Claims (14)
- An apparatus (10) for separating cards (16) from a card stack (14) supplied in a card magazine (12), comprisinga. a preliminary separator (18) for conveying one or more cards out of the card magazine, with the preliminary separator being provided with a drive for conveying one or more cards out of the card magazine (12) and at least two rotatably or pivotably drivable engaging devices (18a, 18b) having convex engaging device surfaces (18a', 18b'), andb. a holder (20) for accommodating the one or more cards conveyed out of the card magazine, wherein the holder delivers one single card to the downstream processing station (VS) at a time, with the at least two engaging devices being spaced-apart from one another in dependence on the dimension of the card placed between them and portions of the convex engaging device surfaces are formed of such an elastically flexible material that the card placed between them bows convexly from the card stack along to the central longitudinal axis of the card magazine while being fed into the holdercharacterized in that

- The apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims comprising a control (30)- for evaluating the sensor signals and/or the status information of upstream and/or downstream processing stations and/or- for providing control signals for the drive of the preliminary separator (18) for controllably feeding one or more cards (16) out of the card magazine (12) in dependence upon the evaluation, and/or for providing control signals for the drive (20b) of the holder for controllably delivering the single card from the holder to a downstream processing station in dependence upon the evaluation.
- The apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, with the holder (20) being adapted and to be operated so as to move away from the card stack (14) at an angle to the central longitudinal axis of the card stack at least one card (16) separated from the card stack (14) and accommodated by the holder at a time.
- The apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims,- with the two engaging devices (18a, 18b) being arranged such that at least one portion of the convex engaging device surface (18a') of the first engaging device is directed towards at least one portion of the convex engaging device surface (18b') of the second engaging device, and- that these two portions of the convex engaging device surfaces of the first and the second engaging devices are adapted to take up at least one card (16) placed at the end of the card stack (14) in order to feed said card in the direction of the holder (20) upon a rotating or pivoting motion of the two engaging devices, said motions being oriented in opposing directions, and- for separating the to be separated card from the card stack.
- The apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the at least two rotatably or pivotably drivable engaging devices (18a, 18b) have the shapes of wheels, rollers or rolls, which are connected to a drive by a gearing mechanism in order to at least nearly simultaneously make an opposing rotational or pivotal motion in the area of not more than a quarter turn, preferably at an angular range of about plus 60° to minus 30°.
- The apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the at least two rotatably or pivotably drivable engaging devices (18a, 18b) are made of elastically flexible material at least in the area of the portions of the convex engaging device surfaces.
- The apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the holder (20) is adapted to accommodate one or more cards (16) from the card stack (14) and move them away from the area of the card stack at an angle to the central longitudinal axis of the card stack, and a holdback device (20d) is provided which is stationary relative to the movable holder, in order to hold back the cards accommodated by the holder except one, when the holder moves away from the area of the card stack in a separating direction, causing the said single card to be separated from all other cards.
- The apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the holder (20) has a stop portion (20c) against which rests, in the direction of the separation, the rear edge of the first (or last) card of the stack to be separated, and a holdback device (20d) mounted in a region of a, in the direction of the separation, front edge of the first (or last) card of the stack to be separated, with the holdback device comprising a sliding edge having a distance from the holder which corresponds approximately to the thickness of a card.
- The apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the at least two rotatably or pivotably drivable engaging devices (18a, 18b) are to be actuated either by synchronously operated single drives or by a drive acting via a gearing mechanism on the two catches together.
- The apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the holder (20) is connected by a gearing mechanism to the drive to feed away from the region of the card stack (14) cards accommodated by the holder in a reciprocating longitudinally oriented or pivoting motion.
- The apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the stack (14) of cards in the magazine shaft is shifted after one separation step by a spring assembly or a linear actuator to the preliminary separation stage between the engaging devices.
- The apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the magazine shaft is arranged in an orientation out of vertical alignment, wherein the holder (20) is also oriented horizontally so that the card (16) separated at the time falls or swings down into the holder out frm between the two engaging devices (18a, 18b).
