Definitions
- the present invention claims the priority of the application French 1058501 filed October 19, 2010 .
- the invention is in the field of methods and devices for starting an engine fitted to a motor vehicle as well as means or accessories for starting such an engine. It relates to a method for implementing a starting device fitted to said engine. It also relates to a supervision computer for the implementation of this method. It also relates to a centralized tension holding device for the implementation of this method. Finally, it relates to a starting device comprising such a supervision computer and such a centralized voltage maintaining device.
- a motor vehicle equipped with a heat engine is provided with a starting device for starting the heat engine.
- the starting device comprises an electrical power supply network interposed between the heat engine and an electrical power source, such as a battery.
- the electrical power supply network comprises in particular an electric starter which supplies a force torque to the heat engine for its start-up.
- the starting device comprises an element known by the English name “Stop & Start”.
- Such an element makes it possible to cut off, at the request of the driver, the combustion engine when the speed of movement of the motor vehicle is zero or almost zero, for example when stopped at a red light, when approaching a yield -le-passage or any other comparable situation, the combustion engine subsequently being automatically restarted when a user of the motor vehicle requests the combustion engine again.
- This has the advantage of reducing the consumption of the motor vehicle as well as the pollution that the latter generates.
- the starting device comprises a centralized voltage maintaining device, commonly referred to as “DMTC”, which is intended to maintain the electrical power supply network at a sufficiently high voltage level.
- DMTC centralized voltage maintaining device
- These provisions allow satisfactory powering of accessories of the motor vehicle, such as an air conditioning installation, a car radio, a satellite tracking device for example.
- the centralized tensioning device is also intended to provide a "boost" effect to the heat engine from an increase in the force torque delivered to the heat engine.
- FR 2,935,156 , FR2924536A1 , EP1848090A2 PEUGEOT CITROEN AUTOMOBILES SA
- Such a starting device deserves to be improved to avoid premature wear of the electric starter when the latter is subjected to a high intensity electric current, in particular during a “Boost” effect.
- such a starting device deserves to be improved in order to be more effective under certain particular conditions of use, in particular when the starting device is subjected to a strong undervoltage.
- such a starting device deserves to be improved in order to be more operational in other conditions of use, in particular when the thermal engine is difficult to start, for example in the event of a very low outside temperature, lower than -10°C for example, and/or in the event of high humidity, for example greater than 80%.
- such a starting device and/or a method for implementing such a starting device deserve to be improved, so that the performance of the electrical power supply network is optimized and that potential wear parts making up the power supply network is minimized.
- a general object of the present invention is to provide additional power to the heat engine during a start-up phase of the latter to achieve selected torque objectives, while taking into account the durability constraints of electrical components fitted to the vehicle. automobile, such as a starter or the like.
- Another general object of the present invention is to avoid undervoltages during the start-up phase in order to guard against any risk of the electrical components being reset.
- a first particular object of the present invention is to propose a method for implementing a starting device for a heat engine fitted to a motor vehicle, which allows maintenance of an optimized quality of the on-board network, for example by avoiding inopportune resets and/or reinitializations of components of said network, and which limits potential wear of parts constituting the power supply network, to reinforce the durability of said network.
- a second particular aim of the present invention is to propose such a method which optimizes an implementation of the device for starting the heat engine under relatively arbitrary conditions of use.
- a third particular aim of the present invention is to obtain such results from a method and a starting device that are relatively simple to implement and/or to manufacture.
- the method preferably comprises an additional step during which the theoretical support time Tt is compared with an actual support time T e which is measured by a centralized voltage maintenance device.
- a motor vehicle 1 is equipped with a heat engine 2.
- the latter is for example an internal combustion heat engine capable of driving the drive wheels 3 of the motor vehicle 1.
- the heat engine 2 is capable of being a hybrid motor without derogate from the rules of the present invention.
- Motor vehicle 1 is equipped with a starting device 4 for heat engine 2.
- the starting device 4 comprises an electric starter 5 capable of rotating a drive shaft 6 of the heat engine 2 to trigger its start-up.
- the starting device 4 also comprises an electric power supply network 7 interposed between the electric starter 5 and an electric power source 8, such as an electrochemical battery.
- the starting device 4 comprises a set of super-capacitors 9 which are connected to the power supply network 7 via a first controlled relay 10, such as one or more MOS transistors connected in parallel between them or similar.
- a first controlled relay 10 In the open position, the first controlled relay 10 isolates the set of super-capacitors 9 while in the closed position, the first controlled relay 10 connects the set of super-capacitors 9 in series to the electrical power source 8.
- the set of super-capacitors 9 forms an energy store capable of being called upon to support the electrical power source 8, during a first start-up of the heat engine 2 or during a restart of the latter.
- the set of super capacitors 9 is in particular made up of a plurality of capacitors connected in series with each other.
- the starting device 4 also comprises a control unit 100 of the first controlled relay 10.
- the control unit 100 constitutes a centralized voltage maintenance device 16, commonly called "DMTC", which is intended to maintain the network power supply 7 at a sufficiently high voltage level.
- the control unit 100 is in contact with a supervision computer 101 via a LIN bus 102, or the like.
- the supervision computer 101 is connected to a plurality of sensors 12,12′,12′′ of information 13,13′,13′′ relating to a state of respective parameters of the motor vehicle 1. More particularly, a first sensor 12 is intended to measure a first piece of information 13 relating to a temperature ⁇ em of a water-engine. More particularly still, a second sensor 12' is intended to measure a second piece of information 13' relating to a state of charge E of the electrical power source 8. More particularly finally, a third sensor 12" is intended to measure a third piece of information 13" relative to a temperature ⁇ s of the electrical power source 8.
- the information sensors 12,12',12"13,13',13" determine a map which reveals the state of the vehicle.
- the first piece of information 13 relating to the temperature ⁇ em of the engine water
- the second piece of information 13' relating to the state of charge E of the electrical power source 8
- the lower the state of charge E the less the electrical power source 8 is able to provide sufficient electrical energy to deliver a satisfactory couple of forces, which globally alters the performance of the electrical power supply network 7.
- the present invention advantageously proposes determining the value of a support time during which the set of super-capacitors 9 is placed in series with the electrical power source 8. More particularly, in a first mode of operation of the vehicle, said normal mode, the present invention proposes to calculate said support time according to a certain number of parameters. More particularly still, in a second operating mode of the vehicle, called degraded mode, the present invention proposes to arbitrarily determine said support time.
- a respective intermediate support time T i ,T i′ ,T i′′ is calculated via calculation means 14 constituting the supervision computer 101. More precisely, the calculation means 14 determine a first intermediate support time T i from the first information 13. Similarly, the calculation means 14 determine a second intermediate support time T i ' from the second information 13' . Finally, the calculation means 14 determine a third intermediate support time T i " from the third information 13".
- the supervision computer 101 also comprises comparison means 15 which are able to compare the intermediate support times between them T i ,T i ' ,T i" , and to identify the one which is the greatest of them which constitutes ultimately a theoretical support time Tt.
- the theoretical support time Tt is transmitted by the supervision computer 101 to the control unit 100 of the centralized voltage support device 16 via the LIN bus 102.
- the control unit 11 receives the information relating to the theoretical support time Tt as well as an implementation authorization if an undervoltage is detected. Said information and said authorization is transmitted from the supervision computer 101 to the control unit 11.
- the latter is able to put in closed position the first controlled relay 10 while is placed in the open position a second controlled relay 10 'arranged in parallel with the first controlled relay 10 and the set of super-capacitors 9.
- These provisions allow a satisfactory energization of accessories 17 of the motor vehicle 1, such as an air conditioning system, a car radio, a satellite tracking device for example.
- the centralized voltage maintaining device 16 is also able to provide a "Boost" effect to the heat engine 2 from an increase in the force torque delivered to the heat engine 2.
- the first controlled relay 10 switches if and only if an undervoltage is proven and the authorization to implement is positive.
- the present invention proposes activating the centralized voltage support device 16 for the theoretical support time Tt just necessary which has been calculated from the information 13,13',13" revealing the state of the vehicle.
- the centralized voltage maintaining device 16 is able to measure an effective support time T e and is capable of comparing the latter with the theoretical support time Tt previously received from the supervision computer 101 by means of comparison means 18 which the centralized voltage maintenance device comprises.
- the support is applied to the starting device 4 as soon as the controlled relay 10 switches.
- the control unit 100 does not authorize more implementation support.
- the effective support time T e is calculated from the moment when the controlled relay 10 is switched.
- an instruction is produced by the supervision computer 101 in order to authorize or prohibit the implementation of the centralized voltage maintaining device 16 for detect an undervoltage, which would have the effect of triggering a switching of the controlled relay 10.
- the phases of life of the heat engine 2 during which the centralized voltage holding device 16 is requested correspond to the first start phase heat engine 2.
- the method of the present invention is capable of being implemented by taking into account only two pieces of information 13,13'; 13.13"; 13'.13" chosen from the three information 13.13'.13" mentioned above.
- the switching of the controlled relay 10 is likely to be forced and in this case, the theoretical support time Tt is constant and fixed arbitrarily.
- the second controlled relay 10' is damaged, and/or following an Operational Safety test, commonly referred to as "SDF", which is operated at the end of driving, it may be chosen to force switching the next time the vehicle is started.
- SDF Operational Safety test
- the value of the theoretical support time Tt is arbitrarily determined at a constant value.
- the theoretical support time Tt obtained by the Applicant is between 0.2 seconds and 6 seconds.
- the centralized voltage maintaining device 16 is not authorized to switch the set of super-capacitors 9, because the start-up authorization will prohibit the switching.
- An improvement is made by using only one flow, namely the theoretical support time Tt, so if the centralized voltage support device 16 receives information comprising a zero support time, the centralized voltage support device 16 prohibits switching.
- a "LIN" bus after the English acronym “Local Interconnect Network”, as a communication medium between the supervision computer 101 of the engine 17 and the centralized voltage maintaining device 16 makes it possible to improve the above process again.
- the "LIN" bus being sensitive to undervoltage, communication can be cut off at the start of start-up.
- the effective support time T e were measured by the supervision computer 101, the latter could not systematically indicate to the centralized voltage maintenance device 16 that the effective support time T e is exceeded if the "LIN" communication is cut off. It is for this reason that the effective support time T e is measured by the centralized voltage holding device 16.
