Definitions

  • the invention relates to a ball joint according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • a ball joint for a motor vehicle with a housing and a rotatably mounted in the housing and pivotally mounted ball pin and with a sealing bellows is known from DE 195 45 567 Al.
  • the bellows is sealingly applied to the housing according to the disclosure of this publication with a first sealing bellows edge on the ball stud and a second sealing bellows edge, wherein the total one-piece sealing bellows between his Dichtungsbalgr Sn has at least two sections of different geometry, of which a first section has a bulbous contour forms and a second portion has an extension along the outer surface and in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the housing.
  • the sealing bellows On the side of the sealing bellows located in the pivoting direction of the ball pin, the second section of the sealing bellows is lifted off the housing because of this second portion of a shear load is applied and the sealing bellows has elastic properties. On the opposite side of the second portion of the sealing bellows is subjected to a tensile stress. However, due to the voltage applied to the housing parts of this bellows, he is able to compensate for this tension. In the ball joint described in DE 195 45 567 A1, a grease for lubricating the inner joint components is provided. The sealing bellows serves as a lubricant reservoir.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a ball joint for a motor vehicle whose sealing bellows over a long life cycle reliably allows large angular deflections of the ball stud without being subject to increased wear.
  • Such equipped ball joint is able to implement large angular deflections of the ball pin relative to the housing, without causing damage to the bellows.
  • angular deflections of the ball pin relative to the housing of more than 50 ° could be achieved with continuous load of the ball joint, without damaging the sealing bellows occurred.
  • the alternating course direction may be a wave contour.
  • This wave contour can be formed both on the inner surface of the second portion of the sealing bellows and on the outer surface of the housing corresponding thereto.
  • a wave contour is therefore advantageous for the implementation of the inventive idea, because it allows a change of wave crests and troughs without sharp-edged Transitions lead to damage of the sealing bellows. Preference is given to a sinusoidal wave contour. However, this is not absolutely necessary for the implementation of the invention.
  • cam-like elevations can be distributed over the entire inner surface of the second portion of the sealing bellows or arranged in groups.
  • cam-like projections on the outer surface of the housing corresponding to the second section of the sealing bellows. Since the cost of manufacturing the cam-like elevations or a wave contour and the cost of producing a ball joint according to the invention is influenced by the production engineering effort, it can thus be decided whether the cam-like projections are provided on the inner surface of the second portion of the sealing bellows or on the outer surface of the housing.
  • a further variant of a ball joint according to the invention further consists in that the second portion of the sealing bellows has limn-shaped elevations at least in sections on its inner surface.
  • the arrangement may be as previously described in connection with the cam-like elevations, isolated or grouped together. Even a lime-shaped contact between the surfaces leads to the effect that the sealing bellows does not adhere to the housing surface.
  • sealing bellows for ball joints are usually equipped with a bulbous contour.
  • the second portion of the sealing bellows adjoins directly to the first portion of the sealing bellows. This avoids complex transitions between the sections of the sealing bellows.
  • the sealing bellows can be made very compact and according to the requirements placed on it. Thus, a material saving is also achieved and it can be reduced the cost of the ball joint in its manufacture.
  • the second portion of the sealing bellows extends in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the housing along a substantial part of the outer surface of the housing.
  • a concrete embodiment of this development of the invention is to be seen in that the second portion of the sealing bellows extends in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the housing viewed over at least 2/3 of the housing, along the outer surface of the housing.
  • Figure 1 a perspective view of a ball joint in one
  • Partial section and Figure 2 a fragmentary enlarged view of the second
  • the ball joint shown in FIG. 1 has a housing 1.
  • a ball stud 2 is rotatably and pivotally mounted.
  • a bearing shell 12 which receives with its inner circumferential surface, the ball joint of the ball stud 2 and is used with its outer circumferential surface directly into the housing 1 of the ball joint.
  • the ball joint further comprises a sealing bellows 3 which bears sealingly against a first sealing bellows edge 4 directly on the journal-shaped section of the ball stud 2. On this first one
  • the sealing bellows 3 a second sealing bellows edge 5, which is used to form a seal in a corresponding groove-shaped recess in the housing 1 and is fixed by a non-descript clamping ring on the housing 1.
  • the first sealing bellows edge 4 is also fixed by means of a clamping ring on the ball stud 2.
  • the sealing bellows 3, which is made in one piece as a whole, has two sections 6 and 7 deviating from each other in their geometry. In the lower, the pin-shaped part of the ball pin 2 associated region of the sealing bellows 3 has the first portion 6, which in the present case has a bulbous contour.
  • the first portion 6 of the sealing bellows 3 merges into a second portion 7, which extends along the outer surface of the housing 1 adjacent. From the illustration in Figure 1 is further seen that the axial extent of the second portion 7 of the sealing bellows 3 takes place over a substantial part of the housing 1. As far as axial extent is mentioned here, the direction of the components in the direction of the longitudinal axis 9 of the housing 1 is always meant.
  • This longitudinal axis 9 coincides in the illustration in Figure 1 with the longitudinal center axis of the undeflected ball pin 2. In the transition region between the pin-shaped portion and the ball joint of the ball stud 2 this has a ball neck neck 13, which in cross-section slightly opposite to is reduced peg-shaped portion of the ball stud 2 and here has a slightly conical shape.
  • FIG. 1 This detailed representation shows a section of the area of the second section 7 of the sealing bellows 3 in the transition from the first section 6 of the sealing bellows 3.
  • the sealing bellows 3 in this case has an inner surface 10 which is provided with a plurality of cam-like elevations 11. These cam-like projections 11 contact directly with their highest elevation, the outer surface 8 of the housing 1. By this contact pair, the cam-like elevations 11 each have a point contact with the outer surface 8 of the housing 1, so that only a very small surface is in direct contact.
