EP 2 495 363 describes a clothes dryer with a cleaning device for removing lint from the lint filter. In this way lint can be sucked from the first side of the lint filter. In the lint separator the extracted lint is removed and deposited in a lint container. Then the air is transported to the air return.

JP 2004 081717 describes a clothes dryer in which the air for cleaning device of the lint filter is driven via the process air fan.

Darstellung der ErfindungPresentation of the invention

It has as its object to provide a tumble dryer of the type mentioned, which allows improved cleaning of the lint filter. This object is achieved by the tumble dryer according to claim 1.

Accordingly, the clothes dryer has a cleaning device for the lint filter. This cleaning device has the following components:
  • A suction nozzle arranged on a first side of the lint filter. This serves to suck lint from the lint filter.
  • An air return located on a second side of the lint filter. The second side faces the first side of the lint filter. The air return is used to return the sucked by the suction air into the process air duct. Advantageously, it is designed as a nozzle and arranged opposite the suction nozzle to assist the suction of the lint.
  • A connecting channel connecting the suction nozzle to the air return. This serves to guide the air from the intake nozzle to the air return.
  • A fluff separator arranged in the connection channel for separating lint from the air extracted from the suction nozzle.
  • In the connecting channel arranged conveying means in the form of a blower to promote air through the connecting channel from the suction nozzle through the lint separator for air return.
  • At least one closure valve arranged in the connection channel, in order optionally to prevent an air flow through the connection channel.

With the mentioned closure valve, the suction nozzle can be airtight separated from the air return so as to prevent air flow between the suction nozzle and the air return.

This design is based on the finding that in the drying operation of the device, the pressure drop across the lint filter without the closure valve (which increases with increasing filter contamination) leads to an air flow from the suction nozzle to the air return. This air flow passes through the lint and leads there to an undesirable water condensation, since the lint is usually cooler than the process air, whereby the function of the lint and thus the cleaning of the lint filter are impaired.

In many cases, the aforementioned connecting channel has a first portion extending from the suction nozzle to the lint separator and a second portion extending from the lint separator to the air return. In this case, a first and a second closure valve are advantageously provided, wherein the first closure valve in the first section and the second closure valve is in the second section. In this way, during normal operation of the device, the lint separator can be completely separated from the process air duct. This is advantageous because otherwise it is e.g. due to an overpressure in the process air duct to an air flow from the process air duct through the lint collector to the environment and thus in turn can lead to an undesirable condensation in the region of the separator. Alternatively, the Flusenabscheider can be made gas-tight relative to the environment, but this is associated with additional expense.

In a further advantageous embodiment, the closure valve has a more than 360 ° rotatable valve body in a valve housing, and a rotary drive for the valve body. The valve body has an input and an output connected to the connection channel are connected. The valve body has a passage which in an "open rotational position" of the valve body forms a connection between the inlet and outlet of the valve housing, while in a "closed rotational position" of the valve body of the valve body blocks the connection between the inlet and outlet of the valve housing. Next, the closure valve has a position sensor with which the open and / or closed rotational position of the valve body can be detected. This embodiment has the advantage that the rotary drive does not require a specific direction of rotation, so that a low-cost motor can be used, such as a synchronous motor.

The invention further relates to a method for operating a tumble dryer of this type. In the context of this method, in a normal operation, in which laundry is dried, the closure valve is kept closed in order to prevent the flow of air through the connection channel. On the other hand, in the cleaning operation in which the lint filter is cleaned, the shutter valve is kept open to allow the air flow through the communication passage. In this way it can be prevented in normal operation that moist process air enters the lint separator.

Wege zur Ausführung der ErfindungWays to carry out the invention

A tumble dryer of the type described here has, as in Fig. 1 and 2 shown, a housing 1, in which the remaining components of the device are arranged. In particular, in the housing 1 is a drum 2 with, for example, horizontal axis of rotation 3. The drum 2 serves to accommodate laundry and can be rotated about the axis of rotation 3 during operation. To the front, the drum 2 is closed by a user door, which is arranged on the front side 6 of the device. Next, a blower 3 is provided in the tumble dryer (see Fig. 2 ) to generate in the drum 2 with a process air flow. In most known devices, this process air flow passes through the drum 2 from the rear to the front and leaves the drum 2 through a perforated grid in the user door. The process air then flows through a lint filter 5 arranged, for example, in the user door or in the appliance base. The process air then passes through the process air treatment 6 in the base region of the appliance, which extracts water from the process air flow and supplies heat. For this purpose, the process air is usually initially cooled, so that there is a condensation of water comes, and then it is reheated. For cooling and heating, the evaporator and the condenser of a heat pump can be used in a known manner. Finally, the process air is fed back to the drum 2 via the blower 7.

The lint filter 5 is arranged in the process air duct 7 between the drum 2 and the process air treatment 6 and serves to retain lint in the process air. The lint filter 5 has a first side 8, through which the process air enters the lint filter 5, and a second, opposite side 9, through which the process air exits the filter again.

As in Fig. 2 1, a cleaning device 10 is provided in the region of the lint filter 5 with which the lint deposited on the first side 8 of the lint filter can be removed. In the present case, in particular a cleaning device of the in EP 2 495 363 be used type described.

Such a cleaning device has a suction nozzle 12, which is arranged on the first side of the lint filter 8, and an air return 13, which is located on the second side 9 of the lint filter 5 and in the present case as a suction nozzle 12 opposite return nozzle is configured.

The suction nozzle 12 and air return 13 are preferably as in EP 2 495 363 described, elongated and extend radially from the center to the periphery of the circular lint filter 5. The lint filter 5 can be rotated so that the entire surface of the lint filter 5 can be cleaned with the suction nozzle.

Between the suction nozzle 12 and the air return 13 extends a connecting channel, which comprises the components 14 - 17 described in more detail below.

First, the connecting channel has a first portion 14 which extends from the suction nozzle 12 to a fluff separator 15. The lint separator 15 serves to separate the lint contained in the air from the suction nozzle 12 into a suitable fluff container, and is eg in the lint EP 2 495 363 constructed kind shown. After the lint separator 15, the air passes via a fan 16 into a second section 17 of the channel, through which it flows to the air return line 13 and back into the process air duct 7.

As already mentioned, at least one closure valve is arranged in the connection channel 14 -17, with which the air flow through the connection channel can optionally be prevented or permitted. In the illustrated embodiment, two such closure valves 20, 21 are provided. The first closure valve 20 is located in the first section 14, while the second closure valve 21 is arranged in the second section 17. To actuate the closure valves 20, 21, a common valve drive 22 is provided in the present embodiment, which is controlled by a controller of the clothes dryer.

Fig. 3 - 7 zeigen eine bevorzugte Ausführung der Verschlussventile 20, 21. Fig. 3 - 7 show a preferred embodiment of the closure valves 20, 21. As can be seen, the closure valves 20, 21 have a common valve housing with a bottom part 25a and a cover part 25b. Each closure valve has an inlet 26 and an outlet 27 which are formed by the valve housing 25a, 25b and connected to the sections 14 and 17, respectively.

In the valve housing 25a, 25b, a valve body 28 is arranged, which is common in the present embodiment, two shut-off valves 20, 21. The valve body is freely rotatable about an axis of rotation 30 by more than 360 ° and can be driven by the valve drive 22 for rotation. The valve body 28 has two transverse to the axis of rotation 30 extending passages 31, of which a first the first closing valve 20 and a second is associated with the second closure valve 21.

The valve body 28 can be brought by the valve drive 22 in two different rotational positions:
  • In an open rotational position, which in Fig. 6 is shown, the passage 31 forms a connection between the inlet 26 and the outlet 27 in both closing valves 20, 21.
  • In a closed rotational position, in which the valve body 28 is rotated by 90 ° relative to the open rotational position and the in Fig. 7 is shown blocking the valve body in both shut-off valves, the connection between the input 26 and the output 27 by the passage 31 is in a position approximately perpendicular to this compound.

Ein zweiter Dichtungsring 35, und allenfalls weitere Dichtungsringe, dichtet bzw. dichten den Ventilkörper gegen aussen ab.The two closing valves 20, 21 are airtightly separated from each other by a first sealing ring 34 which is arranged between the valve body 28 and the housing 25a, 25b. A second sealing ring 35, and possibly further sealing rings, seals or seal the valve body from the outside.

For detecting the rotational position of the valve body 28, a position sensor 37 is provided (see Fig. 5 ). In the illustrated embodiment, this is designed as a light barrier 38, with which marking openings 39 on the valve body 28 can be detected. In the present embodiment, four such marking openings 39 are provided, two each for the two closed and two each of the two open positions of the valve body. The marking openings can be coded to distinguish the positions.

Instead of an optical position sensor, e.g. Also, a mechanical position sensor may be provided which detects the rotational position of the valve body, for example by means of microswitch.

As mentioned above, thanks to the position sensor, the valve drive can use a cost-effective motor, which has no defined approach direction, in particular a synchronous motor. Preferably, the motor is followed by a reduction gear.

The tumble dryer can be operated by the unit's controller in two operating modes:
  • In normal operation laundry can be dried in the drum 2. Here are the fan 3 and the process air treatment 6 in operation and dry the laundry in a conventional manner. All closing valves 20, 21 are closed so that the process air can not get into the lint separator 15.
  • In the cleaning operation, the blower 3 and the process air treatment 6 are usually switched off, but the cleaning device 10 is for cleaning the lint filter 5 of lint in operation. In this mode of operation, the fan 16 delivers air from the suction nozzle 12 to the air return 13. All shut-off valves 20, 21 are open and the lint separator 15 separates the lint from the suction nozzle 12 from the air.

In the embodiment described above, two shut-off valves are provided, one in the first section 14 from the suction nozzle to the lint separator 15, the other in the second section 17 from the lint separator 15 to the air return line 13. However, only one closing valve may be provided in the region of the connecting channel. as well as the air flow between the suction nozzle 12 and the air return 13 can be prevented. For the reasons mentioned above, however, two shut-off valves are advantageous.

Instead of a cylindrical valve body 28 of the type described above, for example, a valve body may be provided which has two shutters connected via a drive axle. It can also be provided separate valve body, each with its own valve drive for the two closing valves.

While preferred embodiments of the invention are described in the present application, it should be clearly understood that the invention is not limited to these and may be practiced otherwise within the scope of the following claims.
