Abstract

Es wird ein Steckverbinder zum Verbinden mit einem Gegenstecker beispielsweise in Kraftfahrzeugen beschrieben. Der Steckverbinder weist ein Gehäuseteil (5), eine flexible Dichtmatte (9) und eine Druckplatte (37) auf. Die Druckplatte (37) kann in dem Steckverbinder in Richtung (43) hin zu der Dichtmatte (9) verlagert werden, um mechanischen Druck auf die Dichtmatte (9) auszuüben. Die Dichtmatte (9) ist derart ausgestaltet, dass Öffnungen (17), durch die ein Kontaktelement (21) in das Gehäuseteil (5) eingebracht werden kann, unter einem von der Druckplatte (37) ausgeübten Druck ihren Querschnitt verkleinern. Somit kann der Steckverbinder zunächst in einer ersten Konfiguration, bei der die Druckplatte (37) keinen Druck auf die Dichtmatte (9) ausübt, mit Kontaktelementen (21) bestückt werden. Anschließend kann mit Hilfe der Druckplatte (37) Druck auf die Dichtmatte (9) ausgeübt werden, so dass Ränder der Öffnungen (17) sich dichtend um Kontaktelemente (21) bzw. daran angebrachte Kabel (47) legen können.
