The present invention claims the priority of the French application 0955102 filed July 22, 2009 whose content (text, drawings and claims) is here incorporated by reference.
The present invention relates to a compact architecture front block for a motor vehicle, in particular for a motor vehicle with 3-cylinder engine, also called: "Compact front block".
[0003] Conventionally, in today's motor vehicles, the suction air resonator, implanted in the space designated "under-hood", is arranged, in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, between the powertrain and the control system. engine cooling, that is to say mainly the radiator.
We have already sought to gain space in the front part of motor vehicles.
By way of example, JP 81 14120 A2 describes a radiator fan frame to which a resonator is attached. The resonator is integrally formed - i.e. formed in one piece - with the main body of the fan frame, so as to reduce both the number of parts, the assembly operations and the occupied space .
By way of example also, the document FR 2 879 155 discloses a motor vehicle front support, which comprises an integrated cavity formed by the union of a first half-shell forming part of the front face support and a second half-shell made separately. The two half-shells have respective junction zones which are joined together to form a hollow shell. This shell can serve as a reservoir for holding different types of fluids such as, for example, a coolant, a washer fluid, a brake fluid, etc. Another example is also given by the document US 2005/0279547 A1, which describes a vehicle front block structure, wherein a liquid reservoir or a suction air resonator is mounted on a front panel. The facade is resin and substantially shaped frame. It has an opening in which is disposed a heat exchanger. It is formed "monobloc" on each of its two side edges with body fasteners which are intended to be fixed to the front rails of right and left, respectively. The fasteners are also "monobloc" on their outer part in the transverse direction of the vehicle with crankcase positioning parts on which are mounted a liquid tank housing and another housing for an air resonator sucked in the vicinity two body fasteners, respectively.
The object of the present invention is to provide a vehicle front block which, in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, is more compact than the known front blocks of the prior art, so as to release a substantially large space under the bonnet.
Another object of the present invention is to provide such a front block, the new architecture allows a significant reduction of the front overhang of the vehicle. [ooio] Finally, it is also an object of the present invention to provide such a front block, which is of design, construction and simple assembly, which provides a gain in mass and is economical.
To achieve these goals, the present invention relates to a front block which comprises in particular an air resonator sucked in connection with the vehicle air filter and a front technical front, which is located in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, between the powertrain and the energy absorbing beam of shocks. In this facade is integrated at least the radiator of the engine cooling system. According to the principle of the present invention, the resonator is also integrated in the front technical front and extends substantially in the plane of the latter, so as to free up space under the vehicle hood and reduce the front overhang of the vehicle.
The front technical front is constituted by a frame. According to the embodiment of the invention, the radiator is mounted on the part of the front technical front located on the left side of the vehicle, while the resonator is mounted on the portion of said facade located on the right side of the vehicle.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the resonator is mounted on the front technical front so as to be entirely located at a sufficient distance above the energy absorption beam shocks to not be impacted in case of shock and recoil of said beam.
This sufficient distance may advantageously be of the order of 5mm at least.
The constituent frame of the facade has a substantially rectangular shape with two substantially horizontal profiles, two substantially vertical side profiles and a substantially vertical intermediate profile sharing the integration space of the radiator and the integration space of the resonator.
In addition, the frame has at its two upper corners a means of support and attachment of the frame on the right structure and the left structure of the vehicle body, respectively.
Preferably, the resonator positioning means on the frame of the front technical front are made directly and together with said facade, and therefore "monoblocks" with the latter.
The front technical front can be made of plastic. The volume of the resonator may be substantially of the order of 3 liters. The invention also relates to a motor vehicle, in particular a vehicle with a motor having 3 cylinders, which comprises a compact front unit conform to that described above in outline.
Other objects, advantages and features of the invention will appear in the following description of a preferred embodiment, not limiting the object and scope of the present patent application, accompanied by drawings in which :
• la figure 1 est une vue en perspective illustrant l'architecture de bloc avant compact, selon la présente invention, • la figure 2 est une vue de dessus de l'architecture de bloc avant compact de la figure 1 , FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating the compact front block architecture according to the present invention; FIG. 2 is a view from above of the compact front block architecture of FIG. 1;
FIG. 5 is a front view showing the position, in the vertical direction, of the resonator with respect to the energy absorption beam in the event of an impact.
With reference to the drawing of Figures 1 and 2, there is shown a front block architecture according to the principle of the present invention. The aspirated air resonator, reference 1, is integrated in the front technical front, general reference 2. For example, it may be a resonator with a volume substantially of the order of 3 liters. The front technical front 2 is, in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle (XX axis of Figure 2), between the powertrain 3 of the vehicle and the energy absorption beam, also called shock beam, referenced 4. The facade also incorporates the radiator 5 of the engine cooling system. The reference 6 (FIG. 2) denotes the duct of the resonator 1 which connects, in a manner known per se, the latter to the air filter.
This new architecture allows, unlike conventional implementations of the resonator between the powertrain (GMP) and the front technical, significantly reduce the front overhang of the vehicle avoiding the stacking GMP / resonator / radiator according to the axis XX of the vehicle. The present invention reduces the length of this stack by placing on the same longitudinal level the resonator and the cooling function.
The front technical front 2 consists essentially of a frame, on which are fixed the resonator 1 and the radiator 5.
This frame is best shown in Figure 3, the radiator 5 being mounted on the part of the front technical front located on the left side of the vehicle, while the resonator 1 is mounted on the part of said facade on the right side of the vehicle. The frame 2 is made of plastic and has a substantially rectangular shape with two substantially horizontal sections 2a, 2b, two lateral profiles 2c, 2d substantially vertical, and an intermediate profile substantially vertical section 2i sharing the integration space of the radiator 5 and the integration space of the resonator 1. The frame has at its two upper angles a support and fixing means 2F1, respectively 2F2, of the frame 2 on the right structure 7 (right front spar) and the left structure 8 (left front spar) of the vehicle body, respectively.
As illustrated by the drawing of Figure 4, it will be noted that the positioning and fixing means of the resonator 1 on the front technical front 2 are made directly and together with the front 2, and are therefore "monoblocks" with the latter. The positioning means, made of plastic, receive the resonator by matching shapes, and means of fixation, screw type for example, immobilize the resonator 1 on the frame.
As shown in the drawing of Figure 5, the resonator 1 is mounted on the front technical front 2 so as to be entirely located at a distance "D" sufficient above the energy absorption beam shocks 4 to not be impacted in the event of impact and recoil of said beam 4.
This distance "D" sufficient is of the order of 5mm at least.
The reference 10 (Figures 3 and 5) designates the lock of the hood of the vehicle.
The front block described above has many advantages, among which the following advantages:
In addition, the new architecture of the front block is not binding for the style, the air intake position of the newly placed resonator being symmetrical to that of the resonator in the prior architecture.
Of course, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown above as examples; other embodiments may be devised by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope and scope of the present invention.
