Abstract
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur heterogen katalysierten partiellen Veresterung von (Meth)Acrylsäure mit oxyalkylierten Polyolen, wobei die oxyalkylierten Polyole mindestens 3 freie Hydroxygruppen aufweisen, und wobei der Katalysator ausgewählt ist aus der Gruppe umfassend saure Ionenaustauscherharze und/oder saure Zeolithe. Die Erfindung betrifft weiterhin (Meth)Acrylsäureester und Urethanacrylate, erhalten durch ein Verfahren gemäß der vorliegenden Erfindung sowie deren Verwendung als strahlenhärtbare Verbindungen.
Description
Verfahren zur heterogen katalysierten Veresterung von (Meth)Acrylsäure mit oxyalkylierten Polyolen
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur heterogen katalysierten Veresterung von (Meth)Acrylsäure mit oxyalkylierten Polyolen, wobei die oxyalkylierten Polyole mindestens 3 freie Hydroxygruppen aufweisen. Sie betrifft weiterhin (Meth)Acrylsäureester, erhalten durch ein Verfahren nach der vorliegenden Erfindung sowie die Verwendung von (Meth)Acrylsäureestern nach der vorliegenden Erfindung als strahlenhärtbare Verbindungen.
Strahlungshärtende Beschichtungsmittel auf der Basis von Reaktionsprodukten von hydroxy- funktionellen Estern der (Meth)Acrylsäure und Isocyanaten werden als Urethanacrylate bezeichnet. Von besonderem Interesse für die Anwendung als Beschichtungsmittel sind Ester der (Meth)Acrylsäure mit oxyalkylierten Polyolen.
Die Synthese hydroxyfunktioneller Partialester der (Meth)Acrylsäure ausgehend von einer Mischung verschieden oxalkylierter Polyole wird beispielsweise in EP 0 900 778 Al beschrieben. Diese Schrift betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Estern aus ein- oder mehrwertigen Alkoholen beziehungsweise Estervorstufen mit mindestens zwei Hydroxylgruppen pro Molekül, hergestellt aus mehrwertigen Alkoholen und ein- oder zweiwertigen, gesättigten oder aromatisch unge- sättigten Carbonsäuren und ethylenisch ungesättigten Carbonsäuren wie (Meth)Acrylsäure durch säurekatalysierte Azeotropveresterung, wobei die Katalysatorsäure sowie während der Veresterung nicht umgesetzte Carbonsäuren durch anschließende Reaktion mit ethylenisch ungesättigten Mo- noepoxiden umgesetzt werden. Als saure Veresterungskatalysatoren werden anorganische oder organische Säuren eingesetzt. Beispiele hierfür sind Schwefelsäure, Phosphorsäure, Pyrophosphor- säure, p-Toluolsulfonsäure, Styroldivinylbenzolsulfonsäure, Chlorsulfonsäure und Chlorameisensäure.
Die Verwendung eines Säurekatalysators in homogener Phase bringt allerdings Nachteile mit sich. So muss der Katalysator nach der Reaktion abgetrennt werden, da ansonsten das Endprodukt ver- unreinigt würde. Problematisch ist insbesondere die Reaktion der verbliebenen Säure mit Isocyanaten in der Synthese der Urethanacrylate. Die überschüssige Säure kann beispielsweise durch Auswaschen mit Wasser, durch Umsetzung mit Epoxiden oder durch Umsetzung mit Carbodiimiden abgetrennt werden. All diesen Verfahren ist aber gemein, dass sie einen zusätzlichen Verfahrensschritt erfordern.
Die Verwendung eines heterogenen Katalysators wird in DE 103 17 435 Al beschrieben. Diese Schrift betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von (Meth)Acrylsäureestern durch heterogen kataly-
sierte Umsetzung von (Meth)Acrylsäure mit mindestens einem Alkohol in einem Reaktor, in dem der Wassergehalt im Sumpf der Azeotropkolonne weniger als 0,15 Gew.-ppm beträgt und/oder der Gehalt an (Meth)Acrylsäure im Sumpf der Azeotropkolonne nicht mehr als 60 Gew.-% beträgt und/oder der heterogene Katalysator vor der Reaktion mit einer stabilisatorhaltigen Alkohollösung beaufschlagt wird. Als heterogene Katalysatoren kommen alle stark sauren Ionenaustauscherharze sowie alle sauren Zeolithe in Betracht. Bevorzugte Ionenaustauscherharze sind Styrol- Divinylbenzol-Polymerharze mit Sulfonsäuregruppen. Bevorzugte saure Zeolithe sind solche, die ein kristallines Metallsilikat in protonierter Form, beispielsweise Al, B, Fe, Ga-Silikat in der H- Form, aufweisen. Als Alkohol kann gemäß dieser Schrift prinzipiell jeder 1 bis 12 C-Atome ent- haltende Alkohol eingesetzt werden.
Die hierdurch erhaltenen (Meth)Acrylsäureester können destillativ gereinigt werden. In der Regel bilden sie mit dem durch die Veresterung anfallenden Reaktionswasser Minimumazeotrope und können als Kopfprodukte abgetrennt werden. Es wird nicht gelehrt, wie sich (Meth)Acrylsäureester mit höherem Molekülgewicht, die nicht mehr abdestilliert werden können, mittels heterogener Katalyse erhalten werden können. Von Interesse sind aber Ester der (Meth)Acrylsäure mit oxyalkylierten Polyolen, welche als wertvolle Zwischenstufen bei der Synthese der entsprechenden Urethanacrylate dienen können. Insbesondere von Interesse sind solche Ester mit oxyalkylierten Polyolen, welche mindestens 3 freie Hydroxygruppen aufweisen und wo- bei nach der Veresterungsreaktion im Mittel eine Hydroxygruppe noch frei vorliegt. Solch eine gezielte heterogen katalysierte partielle Veresterung gelang bisher noch nicht zufriedenstellend. Dieses ist auch vor dem Hintergrund zu sehen, dass oxyalkylierte Polyole aufgrund ihrer Polarität und ihrer Fähigkeit zu koordinativen Bindungen nicht zur Umsetzung durch jeden Katalysator geeignet sind.
Die vorliegende Erfindung hat sich demzufolge die Aufgabe gestellt, ein Verfahren bereitzustellen zur heterogen katalysierten partiellen Veresterung von (Meth)Acrylsäure mit oxyalkylierten Polyolen, welche mindestens 3 freien Hydroxygruppen aufweisen, wobei im Reaktionsprodukt keine zu entfernenden Säurespuren enthalten sind und wobei das Reaktionsprodukt daher direkt einer U- rethanisierung einer verbleibenden freien Hydroxygruppe unterzogen werden kann.
Erfindungsgemäß wird die Aufgabe gelöst durch ein Verfahren zur heterogen katalysierten partiellen Veresterung von (Meth)Acrylsäure mit oxyalkylierten Polyolen, wobei die oxyalkylierten Polyole mindestens 3 freie Hydroxygruppen aufweisen und wobei der Katalysator ausgewählt ist aus der Gruppe umfassend saure Ionenaustauscherharze und/oder saure Zeolithe.
Oxyalkylierte Polyole im Sinne der vorliegenden Erfindung können als Basis drei- oder höherwer- tigen Alkohole aufweisen. Vorzugsweise werden als Basis Glycerin, Trimethylolpropan (TMP), Pentaerythrit, Ditrimethylolpropan, Dipentaerythrit und/oder Sorbit verwendet. Die Oxyalkylie- rung kann nach bekannten Methoden der Synthese von Polyethern ablaufen. Hierbei sind als Mo- nomere Ethylenoxid, Propylenoxid und/oder Tetrahydrofuran bevorzugt, wobei auch verschiedene Monomere nacheinander zum Einsatz kommen können, um Blöcke zu erzeugen.
Die mindestens 3 freien Hydroxygruppen der oxyalkylierten Polyole sind als pro Molekül angegeben zu verstehen. Sie können endständig an der Polyetherkette sitzen oder aber auch eine Ver- zweigung darstellen. Es können beispielsweise 3, 4, 5 oder 6 freie Hydroxygruppen pro Molekül vorliegen. Die oxyalkylierten Polyole können auch als Gemisch verschiedener Verbindungen vorliegen. Dann bedeutet die Angabe, dass mindestens 3 freie Hydroxygruppen vorhanden sind, einen statistischen Mittelwert.
In einer partiellen Veresterung werden nicht alle freien Hydroxygruppen verestert. So können durchschnittlich > 0,2 bis < 2, vorzugsweise > 0,5 bis < 1,5 und besonders bevorzugt > 0,8 bis
< 1 ,2 freie Hydroxygruppen im Ester verbleiben.
Der erfindungsgemäße Katalysator ist ausgewählt aus der Gruppe umfassend saure Ionenaustau- scherharze und/oder saure Zeolithe. Somit handelt es sich um einen heterogenen Katalysator.
Geeignete Ionenaustauscherharze werden aus einer polymerisierbaren Vinylkomponente und einem Vernetzer hergestellt. Als Vinylkomponente können Styrol, α-Methylstyrol, Vinyltoluol, E- thylvinylbenzol oder ähnliche Verbindungen eingesetzt werden. Vernetzter besitzen mindestens zwei polymeriserbare Gruppen und können beispielsweise aus der Gruppe umfassend Divinylben- zol, Divinyltoluol, Trivinylbenzol, Divinylchlorobenzol, Divinylxylol und/oder Divinylnaphthalin ausgewählt werden. Bevorzugt werden Ionenaustauscherharze aus Styrol und Divinylbenzol hergestellt, wobei der Anteil des Vernetzers > 0,1 Gew.-% bis < 20 Gew.-% bezogen auf der Gesamt- monomermischung und bevorzugt > 1 bis ≤ 10 Gew.-% betragen kann. Die Polymerharze enthalten Sulfonsäure- und/oder Carboxylgruppen, wobei Sulfonsäuregruppen besonders geeignet sind. Die Konzentration an Sulfonsäuregruppen kann > 0,1 mol/1 bis < 3 mol/1 und bevorzugt > 0,2 mol/1 bis
< 2 mol/1 Harz betragen. Die Teilchengröße der sauren Ionentauscher kann > 100 um bis < 5000 μm und bevorzugt > 200 μm bis < 2500 μm betragen.
Geeignete saure Zeolithe sind kristalline Metallsilikate, die vorzugsweise in protonierter Form vorliegen. Das im allgemeinen dreiwertige Metall aus dem Metallsilikalit kann, ohne darauf be-
schränkt zu sein, aus der Gruppe Al, B, Fe, Ga ausgewählt werden. Metallsilikate können jedoch auch zwei oder mehrere dieser Metalle aufweisen. Typischerweise können Y-, beta-, ZSM-5 und/oder Mordenit-Zeolithe eingesetzt werden, wobei diese vorzugsweise in der H-Form vorliegen.
Der Katalysator kann in dem Reaktionsgemisch frei oder immobilisiert vorliegen oder in zusätzlichen externen Apparaten wie Destillationskolonnen oder Festbettreaktoren immobilisiert sein.
Mittels des erfindungsgemäß ausgewählten Katalysators wird es möglich, die gewünschte partielle Veresterung der oxyalkylierten Polyole durchzuführen und die gewünschten Edukte für eine nachfolgende Urethanisierung zu erhalten, ohne dass störende Reste eines homogenen Säurekatalysators zugegen sind. Es wird folglich ein Aufreinigungsschritt eingespart.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren kann als kontinuierliches Verfahren oder als diskontinuierliches Verfahren ausgestaltet sein.
Es ist günstig, während der Durchführung des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens ein sauerstoffhaltiges Gas, vorzugsweise Luft oder Mischungen aus Sauerstoff und inerten Gasen in das lösungsmit- telhaltige Reaktionsgemisch einzubringen. Durch die Zugabe von Sauerstoff wird im Reaktions- gemisch enthaltener Inhibitor, der die Polymerisation der (Meth)Acrylsäure und/oder ihrer Ester unterbinden soll, aktiviert.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren wird in einem Lösungsmittel durchgeführt, das mit Wasser nicht mischbar ist und mit Wasser im Sinne einer Wasserdampfdestillation destillierbar ist. Dieses Lö- sungsmittel wird auch Schleppmittel genannt. Mit Wasser kann es azeotrope Gemische bilden. Hierfür kommen Kohlenwasserstoffe sowie deren Halogen- oder Nitrosubstitutionsprodukte in Betracht sowie weitere Lösungsmittel die weder mit den Reaktionspartnern reagieren noch sich unter dem Einfluss der sauren Katalysatoren verändern.
In vorteilhafter Weise werden unsubstituierte Kohlenwasserstoffe eingesetzt. Beispielhaft seien genannt: aliphatische Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Hexan, Heptan, Oktan, Isooktan, Benzinfraktionen verschiedener Siedebereiche, cycloaliphatische Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Cyclopentan, Cyclohexan und/oder Methylcyclohexan oder aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Benzol, Toluol und/oder die isomeren Xylole. In bevorzugter Weise werden solche Lösungsmittel eingesetzt, die im Be- reich von > 70 0C bis < 120 0C sieden. Insbesondere seien hier Isooktan, Cyclohexan, Toluol oder Benzinfraktionen im Siedebereich von > 70 0C bis < 120 0C genannt. Das mit Wasser nicht misch-
bare Lösemittel kann auch ein Gemisch der oben genannten Stoffe sein. Es wird eine Menge von > 5 Gew.-% bis < 100 Gew.-%, bevorzugt > 10 Gew.-% bis < 80 Gew.-%, besonders bevorzugt > 20 Gew.-% bis < 60 Gew.-%, bezogen auf das Gewicht der zu veresternden Reaktionskomponenten eingesetzt.
Zur Stabilisierung der (Meth)Acrylsäure und ihrer Ester vor ungewollter Polymerisation ist es günstig, das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren in Gegenwart eines oder mehrerer Polymerisationsinhibitoren durchzuführen. Der Inhibitor, auch als Stabilisator bezeichnet, kann in einer Menge von > 0,01 Gew.-% bis < 5 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise von > 0,05 Gew.-% bis < 2 Gew.-%, mehr bevorzugt von > 0,1 Gew.-% bis < 1 ,5 Gew.-%, bezogen auf das zu verestemde Gemisch aus (Meth)Acrylsäure und Polyol, zugesetzt werden.
Geeignete Stabilisatoren können ausgewählt sein aus der Gruppe umfassend Natriumdithionit, Natriumhydrogensulfϊd, Schwefel, Hydrazin, Phenylhydrazin, Hydrazobenzol, N-Phenyl-α- Naphthylamin, N-Phenyl-Ethanolamin, Dinitrobenzol, Picrinsäure, p-Nitrosodimethylanilin, Diphenylnitrosamin, Phenole, p-tert.-Butylbrenzcatechin, 2,5-Di-tert.-amylhydrochinon, p-Alkoxy- phenole, 4-Methoxyphenol, Di-tert.-butylhydrochinon, Tetramethylthiuramdisulfid, 2-Mercapto- benzthiazol, Phenothiazin, Hydrochinonmonomethylether und/oder Dimethyldithiocarbaminsäure- Natriumsalz.
In einer vorteilhaften Ausführungsform der vorliegenden Erfindung weisen die oxyalkylierten Polyole einen Oxyalkylierungsgrad von > 1 bis < 30, vorzugsweise von > 3 bis < 25 auf. Als Oxy- alkylierungsgrad wird die Stoffmenge Oxyalkylierungs-Monomer bezogen auf die Stoffmenge Alkohol bezeichnet. Beispielsweise entsprächen 7 Mol Ethylenoxid pro Mol Trimethylolpropan einem Oxyalkylierungsgrad von 7. Solche oxyalkylierten Polyole können ein Molekulargewicht von beispielsweise > 600 g/mol bis < 5000 g/mol aufweisen. Sie haben die Eigenschaft, dass ihre partiellen oder vollständigen Ester der (Meth)Acrylsäure nicht mehr unter den üblichen Verfahrensbedingungen destillieren lassen. Daher sind sie besonders für den Einsatz im erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren geeignet.
In einer weiteren vorteilhaften Ausführungsform der vorliegenden Erfindung umfasst der Katalysator weiterhin einen Stabilisator, welcher die Polymerisation von (Meth)Acrylsäure zumindest zu verlangsamen vermag. Weiterhin ist die Konzentration des Stabilisators auf und/oder in dem Katalysator höher als die Konzentration des Stabilisators in der Reaktionslösung. Hierdurch kann ver- hindert werden, dass die (Meth)Acrylsäure auf dem Katalysator polymerisiert und ihn somit inaktiviert. Beispielsweise kann vor dem ersten Inkontaktbringen des Katalysators mit den übrigen
Reaktanden eine Lösung des Stabilisators in dem eingesetzten oxyalkylierten Polyol über den Katalysator gefahren werden, bis der Katalysator mit dem Stabilisator gesättigt ist. Geeignete Stabilisatoren wurden bereits vorstehend erwähnt.
Die Konzentration des Stabilisators in dem oxyalkylierten Polyol kann während der Beaufschlagung in einem Bereich von > 0,01 Gew.-% bis < 5 Gew.-% liegen, vorzugsweise von > 0,05 Gew.- % bis < 2 Gew.-%, mehr bevorzugt von > 1 Gew.-% bis < 1 ,5 Gew.-%.
In einer weiteren vorteilhaften Ausführungsform der vorliegenden Erfindung sind die Reaktions- bedingungen ausgewählt aus der Gruppe umfassend: der Druck beträgt > 0,5 bar bis < 5 bar, vorzugsweise > 0,9 bar bis < 2 bar; die Temperatur beträgt > 50 0C bis < 150 0C, vorzugsweise > 80 0C bis < 120 0C; und/oder das molare Verhältnis von (Meth)Acrylsäure zu OH-Gruppen beträgt > 1 :3 bis < 3:3, vorzugsweise > 1 ,5:3 bis < 2,5:3
In einer weiteren vorteilhaften Ausführungsform der vorliegenden Erfindung wird der Katalysator in einer Destillationskolonne immobilisiert. Die Immobilisierung in der Destillationskolonne kann unter anderem mittels reaktiver Packungen, Füllkörpern oder Destillationsböden mit speziellen Vorrichtungen durchgeführt werden. Beispiele für reaktive Packungen, Füllkörper oder Kolonnen- böden finden sich in Ulimann, Encyclopedia of industrial chemistry, Seventh Release, 2007. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird am oberen Ende der Destillationskolonne aufgegeben. Die Menge des pro Stunde aufgegebenen Gemisches kann in der Größenordnung vom > 0,1 -fachen bis < 50-fachen, vorzugsweise vom > 0,5-fachen bis < 20-fachen, noch mehr bevorzugt vom > 1 -fachen bis <10- fachen Volumen des Reaktorinhalts liegen. Der Vorteil dieser Vorgehensweise, die auch reaktive Destillation genannt wird, liegt in einer Vereinfachung des Anlagenaufbaus.
In einer weiteren vorteilhaften Ausführungsform der vorliegenden Erfindung wird der Katalysator im Reaktionsmedium suspendiert. Vorteilhaft hieran ist insbesondere die gute Verteilung des Katalysators im Reaktionsraum.
In einer weiteren vorteilhaften Ausführungsform der vorliegenden Erfindung wird der Katalysator im Reaktionsmedium immobilisiert. Der Katalysator kann beispielsweise in aus Drahtgewebe hergestellten Taschen untergebracht sein. Diese Taschen können dann auf dem Rührer, auf den Strömungsbrechern und/oder als separate Einbauten im Reaktor angebracht werden. Vorteilhaft ist hieran insbesondere, dass der Katalysator leicht entnommen werden kann, um ausgetauscht oder regeneriert zu werden. Die Regenerierung erfolgt bei den Ionenaustauscherharzen durch Eluierung
mit einer starken Säure wie zum Beispiel Schwefelsäure, Salzsäure und/oder Salpetersäure. Bevorzugt wird Schwefelsäure eingesetzt, wobei sowohl konzentrierte als auch verdünnte Säure eingesetzt werden kann. Zeolithe dagegen werden durch Kalzinierung in einer sauerstoffhaltigen Atmosphäre bei Temperaturen von > 300 0C, bevorzugt von > 400 0C bis < 500 0C regeneriert.
In einer weiteren vorteilhaften Ausführungsform der vorliegenden Erfindung erfolgt nach der Veresterung die Umsetzung des erhaltenen (Meth)Acrylsäureesters mit einem Isocyanat, vorzugsweise mit Isophorondiisocyanat, 1 ,6-Hexamethylendiisocyanat (HDI), Diphenylmethan-4,4'- diisocyanat (MDI), 2,4-Toluylendiisocyanat (TDI) und/oder 2,6-Toluylendiisocyanat (TDI). Somit erfolgt die Synthese der kommerziell gewünschten Urethanacrylate. Hier zeigt sich der Vorteil des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens, wodurch nach der leicht zu bewerkstelligenden Abtrennung des heterogenen Katalysators keine zu entfernenden Säurespuren mit den Isocyanaten störende Nebenreaktionen eingehen.
Ein weiterer Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung sind (Meth)Acrylsäureester, erhalten durch ein Verfahren gemäß der vorliegenden Erfindung. Demzufolge betrifft die vorliegende Erfindung auch Urethanacrylate, die durch ein Verfahren gemäß der vorliegenden Erfindung erhalten werden.
Ein weiterer Gegenstand betrifft die Verwendung von (Meth)Acrylsäureestern gemäß der vorlie- genden Erfindung als strahlenhärtbare Verbindungen, vorzugsweise als Bindemittel zur Beschich- tung von Flächen und/oder Gegenständen. Demzufolge betrifft die vorliegende Erfindung auch die Verwendung Urethanacrylaten gemäß der vorliegenden Erfindung als strahlenhärtbare Verbindungen, vorzugsweise als Bindemittel zur Beschichtung von Flächen und/oder Gegenständen. Strahlenhärtbar bezieht sich in diesem Zusammenhang unter anderem auf die Härtung durch Wärme, sichtbares Licht, UV-Strahlen und Elektronenstrahlen.
Die vorliegende Erfindung wird im Folgenden anhand der Figuren 1 bis 3 weiter erläutert.

FIG. 1 zeigt ein erfindungsgemäßes Verfahren, wobei der heterogene Katalysator in einer Destilla- tionskolonne immobilisiert wird. Der Reaktor (14) weist Vorrichtungen zum Heizen und zum Rühren auf. In folgender Reihenfolge werden die Edukte in den Reaktor (14) zudosiert: oxyalkylierte Polyole (1), Polymerisationsinhibitor (4), Schleppmittel (3) und (Meth)Acrylsäure (2). Weiterhin wird sauerstoffhaltiges Gas (5) durch den Reaktor (14) geleitet. Die Immobilisierung des heterogenen Katalysators erfolgt in einer Bodenkolonne beziehungsweise in einer Kolonne mit geordneter oder ungeordneter Packung. Der heterogene Katalysator kann vor oder unmittelbar nach der Erst- befüllung zusätzlich mit Polymerisationsinhibitor in Kontakt gebracht werden. Nach der Zudosie- rung wird das im Reaktor (14) vorliegende Gemisch gerührt und am oberen Ende der in diesem Falle auch den Katalysator umfassenden Destillationskolonne (17) aufgegeben. Dieses wird durch Stoffstrom (22) dargestellt. Die Menge des pro Stunde aufgegebenen Gemisch kann dabei dem > 0,1 -fachen bis < 50-fachen, vorzugsweise dem > 0,5-fachen bis < 20-fachen, noch mehr bevorzugt dem > 1 -fachen bis <10-fachen Volumen des Reaktorinhalts entsprechen. Strom (21) ist die ablau-
fende Reaktionsmischung. Da der Katalysator bereits immobilisiert ist, bedarf es keiner zusätzlichen Einrichtungen zur Abtrennung.
Anschließend erfolgt die Erhitzung auf Siedetemperatur. Das bei der Reaktion entstehende Was- ser wird zu einem Grossteil bereits durch das im Reaktor (14) verdampfte Schleppmittel (3) aus der flüssigen, reaktiven Phase abgetrennt. Durch die gleichzeitige Reaktion und Wasserabtrennung ist der Umsatz in der Reaktionszone der Destillationskolonne (17) hoch. Das bei der Reaktion entstehende Wasser verlässt zusammen mit dem Schleppmittel (3) als Dampfgemisch (20) den Kopf der Destillationskolonne (17). In einem Kondensator (15) werden die flüssigen Bestandteile aus- kondensiert. Verbleibende gasförmige Bestandteile (8) verlassen den Kondensator (15). Das Destillat (9) wird einer flüssig/flüssig-Trennung (16) unterworfen. Hierbei trennt sich das Reaktionswasser (10) vom Schleppmittel. Das Schleppmittel kann entweder aus dem Verfahren entnommen werden (13) oder in weitgehend wasserfreier Form zurück in den Reaktor (14) geleitet werden (1 1).
Nach beendeter Reaktion wird das Schleppmittel destillativ vom Produkt (12) abgetrennt. Das abgetrennte Schleppmittel wird kondensiert und einem geeigneten Sammelbehälter zugeführt. Zu Entfernung des im Hold-up der Destillationskolonne enthaltenen Produkts wird diese unter Rücklauf betrieben. Hierzu wird ein Teil des kondensierten Schleppmittels am Kopf der Kolonne auf- gegeben.
FIG. 2 zeigt ein erfindungsgemäßes Verfahren, wobei der heterogene Katalysator im Reaktor suspendiert wird. Der Reaktor (14) weist Vorrichtungen zum Heizen und zum Rühren auf. Weiterhin umfasst der Reaktor in Suspension den heterogenen Katalysator. Die Reihenfolge der Zudosie- rung der Edukte (1 , 4, 3, 2) entspricht dem Schema aus Fig. 1. Weiterhin wird sauerstoffhaltiges Gas (5) durch den Reaktor (14) geleitet. Der heterogene Katalysator kann vor der Erstbefüllung mit Polymerisationsinhibitor besättigt werden. Die Zudosierung des heterogenen Katalysators erfolgt auf die dem Fachmann bekannte Weise, beispielsweise mittels Zellradschleuse, Dosierschnecke oder manuell.
Nach der Zudosierung wird das im Reaktor (14) vorliegende Gemisch gerührt und auf Siedtemperatur erhitzt, wobei die Reaktion in Gang gesetzt wird. Das bei der Reaktion entstehende Wasser wird durch Verdampfen eines Schleppmittels (3) wie bereits in Fig. 1 beschrieben aus dem Reaktor (14) abgetrennt. Das Schleppmittel kann entweder aus dem Verfahren entnommen werden (13) oder in weitgehend wasserfreier Form zurück in den Reaktor (14) geleitet werden (1 1). Nach beendeter Reaktion wird das Schleppmittel destillativ vom Produkt abgetrennt. Das abgetrennte
Schleppmittel wird kondensiert und einem geeigneten Sammelbehälter zugeführt (13). Die Abtrennung des Produktes (12) vom heterogenen Katalysator erfolgt mechanisch durch eine Filtereinrichtung (19) beispielsweise mittels Filtration oder Dekantieren. Es ist möglich, dass sich eine Wäsche oder Regeneration des abgetrennten Katalysators daran anschliesst.
FIG. 3 zeigt ein erfindungsgemäßes Verfahren, wobei der heterogene Katalysator im Reaktor immobilisiert wird. Der Reaktor (14) weist Vorrichtungen zum Heizen und zum Rühren auf. Weiterhin umfasst der Reaktor in Suspension den heterogenen Katalysator. Die Reihenfolge der Zudo- sierung der Edukte (1, 4, 3, 2) entspricht dem Schema aus Fig. 1. Weiterhin wird sauerstoffhaltiges Gas (5) durch den Reaktor (14) geleitet. Der heterogene Katalysator kann vor der Erstbefüllung mit Polymerisationsinhibitor in Kontakt gebracht werden. Die Immobilisierung des heterogenen Katalysators (18) erfolgt in Behältnissen im Reaktor. Geeignete Behältnisse sind beispielsweise aus Drahtgewebe hergestellte Katalysatortaschen. Diese können auf dem Rührer und/oder den Strömungsbrechern und/oder als separate Einbauten im Reaktor montiert werden.
Das bei der Reaktion entstehende Wasser wird durch Verdampfen eines Schleppmittels (3) wie bereits in Fig. 1 beschrieben aus dem Reaktor (14) abgetrennt. Das Schleppmittel kann entweder aus dem Verfahren entnommen werden (13) oder in weitgehend wasserfreier Form zurück in den Reaktor (14) geleitet werden (11). Nach beendeter Reaktion wird das Schleppmittel destillativ vom Produkt abgetrennt. Das abgetrennte Schleppmittel wird kondensiert und einem geeigneten Sammelbehälter zugeführt (13). Das Produkt (12) wird dem Reaktor (14) direkt entnommen.
Die vorliegende Erfindung wird weiterhin anhand der nachfolgenden Ausführungsbeispiele erläutert. Die angegebenen Stoffparameter wurden anhand der folgenden Messvorschriften bestimmt:
Die Säurezahl wird in mg KOH/g Probe angegeben. Ehre Bestimmung erfolgt durch Titration mit 0,1 mol/1 NaOH-Lösung gegen Bromthymolblau (ethanolische Lösung), Farbumschlag von gelb über grün nach blau, auf Grundlage der Norm DIN 3682.
Die Hydroxyzahl wird in mg KOH/g Probe angegeben. Ihre Bestimmung erfolgt durch Titration mit 0,1 mol/1 methanolische KOH-Lösung nach kalter Acetylierung mit Essigsäureanhydrid unter Katalyse von Dimethylaminopyridin auf Grundlage der Norm DIN 53240.
Die Bestimmung des NCO-Gehalts in % wurde auf Grundlage der Norm DIN EN ISO 1 1909 durch Rücktitration mit 0,1 mol/1 Salzsäure nach Reaktion mit Butylamin vorgenommen.
Die Viskositätsmessungen wurden bei 23°C mit einem Platte-Platte Rotationsviskosimeter, Roto- Visko 1 der Firma Haake, DE nach der Norm ISO/DIS 3219: 1990 durchgeführt.
Beispiel 1: Heterogener Katalysator in reaktiver Packung
In einen temperierbaren Glasbehälter mit 10 Litern Volumen mit Rührer, Gaseinleitung und Thermostat wurden unter Durchleiten von Luft (1 ,0-faches Apparatevolumen pro Stunde) und Überlei- ten von Stickstoff (2,0-faches Apparatevolumen pro Stunde) 3975 g eines im Mittel 12-fach etho- xylierten, Trimethylolpropan-gestarteten Polyethers (Hydroxylzahl 255; Dynamische Viskosität 265 mPa«s bei 23 0C), 892,5 g Acrylsäure, 14,8 g 4-Methoxyphenol, 1 g 2,5-Di- tert.butylhydrochinon und 2557 g Isooktan eingewogen. Die Reaktionsmischung wurde gerührt und mit einer Umpumpmenge von 8 kg/h zum Kopf einer Destillationskolonne gepumpt. Diese hatte einen Durchmesser von 70 mm und war im oberen Segment mit 2 m reaktiver Packung vom Typ Katapak-SPl 1 (Hersteller: Sulzer Chemtech Ltd) und im unteren Segment mit 2 m strukturierter Packung vom Typ Rombopak 6M (Hersteller: Kühni AG) befüllt. Die Katalysatortaschen der reaktiven Packung wurden jeweils mit 73g Katalysator Dowex 50Wx4 20-50, einem sauren Ionenaustauscherharz, befüllt. Durch Aufheizung auf Siedetemperatur unter Normaldruckbedingungen (94 0C - 108 0C) wurde die Reaktion gestartet. Durch Verdampfung von Isooktan (2500 g/h) wurde das in der reaktiven Packung gebildete Wasser abgetrennt. Nach einer Laufzeit von 21 h hatte die Säurezahl einen Wert < 2,5 erreicht. Während dieser Zeit wurde eine Wassermenge von 223 g abgeschieden. Anschliessend wurde der Ansatz auf 50 0C abgekühlt. Die Hydroxylzahl des Produkts betrug 80.
Beispiel 2: Heterogener Katalysator in Reaktionsmischung suspendiert
In einen temperierbaren Glasbehälter mit 10 Litern Volumen mit Rührer, Gaseinleitung und Thermostat wurden unter Durchleiten von Luft (1 ,0-faches Apparatevolumen pro Stunde) und Überlei- ten von Stickstoff (2,0-faches Apparatevolumen pro Stunde) 3975 g eines im Mittel 12-fach etho- xylierten, Trimethylolpropan-gestarteten Polyethers (Hydroxylzahl 255; Dynamische Viskosität 265 mPa«s bei 23 0C), 892,5 g Acrylsäure, 14,8 g 4-Methoxyphenol, 1 g 2,5-Di- tert.butylhydrochinon, 2557 g Isooktan und 200 g heterogener Katalysator Dowex 50Wx2 100- 200, ein saures Ionenaustauscherharz, eingewogen. Die Reaktionsmischung wurde gerührt und unter Normaldruckbedingungen auf Siedetemperatur (94 0C - 108 0C) erhitzt. Durch Verdampfung von Isooktan (2500 g/h) wurde das bei der Reaktion gebildete Wasser abgetrennt. Nach einer Laufzeit von 19 h hatte die Säurezahl einen Wert < 2,1 erreicht. Während dieser Zeit wurde eine Wassermenge von 220 g abgeschieden. Anschliessend wurde der Ansatz auf 50 0C abgekühlt. Die Hydroxylzahl des Produkts betrug 80.
Beispiel 3: Urethanisierung
In einem 1000 ml-Vierhals-Glaskolben mit Rückflusskühler, beheizbarem Ölbad, mechanischem
Rührer, Luftdurchleitung (1 Liter/h), Innenthermometer und Tropftrichter wurden 545,78 g des Produktes aus Beispiel 2, 0,8 g 2,6-Di-tert.butyl-4-methylphenol, 86,68g Hydroxyethylacrylat und
0,8 g Dibutylzinndilaurat vorgelegt und auf 60 0C erwärmt. Es wurden dann 165,93 g Isophoron- diisocyanat langsam unter Rühren über drei Stunden zugetropft. Anschließend wurde solange bei
60 0C nachgerührt, bis der NCO-Gehalt unter 0,2 % gesunken war (24 Stunden). Es wurde ein leicht gelbes Harz mit einem Rest-NCO-Gehalt von 0,13 % und einer Viskosität von 6280 mPa«s (23 0C) erhalten.
Claims
1. Verfahren zur heterogen katalysierten partiellen Veresterung von (Meth)Acrylsäure mit oxyalkylierten Polyolen, wobei die oxyalkylierten Polyole mindestens 3 freie Hydroxy- gruppen aufweisen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Katalysator ausgewählt ist aus der
Gruppe umfassend saure Ionenaustauscherharze und/oder saure Zeolithe.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 , wobei die oxyalkylierten Polyole einen Oxyalkylierungsgrad von > 1 bis < 30, vorzugsweise von > 3 bis < 25 aufweisen.
3. Verfahren nach Ansprüchen 1 oder 2, wobei der Katalysator weiterhin einen Stabilisator umfasst, welcher die Polymerisation von (Meth)Acrylsäure zumindest zu verlangsamen vermag und wobei die Konzentration des Stabilisators auf und/oder in dem Katalysator höher ist als die Konzentration des Stabilisators in der Reaktionslösung.
4. Verfahren nach Ansprüchen 1 bis 3, wobei die Reaktionsbedingungen ausgewählt sind aus der Gruppe umfassend: der Druck beträgt > 0,5 bar bis < 5 bar, vorzugsweise > 0,9 bar bis < 2 bar; die Temperatur beträgt > 50 0C bis < 150 0C, vorzugsweise > 80 0C bis < 120 0C; und/oder das molare Verhältnis von (Meth)Acrylsäure zu OH-Gruppen beträgt > 1 :3 bis < 3:3, vorzugsweise > 1 ,5:3 bis < 2,5:3.
5. Verfahren nach Ansprüchen 1 bis 4, wobei der Katalysator in einer Destillationskolonne immobilisiert wird.
6. Verfahren nach Ansprüchen 1 bis 4, wobei der Katalysator im Reaktionsmedium suspendiert wird.
7. Verfahren nach Ansprüchen 1 bis 4, wobei der Katalysator im Reaktionsmedium immobilisiert wird.
8. Verfahren nach Ansprüchen 1 bis 7, wobei nach der Veresterung die Umsetzung des erhaltenen (Meth)Acrylsäureesters mit einem Isocyanat erfolgt, vorzugsweise mit Isophorondii- socyanat, 1 ,6-Hexamethylendiisocyanat (HDI), Diphenylmethan-4,4'-diisocyanat (MDI),
2,4-Toluylendiisocyanat (TDI) und/oder 2,6-Toluylendiisocyanat (TDI).
9. (Meth)Acrylsäureester, erhalten durch ein Verfahren nach Ansprüchen 1 bis 8.
10. Verwendung von (Meth)Acrylsäureestern nach Anspruch 9 als strahlenhärtbare Verbin- düngen, vorzugsweise als Bindemittel zur Beschichtung von Flächen und/oder Gegenständen.
