Beim Öffnen des Ventils wird somit ein ringförmiger Durchflussquerschnitt freigegeben bzw. vergrößert. Die zur Funktion des Einspritzinjektors 8 erforderliche Kraftstoffsteuermenge gelangt über die Niederdruckleitungen 17 wieder zurück in den Tank 1. Um auch während des Stillstands des Motors eine Zirkulation des Kraftstoffs im Leitungssystem gewährleisten zu können, führt vom Rail 6 ausgehend eine weitere Hochdruckleitung 15 zu einem Spülventil 9, das angesteuert vom Steuergerät 10 eine Teilmenge des Kraftstoffs direkt in Niederdruckleitungen 16 absteuern kann, die direkt zurück zum Tank 1 führen.In Fig. 1 is a common rail heavy fuel injection system shown schematically.   1.
