Description

The present invention relates to a method for attaching a lining to a watch cladding element coated with a galvanically deposited metal layer and to a cladding element produced by this method.

When it comes to implanting or incorporating a trim into a watchmaking element, and the latter must be coated with a galvanically deposited metal layer, the element is first pierced at least partially. hole thus formed being adapted to the dimensions of the insert to be incorporated.

If, after this operation, the galvanic deposit is made, the hole will be obstructed by the deposition and a new machining operation of the hole will be necessary with the risk of radiation from the deposit at the inlet of the hole which then has edges which are not straightforward, which aesthetically is not acceptable for a piece of high-end.

We know of the document WO2010 / 081557 a watchmaking element comprising gaskets and a galvanically deposited metal layer. We also know documents EP0620987 FR2627512 methods of crimping stones by electroforming.

Thus, the present method, besides it obeys what is said in the first paragraph of this description, and besides it comprises the first succession of the following steps: providing a substrate serving as a covering element, providing a lining intended to be incorporated into the substrate and perforation of the substrate to the dimensions of the lining to be incorporated, is remarkable in that it is introduced into the hole thus formed a lure adapted to the dimensions of said hole, which is deposited galvanically a metal layer on said substrate, that is carried out the leveling, if necessary, of the metal layer, that the lure is removed from the substrate and that introduced the liner into the substrate which is fixed for example by gluing.

The present invention also relates to the watchmaking element defined by claim 3 of the patent.

The features and advantages of the present invention will emerge from the description which follows, made with reference to the appended drawings and giving, by way of explanation, but in no way limiting, an advantageous embodiment, drawings in which:
  • the figure 1 shows a radial section in a substrate serving as a covering element, here a watch bezel,
  • the figure 2 shows a gasket to be incorporated into the substrate, here a phosphorescent pellet,
  • the figure 3 shows the perforated substrate to introduce the filling,
  • the figure 4 shows a lure introduced into the hole of the substrate,
  • the figure 5 shows the galvanic deposition operation,
  • the figure 6 shows the leveling operation of the galvanic deposit,
  • the figure 7 shows the substrate freed from lure and
  • the figure 8 shows the finished substrate with its trim.

The figure 1 has a watchmaking cladding element 2 called substrate in which will be incorporated a liner. More precisely this is a watch bezel. A lining 1 is shown in figure 2 . This is a phosphorescent pellet 6 deposited under a sapphire crystal 7, all carried by the liner 1. Such a pellet is known under the name of luminova (registered trademark). In figure 3 , the substrate 2 is perforated from one side. According to one variant, the hole may be a blind hole. This perforation comprises several floors. The stages 8 and 9 are intended to receive the pellet 1 and the stage 10 is practiced to receive the galvanic deposit as will be seen later.

In the substrate 2 thus perforated, a lure 5 is introduced as shown in FIG. figure 4 . This lure is a temporary insert and is the essential part of the present invention. It avoids the penetration of the future galvanic deposit in the hole 8, reason for which the lure 5 is sized to fit perfectly to the geometry of the hole 8 so as to avoid any infiltration deposit on the diameter in question. The lure 5 is made of insulating material, for example plastic. It can also be obtained by injection of polyoxymethylene (POM).

In the case where the substrate 2 is metallic, steel or brass for example, the electroplating operation is carried out without problem, it is also necessary to save the areas that must remain without deposit, which is not very simple. In the preferred case where the substrate is made of insulating material, for example ZrO 2 ceramic (zirconium dioxide) or the appropriate plastic material, it is necessary to coat the substrate 2 with a metallization which will precede the electroplating itself. For this purpose, can be deposited, for example by PVD, a thin layer of chromium (50nm) and gold (50nm) on which the galvanic deposit may well adhere, this deposit may be gold type 5N18. The figure 5 shows that the deposit 3 may be irregular. In this case and if necessary, it is proceeded to the leveling of the deposit which allows it to remain only in the desired place, here not exceeding the stage 10. The figure 6 shows how the substrate 2 is after the upgrade. This figure also shows that the lure 5 has been put at the same level as the deposit 3. This operation is completed can remove the lure 5 of the substrate 2 by pushing from the rear in the direction of the arrow A.

The figure 7 shows the substrate 2 freed from decoy 5. No adhesion has occurred between the decoy head and the galvanic deposit 3, the periphery of the latter is clear and clean. Finally, the filling 1 can be introduced into the space thus prepared as shown in FIG. figure 8 . The liner is held in place by glue applied to places marked 11 on the figure 8 . The lining may also be attached by driving or other suitable fastening method.

On pourrait donc incorporer à ladite lunette douze index indiquant l'heure. The description that has just been given emphasizes a single lining 1, in this case a phosphorescent pellet equipping a rotating watch bezel, this pellet equipping for example a diving watch intended to indicate the decompression stops to be respected. . It is clear that several fittings could be incorporated in the same way on a substrate, for example a telescope. One could thus incorporate to said telescope twelve indexes indicating the time.

As has been said above, the present invention concerns not only the method used to produce a trim element with a trim, but also the trim element itself executed according to said method, this element or substrate being made of conductive material, for example steel or non-conductive material, for example ceramic. More precisely the element taken as an example here is a watch bezel, but it could also be the middle part or the dial of the watch. Similarly, the trim associated with the trim element is not limited to a phosphorescent pellet, but could be hour markers implanted in a telescope as suggested above.
