In fact, when carriage 4 rests on plates 35, 260, these in no way serve to direct and orient carriage 4, which at this stage is directed and oriented by one of cams 36, 37, 38, 261, 263 and by cam follower assembly 39, 263. In a variation, not shown, of the Figure 3 embodiment, each of switching devices 25, 26, 27 is replaced by a switching device 250.
