Description

  • Die Erfindung betrifft einen Isolierkörper eines Steckverbinders nach dem Oberbegriff des Anspruchs 1.
  • Isolierkörper werden in dafür vorgesehene Kammern eines Steckverbindergehäuses eingesetzt oder von einem passenden Steckverbindergehäuse umgeben. In der Regel umfassen die Isolierkörper auch Kontaktelemente, an welche die einzelnen Leiter eines an den Steckverbinder anzuschließenden Kabels angeschlossen werden.
  • Innerhalb des Isolierkörpers werden die einzelnen Leiter des angeschlossenen Kabels häufig in Kabelkanälen geführt. Derartige Isolierkörper werden benötigt, um mehrpolige Steckverbinder für analoge oder digitale Datenübertragung zu schaffen.
  • Bei herkömmlichen Steckverbindern, insbesondere bei RJ45-Steckverbindern, werden die einzelnen Leiter des anzuschließenden Kabels aus Platzgründen häufig sehr nahe nebeneinander geführt, was zu einem so genannten Übersprechen der über die Leiter transportierten Datensignale und damit insgesamt zu einer schlechten Datenübertragungsqualität führt.
  • Die WO 01/08268 A1 zeigt einen Isolierkörper, der aus einem so genannten Schirmteil und einem so genannten Kabelmanager gebildet ist.
  • Die US 6 238 235 B1 zeigt einen Kabelmanager für Kabelpaare.
  • Die US 2008 268 708 A1 zeigt einen Isolierkörper für einen Steckverbinder, wobei in den Isolierkörper in welchen Kontaktelemente eingeführt werden können.
  • Die DE 10 2007 006 204 B3 zeigt einen Leiterplattenstecker, der aus einem Grundmaterial gebildet ist, welches mithilfe der MID-Technik metallisch beschichtet werden kann.
  • Die EP 0 969 565 A1 zeigt einen Isolierkörper mit einzelnen Kanälen, in denen Kontaktelemente eingeführt werden können. Die Innenwände der Kanäle sind metallisiert.
  • Die US 2011 104 934 A1 zeigt einen Isolierkörper der metallisierte Kanäle zur Abschirmung der einzelnen Leiter aufweist.
  • Die Abschirmung der einzelnen Leiter oder Kontaktelemente soll ein Übersprechen der Datensignale verhindern. Oftmals reicht eine einfache Abschirmung jedoch nicht aus.
  • Auf dem Markt gibt es einen Trend zu einem Datentransfer mit immer höheren Übertragungsfrequenzen, wobei herkömmliche Steckverbinder einen unzureichenden Qualitätsaspekt aufweisen.
  • Die vorliegende Erfindung stellt einen Isolierkörper für einen Steckverbinder vor, der trotz kleiner Abmaße eine verbesserte Datenübertragungs- oder Signalqualität gewährleistet.
  • Die Aufgabe wird durch die kennzeichnenden Merkmale des Anspruchs 1 gelöst.
  • Vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen der Erfindung sind in den Unteransprüchen angegeben.
  • Der erfindungsgemäße Isolierkörper ist zumindest teilweise aus metallisierbarem Kunststoff gefertigt. Im Isolierkörper ist zumindest ein Kanal eingebracht, der zur Aufnahme eines Leiters eines anzuschließenden Kabels vorgesehen ist. In der Regel werden im Isolierkörper zwei oder mehr solcher Kanäle vorhanden sein, die jeweils zur Aufnahme eines Leiters eines mehradrigen Kabels geeignet sind.
  • Die Innenwand eines solchen Leiterkanals wird mit einem leitenden Überzug versehen. In diesem Fall steht der leitende Überzug in Kontakt mit der Isolierung des einzelnen Leiters. Es ist aber auch denkbar die Außenwand eines solchen Leiterkanals mit dem leitenden Überzug zu versehen. Bislang wurden für diesen Zweck beispielsweise Metallhülsen eingesetzt, die in den Leiterkanal eingeschoben wurden.
  • Tests haben gezeigt, dass eine vollständige Metallisierung aller Leiterkanäle eines Isolierkörpers eines Steckverbinders überraschenderweise keine wesentliche Verbesserung des Übersprechverhaltens des Steckverbinders hervorgerufen hat. Je nach Steckverbindertyp (RJ45, Rundsteckverbinder achtpolig oder zwölfpolig, etc.) kann es vorteilhaft sein einzelne Kanäle vollständig und andere Kanäle nur teilweise mit dem leitenden Überzug zu versehen.
  • Vorteilhafterweise ist der leitende Überzug des zumindest einen Kanals durch MID-Technik realisiert.
  • Die MID-Technologie (Moulded Interconnection Devices) wird hauptsächlich verwendet um komplexe, 3-dimensionale Leiterbahnstrukturen auf Bauteilen zu erzeugen, die Leiterplattenfunktionalität zur Verfügung stellen.
  • In der MID-Technologie sind verschiedene Verfahren bekannt. Das LDS-Verfahren ist in der Patentanmeldung DE 101 32 092 A1 beschrieben. Es werden beispielsweise Flüssigkristallpolymere, sogenannte LCP (Liquid Crystal Polymer), eingesetzt, die im Spritzgussverfahren zu Bauteilen geformt werden. Durch Bestrahlung mit einem Laser werden gezielt die Bereiche aktiviert, auf welchen Leiterbahnstrukturen entstehen sollen. Durch die Bestrahlung mit dem Laser wird Metall (z.B. Palladium), das chemisch im Polymer gebunden ist, aktiviert, wobei sich Metallkeime an der Oberfläche bilden. In einem chemischen Bad bildet sich anschließend durch stromlose, chemische Abscheidung an den gebildeten Metallkeimen eine leitende Metallschicht. Die erste Kupferschicht dient im Wesentlichen der Leitfähigkeit. Um eine noch bessere elektrische Leitfähigkeit zu erzielen, können noch weitere metallische Schichten abgeschieden. Diese weiteren Schichten dienen außerdem der mechanischen Stabilität und dem Korrosionsschutz.
  • Alternativ kann der metallisierbare Kunststoff in einem zwei-Komponenten-Spritzgussverfahren hergestellt sein.
  • Bei der zwei-Komponenten-MID-Technik wird im ersten Verfahrensschritt ein metallisierbarer Thermoplast, beispielsweise ein mit Palladium dotierter Kunststoff, in ein Werkzeug gespritzt, wobei die mit einem leitenden Überzug zu versehene Fläche abgebildet wird. Im zweiten Verfahrensschritt werden die Bereiche zwischen und um diese(n) Flächen mit einem nichtmetallisierbaren Thermoplasten umspritzt, wodurch das Werkstück - hier der Isolierkörper - seine endgültige Form erhält. Anschließend erfolgt die selektive Metallisierung der mit einem leitenden Überzug zu versehenen Flächen in einem chemischen Bad. Dabei haftet an der Dotierung ein metallischer Stoff, vorzugsweise Kupfer oder eine Kupferlegierung. Auf die Kupferoberfläche können in weiteren Arbeitsschritten, beispielsweise in galvanischen Bädern, andere Metallverbindungen aufgebracht werden.
  • Vorteilhafterweise wird der erfindungsgemäße Isolierkörper in einem RJ-45 Steckverbinder eingesetzt. An RJ-45 Steckverbindern werden mehradrige Kabel angeschlossen, dessen einzelne Leiter von einer Schirmfolie umgeben und untereinander verdrillt sind. Dadurch wird eine Signalkopplung (Übersprechen) verhindert.
  • Um die einzelnen Leiter des anzuschließenden Kabels zu den Kontakten des Isolierkörpers zu führen, muss die Schirmung der einzelnen Leiter entfernt und die Verdrillung aufgetrennt werden. Die fehlende Isolierung einiger Leiter innerhalb eines Isolierkörpers ohne Leiterkanäle mit einem leitenden Überzug führt zu Qualitätsverlusten bei der Signalübertragung, insbesondere bei hohen Übertragungsfrequenzen.
  • Die erfindungsgemäßen, mit einem leitenden Überzug versehenen Leiterkanäle schirmen die einzelnen Leiter des angeschlossenen Kabels gegeneinander ab, so dass die Signalqualität deutlich steigt.
  • In einer vorteilhaften Ausführungsform der Erfindung sind die Kanäle nur teilweise mit einem leitenden Überzug versehen. Mit "teilweise" ist in diesem Fall gemeint, dass die Kanäle nicht in ihrer vollständigen axialen Länge mit einem leitenden Überzug versehen sind. Tests haben gezeigt, dass das Übersprechverhalten von RJ45-Steckverbindern deutlich verbessert wird, wenn nur 75% der axialen Länge der Kanäle mit einem leitenden Überzug versehen ist. Es kann auch vorteilhaft sein, wenn nur 50% der axialen Länge der Kanäle mit einem leitenden Überzug versehen ist.
  • In einer weiteren vorteilhaften Ausführungsform ist lediglich eine Seite des Kanals mit einem leitenden Überzug versehen. Die Seitentrennung der Kanäle erfolgt entlang ihrer axialen Achse. Auch hier ist der Kanal (oder die Kanäle) nur teilweise mit einem leitenden Überzug versehen. Diese Ausführungsform entsteht beispielsweise dadurch, dass der Isolierkörper zweiteilig ausgeführt ist und nur eine Hälfte aus metallisierbarem Material gefertigt ist.
  • Es kann auch vorteilhaft sein, wenn einige Kanäle im Isolierkörper in ihrer axialen Länge vollständig und andere Kanäle wiederum nur teilweise (75%, 50%) mit einem leitenden Überzug versehen werden. Je nachdem wie die Leiter im Isolierkörper des Steckverbinders zueinander angeordnet sind, können die Kanäle in ihrer axialen Länge unterschiedlich mit einem leitenden Überzug versehen sein. Dadurch kann ein Steckverbinder mit einem geringen Übersprechen realisiert werden.
  • In einer weiteren vorteilhaften Ausführungsform sind die leitenden Überzüge der einzelnen Leiterkanäle über eine Leiterbahn mit einem metallischen Gehäuse eines Steckverbinders verbunden. Die Leiterbahn wird vorteilhafterweise ebenfalls mit der oben dargestellten MID-Technik hergestellt und ist damit ebenfalls im Isolierkörper eingebracht.
  • Wie bereits oben erwähnt werden mehrere Kanäle im Isolierkörper mit einem leitenden Überzug versehen sein. Vorteilhafterweise sind zumindest zwei mit dem leitenden Überzug versehene Kanäle untereinander und zusätzlich mit dem Steckverbindergehäuse über eine leitende Verbindung elektrisch kontaktiert.
  • Im Folgenden wird ein Ausführungsbeispiel anhand einer schematischen Zeichnung dargestellt. Die Erfindung ist jedoch nicht auf ein solches Ausführungsbeispiel beschränkt.
  • Zu sehen ist ein schematischer Querschnitt eines Isolierkörpers 5 eines Steckverbinders (nicht gezeigt). Der Isolierkörper 5 umfasst Kontaktelemente 2. Die einzelnen Leiter eines an den Steckverbinder anzuschließendes Kabels, werden in Kanälen 3 des Isolierkörpers 5 eingebracht.
  • Mithilfe eines MID-Verfahrens sind die einzelnen Kanäle 3 mit einem leitenden Überzug 4 versehen. In axialer Ausrichtung des Isolierkörpers 5 ist der leitende Überzug 4 unterschiedlich lang ausgebildet. Die Länge des leitenden Überzugs in den Kanälen kann abhängig vom Übersprechverhalten des einzelnen Steckverbinders gewählt werden. Bei einem RJ45-Steckverbinder werden die mittleren Kanäle beispielsweise nur zu 50% bis 75% in ihrer Länge mit einem leitenden Überzug versehen.
  • Der Isolierkörper umfasst außerdem eine leitende Verbindung (nicht gezeigt), die die einzelnen, mit einem leitenden Überzug 4 versehenen Kanäle 3 untereinander leitend verbindet. Außerdem steht die Leiterbahn in leitendem Kontakt mit einem metallischen Steckverbindergehäuse und/oder mit dem Nullleiter des anzuschließenden Kabels.
  • Sofern das anzuschließende Kabel eine Schirmung umfasst, kann diese auch mit der Leiterbahn des Isolierkörpers verbunden sein.

Claims (8)

  1. Isolierkörper eines Steckverbinders (1) zur Datenübertragung,
    • wobei der Isolierkörper (5) zumindest teilweise aus metallisierbaren Kunststoff gefertigt ist,
    • wobei der Isolierkörper (5) zumindest einen Kanal (3) umfasst, welcher zur Aufnahme eines Leiters vorgesehen ist und
    • wobei zumindest ein Kanal (3) mit einem leitenden Überzug (4) versehen ist
    dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
    • der Kanal (3) oder die Kanäle (3) nur teilweise mit einem leitenden Überzug (4) versehen sind,
    oder
    • zumindest ein Kanal (3) vollständig und zumindest ein Kanal (3) teilweise mit einem leitenden Überzug (4) versehen ist.
  2. Isolierkörper nach Anspruch 1
    dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
    der leitende Überzug (4) des zumindest einen Kanals (3) durch MID-Technik realisiert ist.
  3. Isolierkörper nach einem der vorstehenden Ansprüche
    dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
    • zumindest zwei Kanäle (3) vorhanden sind, die jeweils zur Aufnahme eines Leiters eines mehradrigen Kabels vorgesehen sind
    • und dass die Leiter des mehradrigen Kabels durch den leitenden Überzug (4) der Kanäle gegeneinander elektromagnetisch abschirmt sind.
  4. Isolierkörper nach einem der vorstehenden Ansprüche
    dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
    es sich beim Steckverbinder (1) um einen RJ-45 Stecker handelt.
  5. Isolierkörper nach einem der vorstehenden Ansprüche
    gekennzeichnet durch
    eine im Isolierkörper (5) eingebrachte Leiterbahn, die den zumindest einen mit einem leitenden Überzug (4) versehenen Kanal (3) mit dem Steckverbindergehäuse leitend verbindet.
  6. Isolierkörper nach vorstehendem Anspruch
    dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
    die im Isolierkörper (5) eingebrachte Leiterbahn durch MID-Technik realisiert ist.
  7. Isolierkörper nach einem der beiden vorstehenden Ansprüche
    dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
    zumindest zwei mit einem leitenden Überzug (4) versehenen Kanäle (3) und das Steckverbindergehäuse (1) über die Leiterbahn miteinander elektrisch kontaktiert sind.
  8. Isolierkörper nach einem der drei vorstehenden Ansprüche
    dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
    die Leiterbahn mit der Schirmung des anzuschließenden Kabels verbunden ist.
