Description

The invention relates to the field of medical beds, and more specifically to the field of medical beds equipped with barriers.

Medical beds, or medical beds, can be found both in individuals needing home help, and in specialized institutions, such as hospitals, clinics, or retirement homes.

A medical bed generally offers different functionalities for the purpose of relieving a patient. The functionalities thus depend on the pathologies of the patients to whom the bed is intended. However, most medical beds are:
  • wheels to easily move the bed,
  • a system for adjusting the height of the bed base to help the patient to settle on and off the bed,
  • an articulated bed base to raise the bust of the patient, or even to raise the feet,
  • electrical control means of the bed at the disposal of the patient,
  • barriers rising from each side of the bed base to prevent the patient from falling.

The barriers are often retractable, that is to say they can take a raised position, in which they rise above the bed base, and a retracted position in which they are brought under the bed frame, thus allowing the patient to get out of bed or medical staff to have easy access to the patient on the bed and provide care.

There are different designs of barriers to obtain the retracted position.

For example, the barrier comprises a panel pivotally mounted about a longitudinal axis of the bed, so that a rotation of the barrier tilts the panel on one side or the other of the bed of the bed. The document US 2006/0195984 (HAKAMIUN) presents an example of such a barrier.

Alternatively, the barrier may comprise a panel and an arm articulated about longitudinal axes on the one hand on the panel and on the other hand on a spar of the bed. Thus, by rotation of the arm, the panel keeps substantially the same orientation relative to the bed, and can be brought either above the sleeping surface, or below. The documents US 5,732,423 (LAGANIERE) and DE 199 00 602 (WISSNER) present an example of a barrier thus conceived.

Although such barriers accept the retracted position, in this position, they generate a space on the side of the bed when they are in the retracted position, the panel blocking access under the sleeping surface. However, medical beds often have equipment, including electrical, placed under the sleeping surface. It is therefore not desirable to limit access.

The document EP 1 970 038 (SCHELL) proposes to combine a rotational movement about a longitudinal axis of the bed with a translational movement of the barrier, to pass a barrier panel in a raised position in which it is substantially perpendicular to the sleeping plane , and above said plane, and a retracted position, in which the panel is substantially parallel to the coating plane, and placed under said plane. The panel thus no longer blocks access under the sleeping surface.

However, the medical beds, as has already been said, have equipment under the sleeping surface, so that for reasons of space, it is not always possible to place the panel extra.

It has therefore been developed retractable barriers reducing both the size on the side of the bed and under the sleeping surface.

Such barriers may be in the form of deformable parallelograms. Thus, they are formed of amounts mounted pivoting about transverse axes for example on a longitudinal member of the bed, and connected between them not parallel bars to the spar, and mounted also pivoting on the uprights around transverse axes. Thus, in the raised position, the amounts are substantially perpendicular to the bars, the barrier having a maximum vertical dimension to protect the edges of the sleeping surface; in the retracted position, the amounts are folded against the bars, the vertical dimension of the barrier then being minimal, so that its footprint is also minimal. The documents CA 2,454,931 (TEKNION CONCEPT) and EP 1 721 550 (HILL ROM) illustrate examples of such barriers.

Such barriers can also be telescopic, cf. eg. the document DE 20 2008 009355 U1 , which discloses a telescopic barrier further provided with an articulated bar, on the one hand, in a vertical position, to raise the barrier and on the other hand, in a horizontal position, the suspension of a towel.

When care is to be provided to a patient on the sleeping surface, it is therefore easier for the caregiver to put the barrier in the retracted position to access the patient.

However, sometimes the caregiver needs to have access to the patient's back. However, the latter usually rests on the back, so it must roll on its side, or be rolled. When the patient has a reduced mobility, especially the elderly, the rolling motion can be tedious, or even unfeasible, in the absence of a catch. This is why most patients who have to make a rolling movement try to cling to what is available to them. In general, it is a spar of the bed, or a portion of the barrier in the retracted position.

However, the spar or portion of the barrier in question is not adapted to provide an easy grip to the patient, so that the patient must make additional effort to grip it and then perform the rolling motion.

For example, the spar or the barrier portion is not always visible to the patient, or the visible portion is not easily achievable for the patient. This is particularly the case of the articulated bar of the document DE 20 2008 009355 U1 in which, in the retracted position of the barrier, the bar extends against a side face of the mattress, and is therefore particularly difficult to achieve, assuming that the patient has the idea to grip it.

It is then known to position on the bed means for facilitating the rolling movement of the patient on the bed. These means are generally in the form of a handle integral with the bed, placed on the edge of the bed, projecting from the coating plane.

However, such means are permanently available to the patient, so that the latter may seek to roll while he must remain stationary.

Moreover, such means, when they are not necessary, remain projecting with respect to the sleeping surface, so that they can injure the patient who makes a sudden movement.

In addition, such means can not always be put in place because of the presence of the barrier, so that it is not always possible to provide a bed with both a barrier and means to facilitate the while both features are required.

There is therefore a need to provide a bed to provide both a barrier and means to facilitate the ride, which overcomes the disadvantages mentioned.

A first object of the invention is to provide a bed, including a medical bed, comprising a barrier allowing the patient to roll over the bed when necessary.

A second object of the invention is to provide a bed, in particular a medical bed, comprising a barrier and means to facilitate rolling easily achievable for the patient.

A third object of the invention is to provide a bed, in particular a medical bed, comprising a barrier and means to facilitate rolling which limit the risk of injury to the patient.

A fourth object of the invention is to provide a bed, in particular a medical bed, comprising a barrier and means to facilitate rolling which does not increase the cost of manufacturing the bed. The invention provides a bed according to claim 1, in particular a medical bed, comprising a sleeping surface bordered by a longitudinal edge and two transverse edges, called the leading edge and the edge of the feet, the bed further comprising a head barrier. placed along the longitudinal edge, the head barrier comprising a front end and a rear end, the front end being closer to the leading edge than the rear end, the bed comprising a frame on which is fixed a sleeping surface , the head barrier being hinged to the frame and is retractable, the head barrier having a handle for lateral rolling of the patient.

  • la poignée d'aide au roulement du patient est montée articulée à la barrière de tête ;
  • la poignée est positionnée longitudinalement par rapport au lit à une distance comprise entre 25 cm et 60 cm d'un bord de tête du lit ;

  • la poignée d'aide au redressement comporte une section supérieure formant un angle d'environ 30° avec l'horizontale ;
  • la poignée d'aide au redressement est placée à une distance longitudinale du bord de tête, comprise entre 50 cm et 75 cm ;
  • le lit présente un espace libre entre l'extrémité arrière de la barrière de tête et le bord de pieds, l'espace libre s'étendant sur une distance longitudinale supérieure à 40 cm ;
  • la poignée d'aide au redressement est placée à une hauteur de 25 à 50 cm par rapport au plan de couchage ;
  • le lit comprend au moins une barrière de pieds ;
According to various embodiments, the bed has the following characters, if any combined:
  • the patient's rolling assist handle is hingedly mounted to the head barrier;
  • the handle is positioned longitudinally relative to the bed at a distance of between 25 cm and 60 cm from a leading edge of the bed;
  • the head barrier comprises a handle for assisting the recovery of the patient, this handle being substantially square;
  • the rectification assist handle has an upper section at an angle of about 30 ° to the horizontal;
  • the righting aid handle is placed at a longitudinal distance from the leading edge, between 50 cm and 75 cm;
  • the bed has a free space between the rear end of the head barrier and the foot edge, the free space extending over a longitudinal distance greater than 40 cm;
  • the righting aid handle is placed at a height of 25 to 50 cm from the lying surface;
  • the bed comprises at least one foot barrier;
  • the foot barrier is hinged to the frame and retractable; the bed comprises a sleeping surface, the sleeping surface having a head portion hinged to the frame between two positions, an elongate position in which the head portion is substantially horizontal and a sitting position, in which the head portion forms an angle to the horizontal, the hinge being at a distance from the leading edge, measured along the longitudinal edges, between 60 cm and 80 cm.

  • la figure 1 est une vue en perspective d'un lit, un patient allongé sur le lit saisissant une première poignée disposée sur une barrière latérale;
  • la figure 2 est une vue analogue à la figure 1, le patient étant passé en position assise sur le lit;
  • la figure 3 est une vue latérale de détail du lit représenté en figures 1 et 2, la barrière escamotable étant représentée en tirets en position déployée en en traits pleins en position repliée ;
Other objects and advantages of the invention will emerge in the light of the description of a preferred embodiment, given below with reference to the appended drawings in which:
  • the figure 1 is a perspective view of a bed, a patient lying on the bed grasping a first handle disposed on a lateral barrier;
  • the figure 2 is a view similar to the figure 1 , the patient being seated on the bed;
  • the figure 3 is a detail side view of the bed represented in figures 1 and 2 , the retractable barrier being shown in broken lines in the deployed position in solid lines in the folded position;
  • the figure 4 is a perspective view of the bed represented in Figures 1 to 3 , a patient being lying on the bed and grabbing a second handle placed on the half barrier headboard.

On the figure 1 is represented a bed 1 medicalized on wheels 2. The bed 1 comprises a frame comprising a lower frame 3 , an upper frame 4 surmounting the lower frame, and a device 5 for adjusting the height of the upper frame 4 .

The lower frame 3 comprises rails and cross members, the rollers 2 being disposed substantially at the four corners of the lower frame.

The upper frame 4 comprises a frame on which is fixed a sleeping surface. The sleeping surface can comprise two articulated parts, namely a part for the legs of a user and a part for the bust.

The upper frame 4 may include equipment for a user such as a bracket, or a head and a footboard (not shown).

The adjusting device 5 comprises two braces 5a, 5b and a system for actuating the braces, for example an electric jack.

The bed 1 comprises, at least on one of its long lateral sides, two retractable barriers: a first retractable barrier 6 head and a second barrier 7 retractable feet.

Advantageously, the bed 1 comprises on each of its two longitudinal edges a retractable head barrier 6 and a retractable barrier 7 feet.

The first barrier 6 is retractable between a rectified or deployed position, represented in FIG. figures 1 , 2 and 3 , and a folded or retracted position, represented in figures 3 and 4 .

The first barrier 6 is articulated with respect to the upper frame 4 and is formed of tubular elements articulated between them.

The barrier 6 comprises a first tubular element 8 hinged to the upper frame 4 about a transverse axis 9 and a second tubular element 10 articulated to the upper frame 4 about a transverse axis 11.

The head barrier 6 further comprises tubular connecting elements 12, 13, 14, each hinged on the one hand with respect to the first tubular element 8 around a respective transverse axis 15, 16, 17, on the other hand relative to the second tubular element 10 about a respective transverse axis 18, 19, 20.

In the upright position of the head barrier 6 , the first tubular element 8 is substantially vertical and the tubular connecting elements 12, 13, 14 are substantially horizontal. A first tubular connecting element 12 forms the upper edge of the barrier 6 head and extends, as an indication, at a height of 35 cm above the bed.

The second tubular element 10 comprises in the upper part a first handle 21.

The first handle 21 advantageously has a different color from that of the entire first barrier 6. For example, the first handle 21 will be blue, the rest of the first barrier 6 having a gray color typical of a metal part for example aluminum. The user of the bed 1 thus sees his eyes attracted by the handle 21, of a color distinct from the rest of the barrier 6 head and distinct from the usual white of the hospital environment.

In one embodiment, the first handle 21 is coated with a phosphorescent material. Advantageously, the first handle 21 has a non-slip surface. For example, the first handle 21 is coated with an elastomer or is provided with ribs or embossings. The user of the bed 1 and has his touch attracted by this part of the barrier 6 head.

The first handle 21 is advantageously of generally annular shape with a substantially square or trapezoidal contour, allowing it to be grasped in at least six different ways: grasping with one hand on one of the four sides of the first handle 21, or grasping with both hands the first handle 21.

Advantageously, the first handle 21 is placed at a height of approximately 25 to 50 cm with respect to the bed base and at a third of the length of the bed 1. This arrangement allows the person lying on the bed bed 1 on the back or side to grasp without significant displacement of the bust:
  • in right hand, palm upwards, a first handle 21 placed on its right (that is to say on the left of the bed 1 from the point of view of an observer located at the foot of the bed 1 ), as illustrated dotted on the figure 1 , or
  • in the left hand, palm also facing upwards, a first handle 21 placed on its left (that is to say on the right of the bed 1 from the point of view of an observer located at the foot of the bed 1 ).

This provision provides comfort of use, especially for the elderly or suffering from joint problems.

The first handle comprises, in the embodiment shown, four tubular portions preferably forming a trapezoidal contour, namely: a tubular lower portion 21a , an upper portion 21b and two lateral portions 21c, 21d. The lower portion 21a forms an angle A of about 30 ° with the horizontal in the raised position of the head barrier 6 , while the upper portion 21b forms an angle B of about 30 ° with respect to the lower portion 21a ( and therefore about 60 ° to the horizontal), these values being indicative.

In the lowered or retracted position, the head barrier 6 extends below the upper plane of a mattress 40 and above the lower frame 3, the first barrier 6 thus forming no hindrance to the movements of the patient or persons placed around it of the bed 1. Stop stops ensure the end of pivoting stroke of the barrier 6 head in its retracted position.

A mode of use of the first handle 21 in the rectified position of the first barrier 6 will now be described.

At first, the patient will take with his right hand the first handle 21 placed on his right (that is to say to the left of the bed 1 ), for example the lower portion 21a. The position of the first handle 21 (height relative to the bed base, location one-third of the length of the bed) and the angle of about 30 ° that form the lower portion 21a or the upper portion 21b of the handle 21 limit the movements the shoulder of the patient, these shoulder movements can be difficult or painful for the elderly. In addition, the patient does not have to lift the arm or elbow to grab the first handle 21. The foot barrier 7 has been retracted beforehand. Advantageously, during this seizure of the lower portion 21a of the handle 21, the patient's hand is oriented palm facing up. Where appropriate, as represented in figure 1 , the patient can grasp the handle 21 with both hands, grasping with his left hand the upper portion 21b . This provision provides comfort of use, especially for the elderly or suffering from joint problems.

In a second step, the patient, while maintaining its grip of the first handle 21, in particular of the lower portion 21a of the handle 21, will begin to pass his legs on the side of the bed.

In a third step, the patient is seated on the bed 1 and always holds with one or both hands the first handle 21, as illustrated in dashed lines on the figure 2 .

In a fourth step, the patient can get up. It should be noted that no barrier element is placed directly behind the patient's knees or calves, which allows him to place his feet vertically above his center of gravity without having to pull the arms.

In order to perfect the ergonomics of the bed, the first handle 21 is preferably placed at a longitudinal distance from the head edge of the bed between 50 cm and 75 cm, that is to say that it is at the level or below the elbow of the majority of patients.

A second handle 22 is articulated with respect to the first tubular element 8 of the first barrier 6. As is visible in FIG. figure 3 when the first barrier 6 is in the retracted position, this second handle 22 extends substantially close to the upper plane of the mattress 40 and can assist the patient in his movements, especially during repositioning or tilting on the side, for example during care. For this purpose, the handle 22 is positioned longitudinally with respect to the bed 1 at a distance of between 25 cm and 60 cm from a leading edge of the bed 1, which corresponds to the shoulder of a patient of average lengthened length. on the bed 1.

The second handle 22 advantageously has a different color from that of the entire barrier 6 head. For example, the second handle 22 will be blue, the rest of the first barrier 6 having a gray color typical of a metal piece for example aluminum. The user of the bed 1 thus sees his eyes attracted by the handle 22, of a color distinct from the rest of the barrier 6 and distinct from the usual white of the hospital environment.

In one implementation, the second handle 22 is coated with a phosphorescent material. Advantageously, the second handle 22 has a non-slip surface. For example, the second handle is coated with an elastomer or is provided with ribs or embossings. The user of the bed thus has his touch attracted by this part of the first barrier.

The second handle 22 is advantageously retractable by being mounted articulated with respect to the tubular element 8 around an axis coincident with this element 8 or, as illustrated in the figures, parallel thereto. Thus, in the exemplary embodiment illustrated, the handle 22 is articulated by each of its ends around a pivot at the end of a finger 22a integral with the tubular element 8 .

In its folded position, illustrated on the Figures 1 to 3 and dotted on the figure 4 the second handle 22 does not interfere with the movements of the patient when he leaves the bed or enters it. In its raised position, illustrated in solid lines on the figure 4 the second handle 22 provides a function of assisting the patient's rolling.

The second handle 22 preferably has a curved shape, arc or elliptical arc and thus has a substantially horizontal section and parallel to the bed, when the second handle 22 is in the raised position.

This second handle 22 can be used when the head barrier 6 is in the lowered position, as shown in FIG. figure 4 , where a tilting of the patient on the side is necessary. Rather than helping the patient perform this movement, the caregiver tilts the handle from its folded position to its raised position, as indicated by the arrow on the figure 4 .

With the head barrier 6 in its folded position, the tubular element 8 around which the handle 22 is articulated extends substantially horizontally, or slightly obliquely, below the upper surface of the mattress 40. In its raised position, the The handle is at least partially projecting above the mattress 40, so that it is sufficient for the patient to grasp the handle 22 of the hand opposite the side of the bed where the handle 22 is located , and to pull on his arm to tilt on the side, as indicated by the arrow on the figure 4 . In order to allow the patient to seize the handle 22, it can be provided with a stop system which blocks it in the raised position. This system operates for example snap or friction. Alternatively, it is the caregiver who holds the handle 22 in the raised position.

The handle 22 allows the patient not only to get on, but also to stay on the side when lying on the bed 1, in a so-called lateral rolling position facilitating some care or avoiding necrosis. Access to this second handle 22 promotes autonomy and rehabilitation, while reducing the efforts of health care personnel in mobilizing the patient.

The blocking means in the deployed and retracted position of the first barrier 6 are advantageously placed at the working height of the caregiver, who thus does not have to bend or stretch their arms to actuate them. These locking means are for example friction latches, known in themselves.

The second barrier 7 is retractable between a rectified or deployed position, represented in FIG. figure 4 and a folded or retracted position, represented in figures 1 and 2 .

The second barrier 7 is hingedly mounted relative to the upper frame 4 and is formed of tubular elements hinged together. The second barrier 7 comprises a first tubular element 23 hinged to the upper frame 4 about a transverse axis 24 and a second tubular element 25 hinged to the upper frame 4 about a transverse axis 26.

The second barrier 7 further comprises tubular connecting elements 27, 28, 29 each of these connecting elements being hinged on the one hand with respect to the first tubular element 23 around a transverse axis 30, 31, 32, of secondly with respect to the second tubular element 25 about a transverse axis 33, 34, 35.

In the upright position of the second barrier 7, the first tubular element 23 is substantially vertical and the tubular connecting elements 27, 28, 29 are substantially horizontal. A first tubular connecting element 29 forms the upper edge of the barrier 7 feet and extends, as an indication, at a height of 35 cm above the bed.

In the lowered or retracted position, the barrier 7 feet extends below the upper plane of the mattress 40 and above the lower frame 3, the barrier 7 thus forming no hindrance to the movements of the patient or persons placed around the bed 1 . the end stops ensure the end of pivoting travel of the second barrier 7 in its retracted position.

The locking means in the extended and retracted position of the barrier 7 of feet are advantageously placed at the working height of the caregiver, who thus does not have to bend or stretch their arms to actuate them. These locking means are for example friction latches, known in themselves.

In one embodiment, the barriers 6 and 7 have a substantially identical structure, with the exception of the handles 21, 22 attached to the first barrier 6. The elements of the bed 1 are made for example of metal, such as aluminum , or alloy, for example stainless steel. Decorative wood planks can be detachably attached to the side members and sleepers.
