Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for operating a navigation system according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Known navigation systems are equipped with speech recognition software to allow the user to make certain inputs, in particular the input of addresses, in an acoustic manner.
  • the address is no longer at a
  • acoustic inputs can then be analyzed and assigned to a geographical location stored in a database, which is defined by an address with the corresponding address components. This geographical location is then selected from the database and used for further processing, for example for route planning.
  • a special problem with acoustic address input is the entry of house numbers.
  • the house number spoken by the user is identified by the speech recognition analysis and the house number recognized thereby is compared with the house numbers which in the database correspond to those in the speech recognition module recognized street names are stored.
  • the problem of the known navigation systems is that the house number recognized by the speech recognition is only accepted if a corresponding house number to the corresponding street in the address database is also stored. If, on the other hand, a corresponding house number can not be matched with the house number identified by the speech recognition in the address database, an error message is output and / or the complete address entered is not accepted. Subsequently, the user is then forced to enter additional inputs into the navigation system in order to be able to start subsequent processing steps, for example route planning.
  • the method according to the invention is based on the basic idea that, if there is no match between the house number recognized in the speech recognition module and the house name stored in the address database for the street name recognized by the speech recognition module. Numbers are no longer generated automatically an error message, but instead automatically generated by the navigation system, a replacement house number and forwarded for further processing. As a result, it can thus be achieved that, despite the lack of correspondence between the acoustically entered house number recognized by speech recognition and the house numbers stored in the database, the subsequent further processing, for example the beginning of a route planning, is no longer held up. Due to the automatic generation of the replacement house number, it is rather possible to carry out the subsequent processing steps for further processing of the acoustically entered address without additional user input.
  • the replacement house number there are various strategies. In order to allow the best possible approximation of the automatically generated replacement house number to the user inputs of the user, it is particularly advantageous if the house number recognized in the speech recognition module is evaluated and taken into account in the automatic generation of the substitute house number. This ensures that the replacement house number is not arbitrarily selected, but is closely related to the user's acoustic information.
  • the house number stored in the database is selected which has the smallest difference to the house number recognized in the speech recognition module. This ensures that the replacement house number is in relative proximity to the acoustically entered house number.
  • the building on the left or right side of a road In many countries, it is common for the building on the left or right side of a road to be the house numbers are provided. In order to enable a number to be selected on the same street side as the acoustically entered house number when generating the substitute house number, it is particularly advantageous if the substitute house number in accordance with the acoustically entered house number in each case either as an even number resp is selected as an odd number. Even if there is a gap between the replacement house number and the acoustically entered house number, this ensures that the user is guided to the right side of the road during route guidance.
  • This replacement house number may preferably lie in the middle of the street assigned to the street name, so that as a result the average distance between the building of the substitute house number and the building of the acoustically entered house number is minimized.
  • Figure 1 is a diagrammatic city map with complete house number coding in top view.
  • FIG. 2 shows the city map according to FIG. 1 with partial house number coding in a view from above;
  • Fig. 3 shows the city map of FIG. 1 without house number coding in top view.
  • Fig. 2 illustrates the city map of Fig. 1, in which case the house numbers are only incompletely stored in the address database, for example because the house numbers are only incompletely recorded, in other words, that in the address database to the map of FIG. 2 for the "main street" only the house numbers 7 to 22 are stored.
  • the odd number is selected as the house number having the smallest difference to the acoustically entered house number, in the specific example this means that the house number 7 than This replacement house number would then be passed on for further processing, for example for route planning, and the user would be navigated to position 02.
  • FIG. 3 shows the city map according to FIG. 1 with complete absence of a house number coding in the address database. If the user also acoustically indicates house number 5 as the searched location in the "main street", the navigation system generates a replacement house number in the middle of the "main street” due to the missing house number coding for the "main street” the user would then be guided to position 03.
