Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for producing a climbing skin, which has at least one substrate and on this a pile with inclined fibers.
Climbing skins, also called skins, usually consist of a base fabric, a reinforcement and a pile woven in the ground fabric. The pile consists for example of mohair fibers, fibers of mixed yarn or fully synthetic fibers. The attachment of the ski skins on the ski is usually done with an adhesive and fittings.
In such a climbing skin climbing ability in addition to the ability to climb is essential. In order to ensure a good gradeability, it is necessary that the climbing skin does not slip back when rising. For this, the pile has to cling to the rearward movement or hook in. This is achieved by an inclination of the pile to the rear. The angle of inclination of the fibers is between 0 and 35 °, depending on the material and intended use.
The usual production of the pile is usually done on looms, whereby a double fabric is produced, which is cut in half on the loom. So that the fibers of the pile have the oblique position required for rising in the snow, the fibers are already woven in at an angle on the loom. With steam can the Slope slightly corrected. However, it is difficult to exactly reach the desired inclination angle of the fibers. The production of such a climbing skin is relatively expensive. Also desirable would be a climbing skin that has a low weight.
The invention has for its object to provide a method for producing a climbing skin, which is less expensive and can be made with the same time lighter climbing skins.
The object is achieved in a generic method in that a layer of a plastic adhesive is applied to the substrate that provided the plastic layer with fibers, for example, is flocked that the plastic adhesive crosslinks and hardens and substantially the fibers with a on the Flor acting heated pressure medium are tilted. In the method according to the invention, therefore, the pile is not produced by weaving as usual, but for example by flocking. For flocking, a device known per se for electrostatic flocking can be used. Such flocking is much cheaper than the usual weaving. After flocking, the fibers are perpendicular to the substrate. The fibers are tilted by making them soft with a heated pressure medium and forced into the skew. Are the fibers resp. the pile is tilted, so the whole construction is fixed in the inclined position by passing through cooling plates.
A significant advantage of the inventive method is that the inclination of the pile can be adjusted much more precisely than in a woven pile. In addition, a climbing skin can be produced with the method according to the invention, the weight of which is lower than in a climbing skin previously produced by weaving.
According to a development of the invention, it is provided that the substrate after flocking between two spaced-apart heated plates is passed. This allows a particularly efficient and simple workflow.
According to a development of the invention, it is provided that the pressure medium has on an inner side means, for example grooves for aligning the fibers in the longitudinal direction of the base fabric. This allows a very exact longitudinal alignment of the fibers. This longitudinal orientation is essential for the slipperiness and directional stability of the climbing skin.
According to a development of the invention it is provided that the skin construction is cooled after tilting the fibers. The cooling takes place for example between two cooling plates. By cooling the adhesive, the oblique position of the pile is fixed, so that it remains in the intended angle. Preferably, the pile provided substrate is placed on a unwinding device. For heating and tilting the pile, the web wound on the unwinding device is pulled off this unwinding device. The advance of the web takes place for example by driven pressure rollers in a take-up area.
Suitable adhesives are, for example, acrylates or silicone adhesives. But there are also other suitable plastic adhesive conceivable in which fibers can be anchored to form a pile.
The device according to the invention for carrying out the method has a device for feeding the webbed substrate, a device for heating the web and means for tilting the fibers. In the device according to the invention, the starting material is thus assumed to be a substrate already provided with a pile. This can be obtained from a roll or, of course, also produced yourself. From the finished track, the stripes for the skins are cut out and can then be made up exactly for the corresponding ski.
