Definitions

  • the invention relates to a toilet seat with suction openings for sucking air from a toilet bowl, comprising a cavity in the seat connected to the suction openings, a suction device and filter means, the seat having a fastening area and a front area.
  • the invention also relates to a toilet equipped with such a seat.
  • a toilet seat or a toilet of the type mentioned is known.
  • This toilet seat has a circumferential cavity into which air can be sucked from the toilet bowl into the cavity via a plurality of round suction openings on the underside of the seat. This takes place via a blower arranged outside the toilet seat, which forces the air sucked in through an activated carbon filter.
  • US-A-6 055 677 shows a toilet seat or a toilet with suction of air from the toilet bowl.
  • CH-A-469 869 shows an intermediate ring below a toilet seat that has a channel with a single slot-shaped opening on one side of the toilet bowl. A second opening on the other side of the toilet bowl is provided as an air outlet to create an air curtain over the toilet bowl. The extracted air is not fed into a filter.
  • a toilet seat with a plurality of suction openings in the form of slots is known, which are arranged distributed on its inner periphery.
  • the suction openings are connected to a common fan via ducts.
  • the GB 2 330 152 Figure 12 shows a toilet seat with a substantially one-piece suction opening located on the inner periphery of the seat. In the mouth area of the suction opening webs are provided which serve to reinforce the seat and to guide the flowing air.
  • WO00 / 77311A a toilet seat with several suction openings is known.
  • the suction openings are slit-shaped and widen from the outside inwards in the direction of the cavity of the seat.
  • the aim of the invention is to improve the extraction of air and thus the neutralization of odors.
  • At least one of the suction openings is designed as a slot on both sides of the longitudinal center line of the toilet seat and the slot or slots essentially extend or extend from the fastening area to the front area.
  • Suction openings are preferably only provided to the side of the longitudinal center line of the toilet seat and not in the front area itself; if suction openings are also provided there, they are not designed as slot-shaped openings there. It has been shown that the seat opening area adjoining the front area should be used in particular for the flow of fresh air into the bowl, which is more likely to be disturbed by slot-shaped suction openings in the front area.
  • the slot-shaped suction openings are provided in the side wall of the seat on the side of the bowl.
  • the arrangement of the slots is provided on the underside of the seat. A combination of slots arranged in the side wall and on the underside is also preferred.
  • the suction slots are on the bottom with a changing one Executed opening width, in particular with a width that increases in relation to the fastening area of the seat. This can also be the case for slots in the side wall.
  • the cavity into which the air from the toilet bowl enters via the suction openings does not extend circumferentially as a cavity throughout the seat.
  • Two cavity parts are preferably formed so that there is no cavity in the front of the seat into which air is sucked in.
  • At least one of the cavity parts has a changing cross-sectional area at least adjoining the suction opening.
  • this enables a uniform, in particular largely laminar air flow to be achieved in the seat.
  • the cross-sectional area increases from the closed end of the cavity part to the open end or the connecting end of the two cavities. This allows a good flow of a filter medium arranged in the seat.
  • a suction device is arranged in the seat for each cavity part. With this arrangement, the conveyance of a quantity of air can be achieved which largely avoids the escape of odor from the toilet bowl and a disruptive fan outside the seat can be omitted. It is also preferred if the filter means are also accommodated in the seat. The embodiment according to the invention with two suction means or fans is particularly advantageous for this arrangement as well.
  • FIG 1 shows a toilet seat in plan view from above, that is, in the direction of view of the seat surface.
  • the toilet seat 1 has a conventional shape with an annular seat surface with a seat opening 11.
  • the seat is designed symmetrically to its longitudinal center line A and has a fastening area 12 in the rear part, which has fastening means (not shown) for arranging the seat on a toilet.
  • the fastening area is essentially the area behind the imaginary line D, which is tangent to the seat opening.
  • the seat is arranged in a known manner so that it can be pivotably attached to the toilet.
  • a front area 13 of the seat can be defined in such a way that it is located in front of the imaginary line C which is tangent to the seat opening 11.
  • the design of such a seat made of plastic, wood or other materials is known to the person skilled in the art and in principle does not need to be explained further here.
  • the seat according to the invention has a cavity 4 in its interior.
  • the cavity 4 is divided into two cavity parts 5 and 6 lying on both sides of the longitudinal center line A. These cavity parts 5 and 6 are connected to one another in the fastening area 12. In contrast, they are closed in the front area 13 of the seat 1 or are not connected to one another.
  • slot-shaped suction openings 2, 2 ' through which air can be sucked from the toilet bowl into the cavity, are now provided in the seat on both sides of the line A.
  • These elongated slots extend essentially between the front area 13 and the fastening area 12 but preferably not into them.
  • the arrows a indicate how air from the seat opening 11 or from the toilet bowl through the slot-shaped openings. 2, 2 'enters the cavity 4 or the lateral cavity parts 5, 6.
  • the cavity parts 5 and 6 are designed so that their cross-sectional area changes over part of the cavity. It can be seen that the cavity part 5 at its front end area 5 ′, at which it is closed apart from the slit opening 2 ′, initially has a small cross-sectional area and widens in the direction of the fastening area 12. A similar course with a slightly different shape is shown for the cavity part 6. The change in cross-sectional area is selected in connection with the shape of the slot-shaped suction openings 2 or 2 'so that the most uniform possible, in particular laminar, flow is established in the respective cavity part at least in the area of the suction slits. The air flow in the cavity is indicated by the arrows b.
  • the suction means which sucks the air out of the toilet bowl via the suction slots, has two fans 8 and 9, which are each assigned to a cavity part 5 and 6, respectively. It can be known axial fans or radial fans, for example, which are driven in particular by a low-voltage electric motor, for example 12 volts.
  • the blowers 8 and 9 are then operated via a transformer, which transforms the mains voltage of the household network for the fan motors.
  • a manually operated switch can be provided on the seat 1 through which the suction means can be put into operation.
  • a switch can also be provided which activates the suction device when the toilet seat is loaded by a person.
  • a circuit can also be provided which continues to operate the suction device for a certain time after the switch has been switched off or relieved, in order to keep the odor extraction system running for some time after the toilet has been used.
  • the design of such switch-on means and timing circuits are known to the person skilled in the art and need not be explained further here.
  • the filter means 10 is also arranged in the seat itself and has an activated carbon filter 15 and a pre-filter 17 connected upstream in the flow direction. The air flowing out of the fans 8 and 9 first passes the pre-filter 17 and then the activated carbon filter 15 and can then flow out of the seat 1 in a cleaned state. Corresponding air outlet openings are provided in the rear part of the fastening area 12, but not shown.
  • the arrows b indicate how the air in the cavity parts 5, 6 on both sides reaches the blowers 8, 9 and flows through them and into the interconnected cavity parts 5, 6 and flows to the outside via the filter medium 10.
  • the part of the seat that receives the filter medium is provided with air outlet openings behind the filter in the direction of flow. This part of the seat also has a cover so that the filter medium can be easily replaced.
  • FIG. 13 shows a sectional view along the line BB from FIG Figure 1 , being in the left and right halves of Figure 2 different embodiments are shown.
  • a toilet seat 1 In the case of a toilet seat 1, only one or the other version is generally selected, so that the same version is selected on both sides of the longitudinal center line A. To explain various embodiments is Figure 2 but has been divided accordingly.
  • the slot-shaped suction opening 2 ' is arranged in the side wall 7 of the seat on the side of the bowl. The air thus enters the cavity 5 of the seat 1 from the side. It is shown how the seat 1 rests on an only indicated bowl rim 20 of a toilet.
  • the slit-shaped opening 2 ' can be a single elongated opening or can be divided into a plurality of elongated openings.
  • the opening width d of the suction slot changes over the entire length of the slot along the same.
  • the opening width of the slot in the front area 5 'of the cavity can be smaller than in the rear, fastening-side area 5 ".
  • Another embodiment is shown, in which one elongated suction opening or at most several elongated suction openings are arranged on the underside of the seat. In the case of the suction opening 2 on the underside, the opening width d thereof is different along the slot.
  • the opening width corresponds to the change in the cross section of the cavity 6, so that in this embodiment, too, there is preferably a small opening width in the area of the closed end 6 'of the cavity and a larger opening width in the rear, fastening-side area 6 "of the cavity 6 can in particular the opening width of the slot continuously from a small opening width in the front area to one larger opening width in the area of the fastening.
  • Figure 3 shows the version with suction openings on the underside of the seat 1 in a view of the seat from below.
  • a suction opening 2 ' is shown as an elongated slot with an increasing opening width.
  • the slot could also be formed by a plurality of elongated slots so that a web 22 would be provided along the slot.
  • the slot opening essentially corresponds to the boundaries of the cavity, so that it has a cross-sectional area that changes in accordance with the slot width.
  • an elongated slot-shaped suction opening 2 is shown which, apart from its front area, has an essentially constant opening width, which is not within the meaning of the present invention.
  • the hollow space part 6 is also indicated by a broken line, which in this case has a cross-sectional area which towards the fastening area does not correspond to the opening width of the slot 2, which is also not within the meaning of the present invention.
