Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for automatically checking the visually perceived color impression of multicolor color images in a printed product which has writing in addition to the color images, and to an arrangement for carrying out the method.
  • the printing industry is making do today, for example, by printing on the right and left edge monochrome color marks with the roll printing.
  • These monochrome surfaces can be measured with classical colorimeters and photo spectrometers. This is usually done randomly and offline, based on manually extracted samples from the current print job.
  • EP 1 642 098 discloses for decorative printing, for example for floor laminates and patterned furniture fronts, that the visual color impression of a décor depends not only on a correspondence of the color statistics of the multicolored patterned decors, but also on slight changes of the image sharpness, which as such are not dependent on the eye be perceived in the human visual system to give the impression of a color shift.
  • EP 1 642 098 therefore proposes continuous measurement with color cameras of both the color statistics and the image sharpness of the decoration in the print and combines both measurements either separately or combined to give the printer a measure of the stability of the visual color impression of the printer (see also: Massen, R .: "100% automatic monitoring of the consistency of appearance of decor papers in the printing and in the impregnating line"), European Laminates Conference and Workshop.Prague, Czech Republic, 4 - 6 April 2006, organized by TCM, Austria, www.tcman.at).
