pas de contact électrique direct entre la languette 62 et la plage de réception 42.In the rest position, the tongue 62 is located away from the reception area 42 on which the contact member 32 is located, so that there is no direct electrical contact between the tongue 62 and the reception range 42.

Le premier bord 76 de l'orifice 64 est situé de l'autre côté du deuxième bord 78 par rapport à la surface de préhension 70 selon la seconde direction longitudinale L2.The first edge 76 of the orifice 64 is located on the other side of the second edge 78 with respect to the gripping surface 70 in the second longitudinal direction L2.

The base 60 and the tongue 62 form a plate 90 comprising a first layer 92 substantially parallel to the plane (P), a second layer 94 located on the first layer 92 on the side of the second surface 68 of the base 60, and a third layer 96 located on the first layer on the side of the first surface 66.

The plate 90 ( figure 5 ) further comprises a first coating 98 forming the second surface 68, and a second coating 100 forming the first surface.

The first layer 92 is composed of a metal alloy comprising copper at least 50% by mass.

The second layer 94 and the third layer 96 comprise nickel or a nickel alloy, at least 50% by weight.

Le premier revêtement 98 est composé d'or, ou d'un alliage d'or à au moins 90% en masse. The first coating 98 is composed of gold, or a gold alloy at least 90% by weight.

The second coating 100 is composed of tin, or a tin alloy at least 40% by weight, or gold, or a gold alloy at least 90% by weight.

The operation of the connector 1 and each contact member 32 will now be described.

The connector 1 is interposed between the first device 10 and the second device 20 ( figure 2 ). The contact members 32 located on the first face 34 of the support 30 are in electrical contact with the second circuit 80 by their tongue 62. Similarly, the contact members 32 located on the second face 36 are brought into contact with the third circuit 81 by their tongue 62.

When in electrical contact, the tongues 62 of the contact members 32 pass from the rest position to the bent position.

The electrical contact between the second electrical circuit 80 and the third electrical circuit is successively by the tongue 62 of one of the contact members 32 located on the first face 34 of the support 30, then by the base 60 of said contact member 32 , then by the reception area 42 on which is fixed said contact member 32, then by one of via 44 ( figure 3 ), then by the reception area 42 located on the second face 36 of the support 30 and symmetrical to the preceding one with respect to the plane P ', then by the base 60 of the contact member 32 situated on the second face 36 and symmetrical of the preceding relative to the plane P ', and finally by the tongue 62 of this contact member 32.

A method of manufacturing connector 1 will now be described.

A first step is to produce a large plate (not shown) to be cut to form the plate 90. To do this, a layer equivalent to the second layer 94 and a layer equivalent to the third layer 96 are deposited on an equivalent layer at the first layer 92.

Les revêtements 98, 100 sont alors déposés.The coatings 98, 100 are then deposited.

Puis la grande plaque est découpée de façon à former le pourtour de l'embase 60 de plusieurs organes de contact 32.Orifices are provided in the large plate to define the orifice 64 and the tongue 62 of each contact member 32. Then the large plate is cut so as to form the periphery of the base 60 of several contact members 32.

Each tongue 62 is slightly twisted at its proximal end 79 to put each tongue 62 in the home position.

This makes it possible to produce a plurality of contact members 32 by cutting from the large plate.

Selon une variante, le dépôt des revêtements 98, 100 a lieu après la découpe de chaque organe de contact 32.According to one variant, the deposition of the coatings 98, 100 takes place after the cutting of each contact member 32.

The manufacture of the support 30 is known per se and will not be described in detail.

The contact members 32 are placed on the receiving surfaces 42 by means of a suction nozzle (not shown) which is applied on the gripping surface 70. By a suction effect, the contact member 32 stay glued to the end of the suction nozzle. The contact member 32 is then easily placed on the receiving surface 42 by the gripping surface 70 by a displacement of the suction nozzle. Each contact member 32 is then welded to the support 30 by brazing the connector 1 in an oven (not shown) according to a method known per se.

Two electrodes (not shown) are placed on the gripping surface 70 to circulate a current in the base 60. This heats the base 60 of the contact member 32 and the receiving area 42 and causes the base 60 to be welded to the reception area 42.

Thanks to the features described above, in particular the gripping surface 70, the contact member 32, which makes an electrical contact between the support 30 and the first device 10, is easy to place and fix on the support 30, all retaining good electrical properties of signal transmission.

In particular, the contact member 32 is adapted to very well transmit electrical signals up to a frequency of 18 GHz.

The electrical resistance measured between the distal ends 82 of two tabs 62 belonging to two contact members 32 facing each other in the normal direction N is advantageously less than 20 mΩ.
