Abstract

Flowable laundry treatment agents can be added in automatically metered dosages via a metering line to a laundry treatment process by means of an automatic metering system comprising a reservoir. Advantageously, a metering line of is flushed with a rinsing agent, particularly water, after adding a dose. In order to prevent the development of germs in the residues of the rinsing agents, comprising diluted residues of laundry treatment agents, when remaining in the fluid lines for a longer period of time, exemplary embodiments of the invention provide for the metering line to be flushed immediately before adding a dose.

Description

Method for cleaning dosing lines in automatically controlled laundry treatment machines, in which flowable laundry treatment agents are supplied from at least one reservoir in machine-sized doses via a dosing to a laundry treatment process, which are rinsed after supplying a dose by means of a rinsing agent, in particular by means of water can.
Such methods are used in devices or washing machines of the prior art (DE 32 37 785 A1, DE 35 25 365 A1, EP-421 085 A2). As a rinse this water is used regularly, namely fresh water directly from the domestic water network in DE 32 37 785 A1, fresh water from a water mask, which is notoriously present in Waschmittelzugabekanal and serve the closure against emerging from the tub fog (DE 35 25 365 A19 ) and fresh water from the house water network, which is stored in a disposable amount in a storage container (EP-421 085 A2). All known techniques for rinsing dosing lines serve to avoid mixing of detergents and washing additives (bleaching agents, fabric softeners), which could lead to reactions between the different laundry treatment agents. Thus, it is to be feared that undesirably long-chain molecules or water-insoluble compounds are formed or exothermic reactions or damage to individual items of laundry occur. To avoid such dangers, those line areas which are wetted by a respectively metered laundry treatment agent - hereinafter referred to as dosing line - are rinsed after its addition with said rinsing agent (water, especially fresh water). All known measures for rinsing the dosing is common, however, that remain after rinsing residues of the mixture of fresh water and small portions of the just rinsed laundry treatment agent. This can lead to a multiply increased nucleation potential, especially when using organic chemicals (eg detergent surfactants). In contrast, highly concentrated surfactant solutions, which may even be alkaline, have biocidal properties. Residues of such solutions can therefore not germinate. On the other hand, the detergent components in the remaining residues of rinsing solutions can lead to dries, sedimentation or inkrustrationen on conveyors (pumps, valves) and thereby cause disruption of their operation.
The invention has for its object to set up a method of the type described above so that the above hazards can no longer occur. In particular, it should be avoided that residues of diluted laundry treatment agents can form germs and that different proportions in the rinse solutions can react with one another and their reaction results seriously disturb the further process in a laundry treatment machine. According to the invention, this object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1 in such a way that the dosing is rinsed immediately before supplying a dose. By this time sequence of the flushing of the metering line, which is changed in comparison with the prior art, it is possible to prevent nucleation. For as long as the dosing line has not been rinsed and still contains residues of a highly concentrated laundry treatment product originating from the last addition, no germs can form. On the other hand, higher concentrated residues of laundry treatment agents, which, moreover, are still present in a relatively large amount in the absence of previous dilution, dry out less rapidly than very small amounts of strongly diluted residues. Therefore, the laziness delayed until shortly before the addition of a dose of another laundry treating agent is much more effective in accomplishing the above object than the prior art rinse following the completion of the addition of a dose of treating agent.
If in a method according to the invention different laundry treatment agents are supplied via the same metering line, it is of particular advantage if the metering line is only rinsed before a dose of another laundry treatment agent is to be supplied or if the metering line is only rinsed before a dose of another laundry treatment agent should be supplied, which could react with the laundry treatment agent of the previous dose. Regularly, at least parts of the dosing lines in the further treatment process, which is no longer interrupted by the addition of laundry treatment, anyway come back with water or alkali, so that the dosing or parts of it are rinsed without a further addition of laundry treatment. On the other hand, a compulsory controller of the laundry treating machine may be informed of the characteristics of the respective laundry treating agent and only make a rinse if the following laundry detergent to be dosed may react with the preceding laundry. Also, a flushing of the dosing line could be made dependent on how long the immediately preceding supply of a dose is behind and / or how fast the laundry treatment agent of the immediately preceding dosing dries, sediments or thus increments its state of aggregation. Namely, if the likelihood of reactions between the doses of successive laundry treating agents or a change in state of aggregation makes rinsing obsolete, it may be omitted. This saves water and time.
A rinse may also be applied in more than one step according to a further development of the invention. This may be beneficial if a time has elapsed since the last addition of a laundry treatment agent that tends to dry, sediment or incre- ment, indicating a change in the state of aggregation. Then, with a first or further rinsing steps, the remainder of the residues of laundry treatment agent would be operated and, with a subsequent rinsing step, only the almost complete rinsing. Advantageously, according to a further embodiment of the invention, relevant peculiarities of all the laundry treatment agents used should be stored in the laundry treatment machine and taken into account when deciding on a conditioner and possibly on its character. Alternatively or additionally, the relevant peculiarities of laundry treatment agents could be determined from current measurement results and taken into account when deciding on a conditioner and possibly also on its character. In the second case, the control device could be designed to be adaptive and replace stored peculiarities by measuring results on a younger sample of the same laundry treatment agent.
- A -For a subsequent delivery of a dose following delivery of a further dose in a possible selection of a plurality of different laundry treatment means, the control device could also select that for the subsequent dosage, which does not react detrimentally with the laundry treatment agent of the previous supply. Occasionally for individual laundry treatment sections several possible laundry treatment products to choose from, so that may be made by the selection may one that does not respond to the previous reaction. In such cases, the method according to the invention can also be improved in such a way that a delivery of a further dose following the delivery of a dose is already carried out at least partially together with the rinsing step or the rinsing steps or parts thereof. - A -
Reference to an embodiment schematically shown in the drawing, the inventive method is illustrated.

All devices and devices shown are well known from the prior art and require no individual explanation. These inputs and devices can be operated according to the above explanations of the method according to the invention to solve the above-described task. This method ensures the freedom from maintenance of a metering system operated in this way, avoids gelation, incrustations and resulting damage, in particular to the conveying components. It reduces the pump capacity to be installed and prevents contamination of residues of dissolved laundry treatment products. These advantages are the basic prerequisite for ensuring the complete functionality of a dosing system for several laundry treatment agents over the life of a laundry treating machine equipped therewith. By clever combination of the claimed features, a resource-saving solution is possible because only one flush is turned on when a reaction between different laundry treatment products must be feared. As a result, the assured properties of the laundry treatment agent are also obtained.
