Definitions

  • the invention relates to a sanitary fitting according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Sanitary fittings usually consist of certain components, namely housing, spout and functional parts for water flow.
  • the housing is often referred to as the body of the sanitary fitting.
  • the spout covers the part of the fitting from which the water flows.
  • the function parts for the water supply are usually on the one hand to the hoses or pipes, with the help of which the water (cold water, hot water) is supplied to the valve and on the other to those facilities, with which the water is guided inside the valve and for example, from cold water and hot water is mixed.
  • the valve elements associated with the outlet, jet regulators and the like should also belong to the said functional parts.
  • Sanitary fittings in particular their housing or body, are still made of cast brass today, as a rule.
  • the sanitary fittings are then provided on the outside with coatings, usually metal coatings, both for decorative reasons and for functional reasons.
  • the most well-known coating is the coating with chromium, the advantages of which, in particular with regard to corrosion protection, are readily known to the person skilled in the art. Chromium plating is usually carried out by electroplating, whereby further metal layers are provided underneath the chromium layer. The corresponding layer structures are also known to the person skilled in the art.
  • sanitary fittings may be coated, for example, to prevent the escape of certain metals that may be contained as an impurity in the brass casting. As such impurities lead and other heavy metals in particular should be mentioned.
  • WO 2005/064231 A1 is the outlet of a faucet shown (see Figure 12), which is made of a translucent material, such as plastic, crystal or glass.
  • this wrap-around type is for decorative purposes only to direct light from light-emitting diodes disposed in the base of the spout.
  • a separate water pipe which carries the water from the base of the spout to a jet regulator mounted at the end of the spout.
  • the WO 2006/094684 A also discloses a sanitary fitting in which the spout is made of transparent material, such as glass, and thus exhibits all the features of the preamble of claim 1. Again, light is coupled into the transparent material of the outlet, to achieve an effective lighting effect in this way.
  • a sanitary fitting in which below a discharge slot a circular sector-shaped disk is provided for generating a surge, shows the DE 39 15 357 A1 , With respect to this disc is in the document the note that this can be made of different materials (glass, stone, etc.).
  • the spout can be made of a translucent material.
  • This material may be, for example, glass or acrylic glass. Again, light is coupled to produce optical effects in the translucent material of the spout.
  • the invention has the task of to prevent the escape of harmful substances from the surfaces, which come into contact with the water flowing through the valve, from the outset.
  • the outer surfaces of the sanitary fitting either from the outset have a high decorative value, or they should be easily converted into decorative surfaces.
  • spout and functional parts for water flow is designed such that the spout is substantially free of water-bearing functional parts and the spout is made entirely of glass.
  • the housing is made entirely of glass.
  • Free of water-bearing functional parts means in the context of the invention that within the outlet made of glass no additional hoses, pipes and the like are provided, through which the water flows within the outlet. Accordingly, the water flows freely within the spout and can freely contact the inner surfaces, especially directly the glass surfaces of the spout.
  • outlet should generally be understood to mean the region which lies downstream of the mixer cartridge, that is, downstream thereof.
  • Water-conducting functional parts are present in the outlet only to the extent that, for example, a valve element or a jet regulator can be provided at the end of the outlet.
  • the spout and the housing is made substantially entirely of glass, has the distinct advantage that on the one hand no impurities present in the discharge material or in the housing material, such as heavy metals such as lead and the like, from the corresponding surfaces in the water that flows through the spout or the housing, can pass.
  • impurities are excluded from the outset, so that any existing legal limits for such impurities can be readily met.
  • the smooth inner surfaces also prevent the formation of deposits, which in turn can form nests for bacteria. So it is generally the water quality improved.
  • glass is a material that has very smooth, easy-to-clean surfaces.
  • glass surfaces are very scratch resistant.
  • the outer surfaces of the outlet and also of the housing made of glass can be further modified in a simple manner, for example by applying additional decorative layers.
  • Such layers may be, for example, color layers or even metal layers.
  • metal layers can be applied because consumers are used to having plumbing fixtures metallized.
  • the material "glass” also opens up completely new design possibilities for sanitary fittings. So you can, for example As a matter of course, do not further coat the spout so that the consumer can see the water flowing through the glass spout when the fitting is in use. It can also deliberately special optical effects are achieved by, for example, different sections of the outlet coated, either with layers of paint or with metal layers, and other sections are left transparent. It can for example also be provided the case that the housing, in which usually are the functional parts for guiding water, coated on the outer surfaces, in particular metallized, so that the functional parts are not visible from the outside. The spout itself can then be deliberately transparent, ie left uncoated.
  • glass should be understood as broadly as possible in the invention.
  • the inorganic glass which is used according to the invention for the production of the spout and the housing, to conventional technical glasses such as quartz glass or lead silicate glass or in particular soda-lime silicate glass or borosilicate glass.
  • the glasses used in the invention are transparent after their preparation.
  • the advantages that emerge from the inner, in contact with the water-contacting surfaces no impurities and / or that the outer surfaces are coated with advantage, of course, are also achieved with opaque, for example, correspondingly colored glass materials. With opaque or transparent glasses, however, can be achieved particularly beautiful visual effects, which further increases the variation possibilities of the different versions of sanitary fittings.
  • the glass material has the advantage that provided in a simple way profilings in the housing or in particular in the outlet could be. Under profilings should be understood here different thicknesses areas (wall thicknesses) in the material, so that, for example, certain areas taper in their wall thickness or thicken, possibly also at regular intervals. As a result, for example, the strength of the material can be increased, or in particular certain optical effects can be achieved in the glass material.
  • the housing and / or the outlet are at least partially provided with a coating on their inside and / or outside.
  • Such a coating can in principle also be provided on the insides of the housing or the outlet. As already mentioned, such a coating is not required to prevent the escape of contaminants from the material glass itself. In the present case, such coatings will serve primarily decorative purposes. For example, such an inner coating may be provided so that the spout or the housing for the viewer appears partially or completely invisible, but from the outside the material glass remains visible. In this way, for example, existing functional parts within the housing remain invisible to the viewer, and still the visual impression of a sanitary fitting made of glass can be maintained.
  • the coating is a coating of a metal or a Metal alloy.
  • metals or metal alloys it is possible in particular to provide the decorative surfaces which are known to the consumer in the case of sanitary fittings and which are desired by him in sanitary fittings.
  • the metal is zirconium, titanium or chromium, with preferably glossy coatings being provided.
  • the metal or metal alloy may be a noble metal or a noble metal alloy.
  • precious metals for example, silver and gold to name and as precious metal alloys those containing palladium or platinum as an alloying ingredient.
  • alloys containing ruthenium should be mentioned in this context, with nickel-chromium-ruthenium alloys again being emphasized here.
  • metal layers can be provided on the outer surfaces of the outlet and / or the housing, which cause the viewer the visual impression of a steel surface.
  • These may be alloy layers of palladium-nickel or nickel-tungsten.
  • the coatings mentioned are applied to the surfaces of the sanitary fitting, in particular the outlet or the housing, preferably in a PVD or in a CVD method. These are the methods of “physical vapor deposition” (PVD) or “chemical vapor deposition” (CVD). In connection with the CVD method, in particular the method of “atomic layer deposition” (ALD) should be mentioned here. All of these methods are known in principle to the person skilled in the art.
  • the advantages of the present invention are particularly significant.
  • sanitary fittings made of standard materials such as cast brass are usually galvanically coated. This leads to time-consuming processes with a large number of process steps.
  • hard coatings particularly hard metal coatings, can be applied to a hard surface, namely the glass surface.
  • the glass surfaces are scratch resistant and smooth, so that consuming grinding operations, as they must be provided in brass cast, can be omitted.
  • the activation of the glass surfaces for said PVD and CVD processes is not critical and known to the person skilled in the art. For example, it can be wet-chemically with the aid of oxidizing solutions.
  • mixer cartridges are used as functional parts in the sanitary fittings according to the invention, as used for example in the DE 100 11 505 A1 are described.
  • embodiments can be provided for water supply functional parts, in the present case consisting of “base part” and “intermediate element” in a simple manner in the housing of the sanitary fitting.
  • embodiments may also preferably be provided in which the mixer cartridge together with other water-bearing functional parts forms a structural unit.
  • sensor elements for actuating the valve and / or for measuring the flow rate, the speed, the temperature and the like of the water flowing through can be provided in the sanitary fitting according to the invention.
  • Such sensor elements are known to the person skilled in the art, and these can also be integrated with preference into the corresponding functional parts, that is, for example, in mixer cartridges.
  • connecting elements for connecting the functional parts with the housing or the outlet are provided.
  • This may be, for example, sleeve-like or nipple-like connecting elements, preferably made of plastic.
  • These can, for example, in the corresponding components, preferably the housing, are glued or fixed by means of fastening or locking means, such as pins or sleeves made of plastic.
  • light-emitting elements for. B. light emitting diodes may be provided. With such bulbs, the design options of the present invention can be exploited or even further improved.
  • the reference sanitary fitting 1 consists of a housing 2 and an outlet 3.
  • the housing 2 is made of cast brass, while the outlet 3 is made of a borosilicate glass.
  • a mixer cartridge 4 which is aligned by means of suitable sealing elements 5 with the corresponding parts of the housing 2.
  • the mixer cartridge 4 is associated with an actuating element 6, by means of which the cold water and hot water flowing in via the supply lines 7a or 7b can be mixed and forwarded in the direction of the outlet. This is in Fig. 1 only shown schematically.
  • Housing 2 and outlet 3 are connected via a nipple-like connecting element 8 with suitable sealing elements 9.
  • the housing 2 made of cast brass can be assembled with the outlet 3 made of glass material.
  • Fig. 1 an embodiment in which only the spout is made of glass material.
  • the outlet 3 no water-conducting elements are provided so that the water leaving the mixer cartridge 4 can flow through the outlet 3 essentially freely and can come into direct contact with the inner glass surfaces.
  • Fig. 2 is opposite to the execution of Fig. 1 According modified according to the invention that in this sanitary fitting 11, both the housing 12 and the outlet 13 are made of borosilicate glass. It is according to Fig. 2 an integral embodiment of the sanitary fitting 11 shown. However, it can be implemented in the same way embodiments in which a separately manufactured housing made of glass with a separately manufactured outlet of glass, as in an embodiment according to Fig. 1 , be connected in two parts.
  • a mixer cartridge 14 with suitable sealing elements 15 is likewise arranged.
  • an actuating element 16 is provided in a corresponding manner, with the aid of which the supply lines 17a and 17b inflowing cold water and hot water regulated and is deflected in the direction of the outlet.
  • the water flow is in Fig. 2 also not shown in detail.
  • Fig. 2 In the execution according to Fig. 2 come a variety of the described advantages of the invention to bear. Due to the fact that the housing 12 and outlet 13 are made of glass, there are no internal surfaces from which impurities, in particular heavy metals, could escape. Accordingly, any existing statutory provisions are readily met, which can be ensured for example in sanitary fittings made of brass casting only by consuming additional measures, in particular coatings. Otherwise, according to Fig. 2 Both the housing 12 and the outlet 13 to the outside hard, scratch-resistant surfaces provided. These can then be optionally what is in Fig. 2 is not shown in detail, partially or completely coat with the aid of comparatively simple methods, for example with the aid of a PVD method. The relevant parts of the previous description is expressly referred to and made reference.
