Definitions
- the invention relates to a pump, in particular centrifugal pump according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Such a pump includes a pump housing having an inlet and an outlet, wherein a motor shaft rotatably connected to an impeller disposed in the pump housing is rotatably mounted in a rear wall of the pump housing with a primary mechanical seal assembly, wherein the primary mechanical seal assembly is associated with a dry run protection system.
- Centrifugal pumps are used in particular for the promotion of liquid pump media, such as swimming pool water.
- the pump medium is sucked in at the inlet and discharged at the outlet under pressure.
- centrifugal pumps for an impeller is rotatably arranged in the pump housing that is connected via a motor shaft with a motor and is offset by this in rotary motion. In this case, a substantially radial flow is generated in the pump medium, whereby a pressure within the pump is increased and the pump medium is forced out of the outlet.
- the bearing of the motor shaft in the pump housing or in the rear wall of the pump housing is usually via a mechanical seal assembly comprising a seal ring and a mating ring, wherein the seal ring is stationary in the pump housing and the mating ring is stationary connected to the motor shaft.
- a mechanical seal assembly comprising a seal ring and a mating ring, wherein the seal ring is stationary in the pump housing and the mating ring is stationary connected to the motor shaft.
- the mechanical seal assembly In order to minimize friction losses and to prevent exceeding an additional temperature, the mechanical seal assembly must be cooled or lubricated. This lubrication is usually done by the pump medium, which wets the mechanical seal assembly. Since an inner surface of the mechanical seal assembly is usually in communication with a pressure space of the pump, the pumping medium may come into contact with the mechanical seal assembly. It is also known that pressurized pumping medium can be selectively directed to the mechanical seal assembly by means of special channels.
- the invention is based on the object to remedy the disadvantages of the prior art and in particular to provide a pump which has a high reliability and requires low maintenance.
- the dry run protection system has a fluid volume which communicates with a side facing away from the impeller side of the primary mechanical seal assembly. This can be accomplished by having the volume of liquid adjacent directly to an outside of the primary mechanical seal assembly.
- the liquid volume may be filled, for example, with white oil or another liquid.
- This fluid lubricates and cools the primary mechanical seal assembly when lubrication is interrupted by the pumping medium. This reliably prevents inadmissible heating of the mechanical seal assembly. This ensures that the slip ring and the counter ring always slide on a thin film.
- an active protection of the mechanical seal assembly by the dry run protection system wherein a Notlaufschmtechnik is obtained, so that switching off the pump in the absence of lubrication of the primary seal assembly by the pump medium does not have to lead to a shutdown of the pump. Rather, the primary mechanical seal assembly is protected by the liquid contained in the liquid volume from temperature-related failures. In addition, prevents the volume of liquid that can penetrate the pump medium in the drive of the pump in case of leakage of the mechanical seal assembly. Rather, the pump medium is then stopped in the liquid volume.
- the dry-running protection system thus reduces standstill times of the pump and increases operational reliability. In this case, an active protection is provided, which allows further operation of the pump, even if the lubrication is not sufficient by the pump medium. Overall, this results in a very low maintenance, safe operation of the pump with a low probability of failure.
- the liquid volume is formed between the pump rear wall and a lid of the pump housing.
- the liquid volume is thus formed by a chamber which is formed between the rear wall and the lid.
- a modified standard backplane can be used to provide sufficient volume to deliver. The dry run protection system can then be realized with relatively little effort.
- the motor shaft is rotatably mounted in the cover with a secondary mechanical seal assembly. This mechanical seal assembly is then also cooled by the liquid in the volume of liquid.
- a particularly simple embodiment is achieved in that the cover is fluid-tightly connected to the rear wall, in particular screwed or clamped or pressed.
- an additional sealing means may be provided between the lid and the rear wall to securely seal the volume of liquid to the outside.
- a screw between the lid and the rear wall has the advantage that the lid can be removed with relatively little effort to perform, for example, maintenance.
- the dry run protection system has a reservoir, which is connected by a formed in the pump housing, in particular in the rear wall, access to the liquid volume.
- the reservoir is thus arranged outside of the pump housing and connected for example via lines to the access.
- the storage container is used on the one hand for storing a sufficient amount of liquid, so that a complete filling of the liquid volume is always guaranteed and used as a pressure equalization vessel, so that, for example, a heating of the liquid in the liquid volume with resulting volume increase is easy.
- the reservoir is arranged geodetically higher than the primary mechanical seal assembly. This results in an automatic replenishment of the liquid volume and on the other hand it is ensured that the mechanical seal is always covered by the liquid in the liquid volume.
- An outlet of the reservoir should be formed at a geodetically lowest possible position of the reservoir, so that all liquid present in the reservoir can optionally be transferred into the liquid volume.
- the reservoir can be connected, for example via 90 ° angled lines with the access, which have sufficient mechanical stability to carry the reservoir. The overall structure is kept simple.
- a level of the reservoir is monitored.
- a signal can then be output. This leakage is relatively quickly recognizable.
- the reservoir is at least partially transparent. A level of liquid in the reservoir is then relatively easy to see with the naked eye. A review of the dry run protection system is thus possible with little effort.
- a transparent embodiment of the reservoir is easily possible for example by an appropriate choice of material such as glass or plastic.
- the pump housing has a venting device for venting a pressure chamber.
- the pressure chamber is usually located between the rear wall and the impeller. Air in the pressure space may interfere with lubrication of the mechanical seal assembly by the pump medium. Accordingly, it is favorable if the air can escape from the pump.
- the venting device may for example have a bleed screw or a vent valve, which is operated manually or automatically.
- the pump housing is made of gray cast iron.
- the pump is thus very inexpensive to produce.
- the pump housing may have a corrosion-resistant coating to prevent corrosion of the pump housing.
- FIG. 1 is a centrifugal pump 1 with a pump housing 2 shown in a three-dimensional view.
- the pump housing 2 has an inlet 3 and an outlet 4 for a pump medium, especially for liquids.
- the pump housing 2 is designed in several parts and has, inter alia, a rear wall 5, which seals a pressure chamber, and a lid 6 which is fixed to the rear wall 5.
- a motor 7 is fixed, which serves to drive an impeller of the pump.
- a reservoir 10 is connected to the pressure chamber of the pump 1, wherein the access is formed integrally with the rear wall 5.
- the reservoir 10 is formed of a transparent material such as glass, so that the state of a liquid in the reservoir 10 can be seen from the outside.
- the reservoir 10 is part of a dry run system that associated with FIG. 2 will be explained in more detail, which shows a detail of the pump 1.
- the motor 7 is rotatably connected via a motor shaft 11 with an impeller 12 and can set the impeller 12 in rotation.
- a pump medium is acted upon essentially in the radial direction, so that a radial flow is formed and the pump medium is sucked in at the inlet 3 and is released at the outlet 4 under pressure. Accordingly, there is a pressure space 13 between the impeller 12 and the rear wall 5.
- the motor shaft 11 is mounted in the rear wall 5 with a primary mechanical seal assembly 14 which includes at least one slide ring 15, 23 and a mating ring 16.
- the mechanical seal assembly 14 serves on the one hand the bearing of the motor shaft 11 in the rear wall 5 and on the other to seal the pressure chamber 13.
- the pump medium located in the pressure chamber 13 serves to lubricate the mechanical seal assembly 14, so that normally a thin film of pump medium between the slide ring 15, 23 and the counter ring 16 is formed.
- a liquid volume 17 is formed, in which a lubricating fluid such as white oil is added.
- the liquid volume 17 occupies a space between the rear wall 5 and the lid 6, which are fluid-tightly connected to each other.
- a seal 18 is arranged between the cover 6 and the rear wall 5 and the cover 6 is fastened by means of screws 19.
- the motor shaft 11 is mounted in the cover 6 via a secondary mechanical seal assembly 20.
- the secondary mechanical seal assembly 20 seals the passage of the motor shaft 6 relative to the liquid volume 17.
- the liquid volume 17 should always be filled with liquid as completely as possible so as to not only be in contact with the primary mechanical seal assembly 14 but also with the secondary mechanical seal assembly 20.
- the liquid volume 17 communicates with the reservoir 10 which is geodesic is higher than the primary seal assembly 14 and the secondary seal assembly 20, so that in particular as long as liquid is in the reservoir 10, it is always ensured that the primary seal assembly 14 and the secondary seal assembly 20 are covered by the liquid in the liquid volume 17 , This results in an automatic refilling of the liquid volume 17 from the reservoir 10.
- the reservoir 10 also serves as a surge tank, which can compensate for example, temperature-related fluctuations of the liquid.
- the liquid in the liquid volume 17 performs several tasks. On the one hand, it ensures sufficient cooling and lubrication of the primary mechanical seal assembly 14 in case of interruption of the lubrication by the pump medium. On the other hand, leakage of the pump medium in the region of the mechanical seal assembly 14 is prevented. This increases the operational safety of the pump. In particular, dry running of the primary mechanical seal assembly 14 is reliably avoided and further operation of the pump is made possible even if adequate lubrication is not guaranteed by the pump medium.
- the liquid in the liquid volume can also be used to lubricate and cool the secondary mechanical seal 20.
- a ventilation device 21 is provided in the pump housing 2, which is arranged at the geodetically highest point of the pressure chamber 13 and a manual venting of the pressure chamber 13 allows.
- FIG. 3 shows in exploded view the essential elements of the dry run protection system.
- the lid 6 is provided in order to form the liquid volume 17 between the rear wall 5 and the lid 6 can.
- the rear wall 5 is additionally formed so that a chamber of sufficient size for receiving the liquid is formed.
- the cover 6 is fluid-tight screwed to the rear wall 5 via the screws 19.
- the motor shaft 11 is mounted in the cover 6 with a secondary mechanical seal assembly 20.
- the liquid volume 17 is connected via the access 8 and the line 9 to the reservoir 10, from which liquid is automatically refilled.

Abstract
Description
- In
