Definitions
- the invention relates to a closure device for a container provided with a neck, and to a container provided with such a device.
- the invention also relates to a method for closing a batch of containers equipped with a closure device.
- a glass vial to store an active ingredient in the form of lyophilisate, powder or liquid solution.
- Such a bottle must be sealed in order to maintain its contents in a satisfactory state of preservation, until its date of use.
- a closure device which comprises an elastomeric stopper and a plastic cap intended to be immobilized around the stopper to isolate it from the outside.
- WO-2007/063218 proposes a closure device whose cap comprises a ring and a member for manipulating locking means of the ring on the neck of a container. It is also known from WO-2008/129144 to integrate in a closure device a deformable transmission element of a thrust force which is intended to fade when a thrust force has been effectively transmitted to bring a member into a position where it actuates locking means a cap on the neck of a container.
- FR-A-2 927 316 discloses all the features of the preamble of claim 1 and the use of a connecting web connecting a central pad to a peripheral edge and having different stiffnesses on different ranges of deformation.
- FR-A-2 908 396 proposes a closure device in which a ring has an outwardly curved end and cooperates with an internal peripheral groove of a hoop, to maintain locking means in the immobilization position of the closure device.
- the present invention aims to treat by proposing a closure device in which the energy necessary to bring the device into a configuration of use is minimized.
- the invention relates to a container closure device provided with a neck, this device comprising a cap and a plastic cap, able to cover both the neck and the plug in place on the neck, this cap comprising a ring, adapted to surround the cap and collar in mounted configuration and provided with locking means on the neck, and an actuating member of the ring, adapted to be mounted on the ring and provided with first means of transmission to the ring a thrust force and second means for activating the locking means of the ring, while the ring and the actuating member are respectively provided with first retaining means and second retaining means which cooperate together to maintain the operating member relative to the ring in a waiting position, where it does not activate the locking means of the ring.
- the operating member is movable, parallel to the thrust direction and relative to the ring, between a first position where it activates the locking means of the ring and where it is movable in translation only in the direction of the thrust force, and a second position, where it also activates the locking means of the ring and where it is immobilized relative to the ring in translation in both directions, in a direction parallel to the force thrust, while the operating member comprises a first cylindrical surface with straight or frustoconical generatrix disposed opposite the first retaining means of the ring, on the displacement stroke of the actuating member between its first and second positions, and a second cylindrical surface with a straight or frustoconical generatrix disposed facing the locking means of the ring, on the displacement stroke of the actuating member.
- the locking means of the ring comprise tabs which extend, from a first continuous edge of this ring, towards the second edge of the ring opposite its first edge, while the diameter of a circle passing through external radial portions of the tongues of locking has a value greater than the outer diameter of the first edge and that each tab is disposed in a closed contour opening, which passes through the ring in a radial direction relative to a longitudinal and central axis of this ring.
- the operating member can be brought, from its waiting position, to its first position where it ensures, by its action on the locking means, effective attachment of the device on the container.
- the two cylindrical surfaces with straight generator or frustoconical allow to limit the friction between the actuator and the ring during the movement of the actuating member between its first and second position.
- the effort required to bring the operating member from its first to its second position is of limited intensity, which makes it possible to envisage acting simultaneously on a large number of closure devices or to operate a control operation based on a calibrated force to move from the first to the second position of the actuator.
- the positioning of the locking tabs in contoured shaped openings and the fact that the edge of the ring is continuous give the tabs sufficient flexibility to perform their function, while the ring is mechanically resistant.
- the invention also relates to a container equipped with a closure device as mentioned above.
- the Figures 1 to 5 represent different steps of packaging a product P in glass vials 1 constituting containers.
- a vial 1 is being filled with the product P, for example a drug.
- a pipette 2 is introduced into the bottle 1 through its neck 11 which is defined by a neck 12 having an outer flange 13.
- X1 is the axis of symmetry of the flask 1.
- the device 50 comprises an elastomer plug 51 of shape adapted to be partially introduced into the neck 11, while resting on the face 131 of the flange 13 opposite the bottom 14 of the bottle 1. Once in place in the neck 12, the cap 51 isolates the contents of the vial 1 from the outside.
- the device 50 also comprises a cap 52 intended to cover and isolate the cap 51 and the neck 12 in the closed configuration of the closure device 50.
- the cap 52 comprises a plastic ring 53, which has a circular inner section and whose inside diameter is sufficient to allow it to surround the collar 13.
- the cap 52 also comprises an actuating member of the ring 53, constituted by a ring 54 of plastic material and which is intended to form the outer peripheral envelope of the cap 52.
- the cap 52 further comprises a cover 56 also made of plastic. This cover 56 is generally symmetrical of revolution about a central axis X56.
- 541 is the edge of the ring 54 which is oriented towards the bottle 1 in installed configuration of the cap 52 on this bottle.
- This edge 541 can be described as “lower” in that it is oriented downwards in the configuration of the Figures 2 to 5 .
- the spatial orientation of the various elements mentioned is considered in the case where a device 50 is mounted on a bottle 1 which rests on a flat surface by its bottom 14. A part is called “lower” when it is oriented down in this configuration and “upper” when facing up.
- the upper edge 542 of the ring 54 which is opposite the edge 541, is provided with a notch 543. Apart from this notch, the ring 54 is symmetrical of revolution about an axis X54.
- the ring 53 is centered on an axis X53 which is aligned with the axes X54 and X56 in the assembled configuration of the cap 52, this axis then being merged with a central axis X52 of the cap 52.
- the ring 53 comprises an annular portion 531 which defines a central opening 532 through which the top surface 511 of the cap 51 can be accessed if necessary.
- the inner surface of the cover 56 is noted 561, that is to say its surface facing the plug 51 in the mounted configuration of the device 50 on the bottle 1.
- the lid 56 is provided with a skirt 562 centered on the axis X56 and which extends parallel to this axis from the surface 561.
- the cover 56 is attached to the ring 53 by bringing the surface 561 closer to the portion 531, by introducing the skirt 562 into the opening 532 and by welding the cover 56 to the portion 531 by fusion four pads 563 formed for this purpose on the surface 561 and equi-distributed around the skirt 562.
- the geometry of the parts 53, 54 and 56 is chosen such that the maximum outside diameter D54 of the ring 54 has a value of less than 16.5 mm, preferably between 15.8 and 16.2 mm, more preferably equal to 16 mm.
- the cap 52 mounted on the bottle 1 does not exceed or slightly exceeds the body of the bottle 1, in a radial direction relative to the axis X1.
- the ring 53 comprises five strips 533 extending from the portion 531 to the lower edge of the ring 53 which is formed by a continuous ring 534 about the axis X53.
- the outer radial edge 5311 of the portion 531 defines a second or upper edge of the ring 53 and the strips 533 extend between the edges 534 and 5311.
- Each band 533 is provided with an external rib 535 projecting radially outwardly relative to the axis X53 with respect to this tongue. Between each pair of two adjacent strips 533 is defined a window 536, that is to say an open area with a closed contour putting in communication the internal volume of the ring 53 and the outside.
- a locking tab 537 extends from the ring 534 in each window 536. Given the intrinsic flexibility of the material constituting the ring 53, each tongue 537 can pivot about its base relative to the edge 534. In other words, each tongue 537 may be more or less folded towards the inside of the ring 53, depending on the forces it undergoes.
- each tongue 537 has an outer surface adjacent this free edge.
- the outer surface 5372 of each tongue 537 is in the shape of a frustoconical surface section, centered on the axis X53 and converging towards the portion 531.
- each tongue 537 comprises a frustoconical surface 5373, centered on the axis X53 and converging towards the edge 534.
- the surface 5372 constitutes the upper outer peripheral surface of a tongue 537, while its surface 5373 constitutes a lower outer peripheral surface.
- the respective diameters of the surfaces 5372 and 5373 of a tongue are selected such that an arcuate beak 5374 is formed at the junction between these surfaces and defines a shoulder 5375 on the surface side 5373.
- the beaks 5374 constitute the outer radial portions of the tabs 537.
- D534 denotes the outer diameter of the edge 534.
- D537 denotes the diameter of an imaginary circle C537 centered on the axis X53 and passing through the nozzles 5374. In the unstressed position of the locking tabs 537, the value of the diameter D537 is higher to that of the diameter D534, of at least 1.5 mm. Even when the ring 54 surrounds the locking tabs 537, as envisaged above, the diameter D537 has a value greater than the diameter D534, the difference between these values being then reduced.
- the ring 53 On the inside of the junction zone between a band 533 and the part 531, the ring 53 is provided with ribs 538 intended to penetrate superficially into the cap 51 in order to immobilize this plug in the ring 53 and in the cap 52.
- the ring 54 essentially comprises a skirt 544 which extends between the edges 541 and 542, which is cylindrical with a circular cross-section and whose outer radial surface is 545 and the inner radial surface 546.
- the surface 546 is provided with a rib 5461 extending in the direction of the X54 axis and which is delimited by an upper surface 5462 perpendicular to the axis X54 and a bottom surface 5463 converging towards the edge 541.
- the surface 546 is also provided with a peripheral groove 5464 whose height H1, measured parallel to the axis X54, is sufficient to receive the ribs 535 of the strips 533 in a configuration where the ring 54 is in the waiting position with respect to the ring 53.
- This configuration is represented in figures 3 , 6 and 7 .
- the surface 546 also includes a first right-gener- ated cylindrical surface 5465 which extends between the rib 5461 and the edge 542 and a second frustoconical surface 5466 diverging towards the edge 541 and which extends between the groove 5464 and the edge 541.
- the surfaces 5465 and 5466 are centered on the axis X53.
- the apex angle of the surface 5466 is less than 10 °, preferably of the order of 7 °.
- the sliding of the ring 54 relative to the ring 53 takes place thanks to the elasticity of the strips 533 which can deform elastically when their respective ribs 535 slide along the surface 5466 of the ring 54, before engaging in
- the geometry of the ring 53 gives the strips 533 sufficient flexibility so that the setting up of the ring 54 around the elements 53 and 56 is easy.
- the strips 53 each extend, with respect to the axis X53, on an angular sector with an apex angle ⁇ of less than 30 °, preferably of the order of 25 °, which gives them good elasticity. .
- the plug 51 When the cap 52 has been thus pre-assembled, it is possible to accommodate the plug 51 by inserting it inside the ring 53, until the ribs 538 penetrate superficially into the plug 51, which which ensures a maintenance position of the plug in the ring.
- the plug 51 can be placed on the neck 12 of the bottle 1, as shown in FIG. figure 2 before the cap 52 is put in place on the cap.
- the bottle 1 equipped with the device 50 can then be introduced into a freeze-dryer 300, within a batch of bottles 1.
- Figures 3 to 5 three vials represent a batch that may comprise several hundred or even thousands of vials arranged in the lyophilizer 300.
- the vials may be arranged in this lyophilizer on several superposed shelves.
- the water molecules present in each bottle 1 are discharged to the outside, as represented by the arrow F1 to figures 3 and 6 , through the interstices that then remain between the cap 52 and the flange 13.
- This axial force E2 is exerted by a plate 301 movable inside the lyophilizer and controlled by a cylinder 302.
- the plate 301 at the same time exerts substantially the same unit force E'2 on the cap 52 of each bottle 1 of a row of bottles disposed at the same level, on the same shelf 303 in the freeze-dryer.
- the sum of the forces E'2 is equal to the effort E2.
- the application of the force E2 has the effect of advancing the crown 54 of each cap 52 towards the bottom 14 of each of the bottles 1, as represented by the passage of the configuration of the figures 3 and 6 to that of figures 4 and 11 .
- the force E'2 is transmitted from the ring 54 to the ring 53 via the groove 5464 and the ribs 535 which cooperate.
- the force E'2 exerted on each device 50 has the effect of bringing the tabs 537 of its ring 53 between the collar 13 and the body 16 of the bottle, around the neck portion 12 not provided with the collar 13 .
- the character frustoconical surface 5466 gives a progressive character to the tilting of the locking tabs 537 of the position of the figure 13 to that of the figure 15 .
- the annular portion 531 then comes into contact with the upper surface 511 of the cap 51 which stops the progression of the ring 53 towards the bottom 14.
- the continuation of the application of the force E'2 on the ring 54 of each device 50 has the effect of driving the rib 535 of each band 533 outside the groove 5464 by elastic deformation of the strips 533, which allows the ring 54 to successively reach the positions of the Figures 12 to 14 .
- This allows, in a first step, the edge 541 of the ring 54 to come into contact with the surfaces 5372 of the different tabs 537, as shown in FIG. figure 12 .
- the surfaces 5352 and 5462 are in surface abutment and are perpendicular to the axis X1, so that they effectively oppose any displacement of the ring 54 opposite the bottom 14, that is to say in a direction opposite to that of the unit force E'2 applied to the ring 54.
- the ring 54 is effectively retained in position relative to a tearing movement that would tend to move away from the bottom 14, this through the cooperation of the ribs 535 and 5461.
- the ring 54 is immobilized axially, along the axes X52, X53, X54 and X56 which are merged with respect to the ring 53 due to the cooperation of the nozzles 5374 and the throat 5464.
- the necessary stroke to bring the ring 54 into the position of the figure 15 may vary from one vial 1 to another.
- the two left vials in this figure can have their device 50 in the configuration of the figure 14
- the right vial has its device 50 in the configuration of the figure 15 .
- the travel of the plate 301 is adjusted so that all the devices 50 equipping the different bottles 1 mounted on a shelf 303 reach at least the configuration of the figure 14 , from the configuration of the figure 11 However, some of them may reach the position of the figure 15 or in an intermediate position between those Figures 14 and 15 .
- the beaks 5374 of the tongues 537 slide on the surface 5466, while the ribs 535 move parallel to the surface 5465, without contact therewith, the resistance force to the ring 54 is low when the ring 54 passes from its first position at its second position relative to the ring 53.
- the ring 54 In the configuration of the figure 14 , the ring 54 is in its first position in which the skirt 544 ensures, by the hooping it exerts on the tongues 537, the maintenance of these tongues in an engagement configuration with the surface 132 of the flange 13.
- the ring 54 constitutes an actuator of the ring 53, which actuates the locking means constituted by the tongues 537.
- the ring 534 In this position, the ring 534 can still move towards the bottom 14 but can not move away from this bottom because it is blocked by the cooperation of the ribs 535 and 5461.
- the force E3 which is relatively low intensity, is sufficient to normally bring the ring 54 of each device 50 in the configuration of the figure 14 or in an intermediate configuration between those Figures 14 and 15 in its second position in which the nozzles 5374 are engaged in the groove 5464, so that the ring 54 is immobilized in translation parallel to the axis X1 in both directions, that is to say in the same direction as the effort E3 and in the opposite direction.
- the ring 54 immobilizes the tongues 537 in engagement configuration with the surface 132 of the collar 13.
- the effort E3 needed to move the ring 54 from its position of the figure 13 to his position of the figure 15 is of low intensity, it can be used to verify the correct mounting of the device 50 on the neck 12 of a vial 1. Indeed, at the outlet of the lyophilizer 300, it is possible to subject each vial 1 to the effort E3 which is calibrated, that is to say whose value is predetermined, then check what is the position of the ring 54 along the axis X1, after application of this effort. To do this, a device 400 with an optical sight points to the upper edge 542 of the ring 54 in the direction of the arrow F2 to the figure 15 , which makes it possible to determine the position of this ring along the axis X1. This position must be within a predetermined range, corresponding to the reception of the nozzles 5374 in the groove 5464. The aiming in the direction of the arrow F2 thus makes it possible to determine whether the ring 54 has actually reached its second position.
- the effort E3 has a dual function: it makes it possible to bring all the devices 50 equipping the bottles 1 at the outlet of the lyophilizer 300 in the configuration of the figure 15 where the ring 54 is immobilized axially with respect to the bottle 1 and maintains the tongues 537 in locking configuration; this effort also makes it possible to check the good assembly and the good mounting of the device 50. Indeed, in case of bad assembly, this effort is not sufficient to bring the cap 54 in the configuration of the figure 15 , which is detected by the device 400.
- the outer edge 563 of the cover 56 is accessible laterally, in the direction of the arrow F3, through the notch 543 of the ring 54.
- a radial clearance J is defined between the edge 564 of the cover 56 and the portion of the surface 5465 of the skirt 544 which is near this edge in this configuration.
- This game J allows the effort E4 to effectively separate the plug 56 of the ring 53, by breaking the weld points resulting from the melting of the pads 563 and extracting the skirt 562 from the opening 532.

Description
The invention relates to a closure device for a container provided with a neck, and to a container provided with such a device. The invention also relates to a method for closing a batch of containers equipped with a closure device.
In the field of medication containers, it is known to use a glass vial to store an active ingredient in the form of lyophilisate, powder or liquid solution. Such a bottle must be sealed in order to maintain its contents in a satisfactory state of preservation, until its date of use. To seal a bottle, it is known to use a closure device which comprises an elastomeric stopper and a plastic cap intended to be immobilized around the stopper to isolate it from the outside.
When these closure devices are used to close bottles belonging to a batch of bottles installed in a lyophilizer, by exerting a thrust force spread over the various closure devices to bring them in a closed configuration, the effort of thrust exerted by means of a common member called "pressure plate" is distributed over the various closure devices. When relatively small diameter containers are used, in particular containers whose neck has a diameter of the order of 13 mm, it is economically advantageous to install in a freeze-dryer a batch of containers pre-equipped with cooling devices. capping with as many containers as possible. In this case, the unit force exerted by the pressure plate on each closure device has a relatively low intensity, of the order of 25 Newtons for a conventional lyophilizer. Under these conditions, it is important to minimize the intensity of the effort required to bring each closure device into its use configuration where it effectively closes the neck of a container.
It is this problem that the present invention aims to treat by proposing a closure device in which the energy necessary to bring the device into a configuration of use is minimized.
To this end, the invention relates to a container closure device provided with a neck, this device comprising a cap and a plastic cap, able to cover both the neck and the plug in place on the neck, this cap comprising a ring, adapted to surround the cap and collar in mounted configuration and provided with locking means on the neck, and an actuating member of the ring, adapted to be mounted on the ring and provided with first means of transmission to the ring a thrust force and second means for activating the locking means of the ring, while the ring and the actuating member are respectively provided with first retaining means and second retaining means which cooperate together to maintain the operating member relative to the ring in a waiting position, where it does not activate the locking means of the ring. According to the invention, the operating member is movable, parallel to the thrust direction and relative to the ring, between a first position where it activates the locking means of the ring and where it is movable in translation only in the direction of the thrust force, and a second position, where it also activates the locking means of the ring and where it is immobilized relative to the ring in translation in both directions, in a direction parallel to the force thrust, while the operating member comprises a first cylindrical surface with straight or frustoconical generatrix disposed opposite the first retaining means of the ring, on the displacement stroke of the actuating member between its first and second positions, and a second cylindrical surface with a straight or frustoconical generatrix disposed facing the locking means of the ring, on the displacement stroke of the actuating member. e between his first and second positions. In addition, the locking means of the ring comprise tabs which extend, from a first continuous edge of this ring, towards the second edge of the ring opposite its first edge, while the diameter of a circle passing through external radial portions of the tongues of locking has a value greater than the outer diameter of the first edge and that each tab is disposed in a closed contour opening, which passes through the ring in a radial direction relative to a longitudinal and central axis of this ring.
Thanks to the invention, the operating member can be brought, from its waiting position, to its first position where it ensures, by its action on the locking means, effective attachment of the device on the container. Then, the two cylindrical surfaces with straight generator or frustoconical allow to limit the friction between the actuator and the ring during the movement of the actuating member between its first and second position. As a result, the effort required to bring the operating member from its first to its second position is of limited intensity, which makes it possible to envisage acting simultaneously on a large number of closure devices or to operate a control operation based on a calibrated force to move from the first to the second position of the actuator. In addition, the positioning of the locking tabs in contoured shaped openings and the fact that the edge of the ring is continuous give the tabs sufficient flexibility to perform their function, while the ring is mechanically resistant.
- The operating member comprises an abutment which blocks a displacement of the operating member relative to the ring, from the first position and away from the second position, cooperating with the first retaining means provided on the ring.
- The operating member comprises an annular skirt and the first and second surfaces, as well as possibly the abutment mentioned above, are formed on an inner surface of this skirt.
- The locking means, on the one hand, and the operating member, on the other hand, are respectively provided with first and second immobilizing means which cooperate together to immobilize in translation the operating member relative to the ring. in the second position. In this case, the first immobilizing means advantageously comprise at least one projecting element disposed on an outer radial side of a tongue, while the second immobilizing means comprise at least one recessed housing for receiving the element. protruding when the actuator is in its second position.
- The first retaining means are formed on deformable strips which extend, in a direction parallel to the thrust force, between an annular portion of the ring intended to bear on an exposed face of the plug and an annular edge of the ring from which extend the locking means.
- A cover is integral with the ring and isolates from the outside a central opening of the ring giving access to an exposed surface of the cap, while the actuating member comprises an annular skirt which surrounds the cap, except at the level of a notch formed in an upper edge of the skirt opposite the container in the mounted configuration of the device and while a radial clearance is provided between the cover and the upper edge of the skirt, at least in the vicinity of an area of the skirt diametrically opposite the notch.
- The actuating member comprises an annular skirt with circular section which radially surrounds the ring when the operating member is in the standby position and in the first and second positions, while the outer diameter of the skirt is less than 16. , 5 mm, preferably between 15.8 mm and 16.2 mm.
The invention also relates to a container equipped with a closure device as mentioned above.

During the manufacture of the
In practice, the geometry of the
Each
Les becs 5374 constituent les parties radiales externes des languettes 537.We note 5371 the free edge of a

When the

At the end of the lowering movement of the

This makes it possible to exert a force E4 for tearing off the

The invention has been described in the case where the
