Claims (10)

  1. A device for facilitating the mounting of a snap ring (30) of a piston pin (60) of a vehicle engine, in particular of a motor vehicle engine, characterized in that it comprises:
    • a piston support (2), which has a means for placing in position of the piston along a direction such that the piston pin is substantially vertical, and
    • a mounting tool (1), intended to push the snap ring (30) progressively in its receiving groove (52) provided in the piston, the said mounting tool (1) having a guidance and engagement system (12, 13) of the said snap ring (30) which hooks, lowers and pushes the snap ring (30) during the downward and rotational movement of the mounting tool (1) until the snap ring (30) comes to be housed in the said receiving groove (52).
  2. The device according to claim 1, characterized in that the said guidance and engagement system of the snap ring (30) in its receiving groove (52) is formed by two coaxial adjacent collars, projecting radially from the mounting tool (1), a first collar or "large collar" (13), of greater diameter than the second collar (12), extending angularly over an incomplete circumference, leaving a truncated angular sector of an angle comprised between 80° and 90°; and the said second collar (12) having in this truncated angular sector a reduction in radius ("e") substantially in the order of the diameter of the section ("d") of the snap ring (30), so as to permit the taking of the snap ring (30) by the mounting tool (1).
  3. The device according to claim 1, characterized in that the said means for placing in position of the piston along a direction such that the piston pin is substantially vertical is constituted by a centring dowel (20) fixed on the surface (2A) of the support (2), the said centring dowel having a shoulder (27) intended to receive a lateral end face of the piston (50).
  4. The device according to claim 1, characterized in that the said mounting tool (1), intended to push the snap ring (30) progressively in its receiving groove (52), includes a cylindrical end part (11) including an axial bore which cooperates with an end rod (25) of the centring dowel (20) to guide the movements of the mounting tool (1) during the mounting of the snap ring (30).
  5. The device according to claim 4, characterized in that the said end rod (25) of the centring dowel is mounted in a screwed manner on the centring dowel (20).
  6. The device according to claim 2, characterized in that the diameter (12A) of the second collar (12) is substantially equal to the internal diameter of the snap ring (30) in mounted position in its receiving groove (52).
  7. The device according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the snap ring is of circular section with a diameter close to 1.4 mm.
  8. The device according to claims 2 and 7, characterized in that the radius of the large collar (13) is greater than the radius of the other collar (12) by a value substantially equal to the radius ("d/2") of the circular section of the snap ring (30).
  9. The device according to claim 3, characterized in that the said centring dowel (20) has a shoulder (24) of its upper lateral surface beyond the guide rod, which shoulder (24) permits evading of the first snap ring (30) already in place in its receiving groove during the mounting of the second snap ring of the piston pin (60).
  10. A method for mounting a snap ring (30) of a piston pin (60) of a vehicle engine by means of the device according to claim 1, in particular of a motor vehicle engine, characterized by the following steps, taken in combination:
    • the piston (50) and its piston pin (60) are placed on the piston support (20), such that the lower lateral surface of the piston (60) comes to abut on the radial support surface (27) defined by the shoulder (23) of the centring dowel (20),
    • the snap ring (30) is placed with overlapping of the receiving groove (52) of the piston in which it is intended to be placed,
    • the mounting tool (1) is engaged on the centring dowel (20) of the support (2),
    • the mounting tool (1) is lowered, well positioned as a function of the position of the snap ring (30) and then it is given a rotational movement, so as to hook, lower and push the snap ring towards the receiving groove (52),
    • once the snap ring (30) is in place in its receiving groove (52), the mounting tool (1) is raised again.
