Da die einzelnen Außen- und Innenrohre jeweils nur mit einer bestimmten Länge, nämlich der der Lafette zur Verfügung stehen, müssen nach entsprechendem Bohrfortschritt sowohl ein Innen- wie auch ein Außenrohr an den bereits im Boden befindlichen Bohrstrang angeschlossen werden. Hierzu dienen Gestängemagazine, in denen in das Außenrohr eingeschobene Innenrohre vorgehalten werden.
