Abstract

The system (101) has a light source (102) e.g. LED, for emitting light through an opening (109). A part of the light emitted by the light source is deflectable and uncouplable by a device i.e. light conductor (112). The opening for light function e.g. low beam or high beam of headlight, is optically lockable with another device i.e. screen (108), where the light, which is emitted by the light source and strikes on the latter device for supply of another light function e.g. day headlight, is not uncouplable.

Description

The present invention relates to a headlamp system for a vehicle having a light source, an opening through which the light emitted by the light source passes to provide a first light function, and a first device, by means of which at least a part of the light emitted by the light source to provide a second light function can be deflected and decoupled.

In the automotive field, have a variety of headlamp systems for different applications, such. B. established for low beam, long-distance and daytime running lights with different light sources. As light sources incandescent lamps, halogen lamps, gas discharge lamps and LEDs were used for the different applications. In the redesign of vehicles often results in the problem that for aerodynamic and design reasons, the space that is provided for lighting arrangements, is very limited. This must be taken into account when designing the new headlamp systems. It is therefore advantageous to integrate different light functions in a headlight module and possibly even use only a single light source for different light functions.

The DE 10 2005 023 817 A1 describes, for example, a vehicle headlamp with a light source whose light emission can be used for two light functions. For the second light function, a pivotable mirror is brought into the main emission direction for the first light function. This mirror can deflect the light of the first light function partly so that the light is coupled into a light guide and coupled out at any location as a second light function.

The DE 100 03 061 A1 describes a lighting system for motor vehicles with a daytime signal light function, wherein a headlamp is used with only one discharge lamp, a reflector and a lying in the main emission adjustable diaphragm.

The DE 195 26 023 A1 describes a headlamp for generating defined light / dark boundaries for asymmetrical low beam, with apertures and reflectors be used. Furthermore, the document describes possibilities for using further light functions when using only one light source.

It is the object of the present invention to develop a headlamp system of the type mentioned above such that at least two light functions can be provided with only one light source, wherein the structure of the headlamp system can be flexibly adapted to different space conditions.

According to the invention this object is achieved by a headlamp system with the features of claim 1. Advantageous training and further developments emerge from the dependent claims.

The headlamp system according to the invention is characterized by a second device, with which the opening for the first light function is optically closed, wherein the light emitted from the light source and incident on the second device light can not be coupled out to provide the second light function. The second device is provided in particular separately from the first device.

Advantageously, the headlamp system according to the invention can be adapted very flexibly to different space conditions, since the first means for deflecting and decoupling the light for the second light function can be formed and arranged independently of the second means for closing the opening for the first light function. Furthermore, in the headlamp system according to the invention, a plurality of light functions can be provided more flexibly. Namely, if, as in the introductory cited prior art, closed by a device at the same time the beam path for a light function and coupled out light for another light function, both light functions can not be operated together. However, if, as in the headlight system according to the invention, the beam path for the one light function can be closed or opened independently of the light extraction for the other light function, both light functions can be operated both separately and together.

According to a further embodiment of the headlamp system, the second device comprises a pivotable or displaceable diaphragm. Advantageously, the selection of the installation space can be chosen flexibly by this design, since the aperture can be moved from different sides in front of the opening.

According to a further embodiment of the headlight system, the first device comprises at least one reflector. An advantage of the use of a reflector is that it is inexpensive and robust enough for use in motor vehicles.

According to a further embodiment of the headlight system, the reflector for the light outcoupling of the light emission of the light source for the second light function is pivotable or displaceable, wherein light emitted by the light source is reflected by the reflector in a first position and the reflector is not in the beam path in a second position the light emitted by the light source is located. Advantageously, the reflector does not influence the first light function in the second position, while the reflector in the first position can purposefully decouple the light.

According to a further embodiment, at least one further reflector is provided for deflecting the decoupled light. Advantageously, the light can be passed around constructions in this way, in order ultimately to be radiated at a desired location.

According to a further embodiment of the headlamp system, the first device may comprise at least one light guide. Advantageously, in this way the coupled-out light can be conducted in a very simple and flexible manner over installation spaces which are difficult to access and greater distances.

According to a further embodiment of the headlamp system, the light guide can be split in light extraction direction, so as to couple out the light for the second light function at a plurality of locations. Advantageously, the light for the second light function can thereby be provided flexibly at several locations.

The first light function of the headlight system may be a dipped beam and / or a high beam, the second light function a daytime running light and / or a position light. Advantageously, multiple light functions can thus be provided flexibly. The dipped beam can be used in particular alternately with the daytime running lights, the position light also in addition z. B. can be used for dipped beam.

Another advantage of the headlamp system according to the invention is that all light functions have the same light color, since only a single or a common light source is used for the different light functions.

The different embodiments of the headlamp system, which has a light source, a first device for a light function and a second device for a different light function, will now be described in more detail. The Fig. 1 to 4 show headlight systems 101, 201, 301, 401, which differ in the type of light extraction for a second light function and are otherwise similar with respect to the first light function. First, the similarities of the headlamp systems 101, 201, 301, 401 will be explained. Subsequently, the different embodiments are considered in order to explain their particularities with respect to the light extraction 118, 218, 318, 418, 119, 219, 319, 419, 220 for the second light function in more detail.

A light source 102, 202, 302, 402 emits light directly or by means of a main reflector 104, 204, 304, 404 in the light emission direction 103, 203, 303, 403 through an opening 109, 209, 309, 409 for a first light function in its surroundings , A second device may optically close the opening 109, 209, 309, 409 for the first light function. For example, the second device is a shutter 108, 208, 308, 408. The first light function is provided when the shutter 108, 208, 308, 408 does not optically close the opening for the first light function. However, the first light function can no longer be provided if the aperture 108, 208, 308, 408 optically closes the opening for the first light function. In all of the described embodiments, the apertures 108, 208, 308, 408 are respectively pivoted about the axes 110, 111, 210, 211, 310, 311, 410, 411 for opening and closing.

Furthermore, a first device is provided by means of which at least part of the light emitted by the light source 102, 202, 302, 402 can be deflected and coupled out to provide a second light function. However, according to the invention, the light emitted by the light source 102, 202, 302, 402 and incident on the second device 108, 208, 308, 408 can not be coupled out to provide the second light function. For example, the second device 108, 208, 308, 408 is designed so that the light incident on it is absorbed. Furthermore, the light incident on the second device 108, 208, 308, 408 could be reflected in a direction in which a coupling-out for the second light function is not possible.

In the following, various embodiments of the first device will be described:
  • The Fig. 1 shows a first embodiment of a headlamp system 101 with an unbranched light guide 112. The light guide 112 has an area for light coupling 105 through which light from the interior of the headlamp 121 can be coupled for a second light function. The light guide 112 is arranged in the interior 121 such that sufficient light for the second light function is coupled into the light guide 112, but the light guide does not influence the beam path for the first light function. The outcoupled light from the interior 121 is initially directed in the direction of the arrow 118 through the light guide and then provided as a second light function in the direction of the arrow 119. If the second light function is not continuously operated when the light source 102 is switched on, an aperture (not shown) may optionally be provided in front of the light output surface, which aperture can be opened and closed.

The Fig. 2 shows a second embodiment of a headlamp system 201 having two light guides 212, 216 arranged one behind the other. The light guide 212 has, like the light guide 112 of the first embodiment, an area for light coupling 205, through which light from the interior of the headlight 221 for the second light function can be coupled , This decoupled light from the interior of the headlight 221 is passed in the direction of arrow 218 through the light guide. The first optical fiber 212 is connected to the second optical fiber 216 through the optical fiber coupler 215. The light guide 216 itself consists of a plurality of optical fiber wires. These individual optical fiber cores can continue to run in different directions at the locations 217 shown and even branch off at the locations 217 shown. The light originally decoupled in the direction of the arrow 218 can thus coupled out at different locations to provide the second light function.

The Fig. 3 shows a third embodiment of a headlight system 301, wherein the light extraction for the second light function via reflectors 313, 314 takes place. The reflector 313 for the light extraction of the light emission of the light source 302 for the second light function is pivotable or displaceable, wherein in a first position of the light source 302 emitted light from the reflector 313 is reflected and the reflector 313 in a second position not in the beam path of the is located from the light source 302 emitted light. If the reflector 313 thus the in Fig. 3 shown first position, light is coupled out of the headlight interior 321 via the reflector surface 306 of the first reflector 313 and directed to the reflector surface 307 of a second reflector 314. From there, the light is reflected in the direction of the arrow 319 and can thus provide the second light function. If necessary, other reflectors, not shown, can be used.

The Fig. 4 shows a fourth embodiment of a headlight system 401, wherein the light extraction for the second light function via a further possible arrangement of the reflectors 413, 414 takes place. The description of Fig. 4 thus corresponds to that of Fig. 3 with the correspondingly changed reference numerals. The light emission reflector 413 of the light source 402 for the second light function is pivotable or displaceable, wherein light emitted by the light source 402 is reflected by the reflector 413 in a first position and the reflector 413 is not in the beam path of the second is located from the light source 402 emitted light. If the reflector 413 thus assumes the first position, light is coupled out of the headlight interior 421 via the reflector surface 406 of the first reflector 413 and directed to the reflector surface 407 of the second reflector 414. From there, the light is reflected in the direction of the arrow 419 and can provide the second light function. If necessary, other reflectors, not shown, can also be used in this embodiment.

In the figures, the panels 108, 208, 308, 408 are pivotally mounted about their respective pivot axes 110, 210, 310, 410, 111, 211, 311, 411 for opening and closing the opening. However, the bezels need not necessarily be rotatable or pivotable, but may be slidable to provide the same function.

In the Figures 3 and 4 the reflectors 313, 413 are rotatably shown for switching on and off. However, the reflectors 313, 413 need not necessarily be rotatable or pivotable, but may be slidable to provide the same function.

With the various exemplary embodiments of the headlight system 101, 201, 301, 401 described above, a dipped beam or high beam can be provided as the first light function. The second light function can, for. B. be a daytime running light or position light. The use of only one light source 102, 202, 302, 402 causes in operation that the first and the second light function always have the same light color.

It can be provided that the low beam and the daytime running lights can not be operated at the same time. The same can be provided for the combination of long-distance and daytime running lights, which is why only the combination of low beam and daytime running lights is explained in more detail here.

To switch the low beam on and off the daytime running light, the aperture 108, 208, 308, 408 is opened, so that light for the first light function, d. H. the low beam through which opening 109, 209, 309, 409 can pass. Furthermore, no light for the second light function, the daytime running light, is coupled out by the first device 112, 212, 313, 413. To turn off the low beam and turn on the daytime running light, the aperture 108, 208, 308, 408 is closed, so that no more light for the first light function, d. H. the low beam through which opening 109, 209, 309, 409 can pass. At the same time, however, light is coupled out by means of the first device 112, 212, 313, 413 for the second light function, the daytime running light.

For the low beam and the position light can be provided that they can be operated simultaneously. To simultaneously turn on the low beam and the position light, the aperture 108, 208, 308, 408 is opened. At the same time, the first device 112, 212, 313, 413 decouples light for the second light function, the position light.
