Definitions
- the invention relates to the field of vehicle optical units comprising a ventilation channel, and more specifically optical unit housings through which passes one or more ventilation channels.
- the ventilation channel reduces the condensation of water or humidity in the optical unit and in particular, on the rear face of its outer glass.
- the ventilation channel often requires the addition of one or more parts at the level of the optical unit housing, increasing the complexity and / or the size of the optical unit.
- a ventilation channel is known between the inside and the outside of a vehicle optical unit housing, comprising on the one hand a baffle passing outside a seal and on the other hand a protruding roof (element 10 in the figures) for protecting this baffle against water flows.
- a drawback of this prior art is that it requires, on the one hand, a baffle in the ventilation channel and, on the other hand, above all, an additional part for protecting this baffle in the form of a protruding roof, an additional part making the shape of the rear face of the optical unit housing more specific and more complex, as well as more bulky.
- the invention aims to implement a ventilation channel in a simpler and less restrictive manner by using the seal located around the indexing pins of the optical unit housing on the vehicle.
- a vehicle optical unit housing according to the subject of the characterizing part of claim 1.
- a vehicle optical unit housing comprising: a front face intended to receive an optical unit glass; a rear face intended to be fixed to a vehicle wall, comprising a housing indexing pin on the wall in the form of a point and a seal surrounding the indexing pin so as to seal the space around the indexing pin with respect to the rest of the gap located between the housing and the wall; a ventilation channel between the space on the front side of the housing and the space on the rear side of the housing, the ventilation channel passing through at least one opening made inside the seal, characterized in that the pin d the indexing is surrounded by a collar arranged so as to crush the seal against the wall of the vehicle against which the optical unit housing is intended to rest, the optical unit housing having one or more holes between the pin d indexing and the flange which surrounds it so that the ventilation channel passes through this hole or holes.
- the opening passes through the seal.
- the opening can include one or more holes.
- the contour of the opening made inside the gasket is surrounded by the gasket material.
- the seal is for example made of rubber or of another elastic and waterproof material. The opening allows the passage of the ventilation channel after mounting the optical unit on the vehicle, that is to say even after compression of the gasket sealing between the rear face of the optical unit housing and the vehicle wall against which this rear face of the optical unit housing rests.
- the seal is a seal surrounding the indexing pin and sealing only the opening of the housing located at the level of the indexing pin, or in a pinch a geographically limited area around the indexing pin. It is therefore not a large seal that would go all the way around the rear face of the housing, sealing all the openings. that this housing face would include, because this large seal would be much more complex and expensive and would run the risk of ultimately being less robust, in particular over time.
- the seal has, at the level of its opening (s), an opening portion or an opening which goes around the indexing pin while remaining in contact with the indexing pin over more than half of its length. its periphery and advantageously over almost all of its periphery, for example over more than 90% of its periphery. Nonetheless, not going around the entire periphery has the advantage of being able, using a single opening in the seal, to both surround the indexing pin and the free passage for the ventilation.
- the indexing pin passes through the seal.
- the indexing pin is any indexing protuberance, whether it has a simple pointed shape or a more complex shape comprising, for example, several pins.
- the indexing pin is a centering element. It is preferably a simple indexing tip.
- the seal is a perforated washer.
- the seal has great simplicity of manufacture and installation, with a minimal additional cost, compared to a conventional seal not crossed by a ventilation channel, as well as a minimized size and also low or practically as weak as a conventional gasket not crossed by a ventilation channel.
- the seal performing the ventilation channel passage function can still be used for another similar indexing pin, but without the ventilation channel passage. This reduces the number of references for the seals of the optical unit.
- the indexing pin is surrounded by a collar.
- the collar is arranged so as to be able to crush the seal against the wall of the vehicle against which the optical unit housing rests.
- the ventilation channel passes through this hole or holes.
- the ventilation channel does not include a baffle at the level of the crossing of the wall of the housing.
- a baffle could exist, possibly as a second security, but precisely, thanks to the invention, it becomes rather unnecessary.
- the seal comprises several openings located on either side of the indexing pin. The tolerance to the angular offset of the seal around the indexing pin during its assembly is then greater.
- the invention also relates to an optical unit incorporating an optical unit housing according to the invention.
- the invention also relates to an optical unit comprising a housing according to the invention, this housing being closed by an external glass, at least one light source being arranged on the one hand inside the space delimited by the housing and by the outer glass and on the other hand in the central part of the rear face of the housing.
- the optical unit can be a projector, located at the front of the vehicle, or a light, located at the rear of the vehicle.
- the rear face of the housing is the face of the housing which is opposite the outer glass of the optical unit located at the front of the optical unit.
- the terms front and rear are given in relation to the optical unit, its front part being turned towards the outside of the vehicle, its rear part being turned towards the inside of the vehicle, and not with respect to the vehicle, because if there is correspondence for a projector, there is an inversion for a fire.
- said indexing pin at which the ventilation channel passes through the housing is located on the periphery of the rear face of the housing.
- This indexing pin is therefore remote from the light source (s) of the optical unit located in the central part of the rear face of the housing.
- This indexing pin is located on one or the other of the wings of the optical unit.
- the hole in the wall of the optical unit housing at the level of the indexing pin is located behind a mask making it invisible from outside the optical unit, for a vehicle user looking at the glass of the optical unit.
- the housing of the optical unit can be crossed by one or more other ventilation channels, possibly of more conventional structure.
- the invention also relates to a vehicle comprising an optical unit housing according to the invention or else an optical unit according to the invention.
- the space which is located at the rear of the wall of the vehicle against which the rear face of the housing of the optical unit rests and into which the ventilation channel emerges from inside the housing of the optical unit is preferably a moisture-proof space or preferably a space which, if it is not moisture-proof, at least prevents water flows and water projections from entering the ventilation channel to arrive by this path inside the optical block housing.
- the optical unit housing rests on a vehicle wall through which the indexing pin extends and behind which is a hollow body inside the vehicle.
- This hollow body by virtue of its disposition, is less subject to runoff or splashing water, which allows the ventilation channel to unblock it without any special protection or arrangement, while eliminating or at the very least greatly limiting the risks of introduction of water or moisture inside the optical unit housing, which would otherwise cause condensation on the exterior glass of the optical unit on the one hand unsightly and, in the extreme, troublesome for the photometry of the optical unit.
- a vehicle includes in particular a truck, a car, a bus.
- a vehicle is preferably a motor vehicle, advantageously land.
- a vehicle is preferably a car.
- the directions and the front and rear sides are given in relation to the optical unit and not in relation to the vehicle.
- the front side of the optical unit is the side facing the outside of the vehicle, therefore visible to a user looking at the optical unit from outside the vehicle.
- the rear side of the optical unit is the side facing the interior of the vehicle, therefore invisible to a user looking at the optical unit from outside the vehicle.
- the figure 1 schematically shows an exploded view of an example of an arrangement of an optical unit housing resting on a vehicle wall.
- the rear face 1 of the optical unit housing will come to rest on the wall 3 of the vehicle, compressing the seal 2 between the rear face 1 of the housing and the wall 3 of the vehicle.
- the rear face 1 of the housing comprises an indexing pin 10, for example in the shape of a cross, surrounded by a flange 11 which is the element which will come into contact with the periphery of the seal 2 in order to compress it against the vehicle wall 3.
- the rear face 1 of the housing is pierced with two holes 12 and 13 arranged between the indexing pin 10 and the flange 11.
- the ventilation channel between the interior and the exterior of the optical unit housing passes through the rear face 1 passing through holes 12 and 13.
- the seal 2 comprises an opening 20 through which the ventilation channel will pass. More precisely, the holes 22 and 23 of the opening 20 will be placed opposite, at least partially, the holes 12 and 13 of the rear face 1 of the housing.
- the central opening 21, for example in the form of a cross, will surround the indexing pin 10 while being in contact over most of its periphery, with the exception of the ends of two branches of the cross shape.
- the indexing pin 10 will come through the central opening 21 to go through the opening 30 of the wall 3 of the vehicle.
- the indexing pin 10 will be able to play its role of relative positioning and limitation of relative movement between, on the one hand, the rear face 1 of the housing and, on the other hand, the wall 3 of the vehicle against which it will rest. this rear face 1 of the housing.
- the figure 2 schematically shows a front view of the rear face of an optical unit housing according to the invention, with integration of the seal surrounding the indexing pin of the optical unit housing on the vehicle wall.
- Gasket seal 2 is placed around the indexing point 10. Only the peripheral part 24 of the seal 2, located around the central part 25 of the seal, is compressed by the pressure exerted by the flange 11 of the rear face 1 of the housing, flange 11 which is here hidden by the peripheral part 24 of the seal 2.
- the central opening 21 of the seal 2 surrounds the indexing pin 10, following its cross shape .
- the holes 12 and 13 of the rear face 1 of the housing are respectively, although only partially, facing the holes 22 and 23 of the seal so as to maintain two free passages through which the ventilation channel passes between the interior and exterior of the gasket. housing.
- the assembly comprising the holes 22 and 23 represents the opening 20 made inside the seal 2, opening 20 through which the ventilation channel passes.
- the figure 3 schematically represents a profile view corresponding to a section AA with respect to the figure 2 .
- the crossing of the opening 20 of the seal 2 and of the opening 30 of the vehicle wall 3 is clearly visible, as well as the compression of the seal 2 by the flange 11 of the rear face 1 of the housing .
- Also shown is the ventilation channel 4 through which the air can pass from the inside of the case to the outside of the case and vice versa.
- the space 5 located between the indexing pin 10 and the flange 11 is sealed with respect to the remainder 6 of the gap between the rear face 1 of the housing and the wall 3 of the vehicle against which this rear face 1 rests. , thanks to the arrangement of the seal 2 and its opening 20 crossed by the ventilation channel 4.
- the remainder 6 of the gap between the rear face 1 and wall 3 there may possibly be water flows or splashes of water, without this affecting the sealing of the optical unit housing, because this remaining gap 6 is precisely separated in a sealed manner from the space 5 through the seal 2.
- the space 7 represents the interior of the housing, while the space 8 located behind the vehicle wall 3 represents the exterior of the housing, interior and exterior connected by the ventilation channel 4.
- This space 8 is advantageously a sealed hollow body with respect to the outside of the vehicle, it is at least preferably a space 8, the arrangement of which does not allow water to flow or splash of water. 'water pass from the exterior space 8 to the interior space 7 via the ventilation channel 4.
