Definitions
- the invention relates to a urinal with a shell which forms a urinal basin, which has an outlet opening in its bottom, and with a mechanical odor trap connected to the outlet opening.
- Out CH 694 274 is a urinal of this type is known in which a magnetically actuated linearbewegmaschine stopper is provided as odor trap.
- the object of the invention is therefore to provide a low-maintenance waterless urinal, which nevertheless has an effective odor trap.
- This object is achieved in that the odor trap is balanced by a counterweight flap.
- the principle of the so-called "Klenk flap” is known as such for a long time, for example DE 23 23 687 a or DE 27 01 157 A and is that the flap has the shape of a substantially horizontally oriented in the closed position shell, which is balanced by a counterweight so that it opens by gravity, as soon as a small amount of liquid has accumulated in the shell.
- the bottom of the shell has such a slope that the liquid continues to flow away from the pivot axis, so that the flap is fully pivoted into the open position due to the larger lever arm, until finally the liquid leaks and the flap returns to the closed position.
- EP 1 657 373 A2 is a stench trap with such a flap for wastewater drainage systems known, which is a particularly space-saving Structure and in particular has a low height. Also for toilets such flaps are already known as odor trap ( US 3,949,431 ).
- the invention is based on the recognition that such a flap is suitable as an effective odor trap despite the generally only small amounts of liquid that are produced in a urinal.
- the flap can be interpreted so sensitive that even the smallest amounts of urine cause an opening of the flap and thus ensures that virtually no urine stops above the odor trap and thus odor nuisance can be effectively suppressed.
- this mechanical odor trap proves to be extremely robust and easy to maintain due to the simple mechanism.
- the essential advantage is that eliminates all problems associated with the loss of barrier fluid and the associated monitoring and maintenance.
- Urinal shown has a trained for wall mounting shell 10, which is preferably made by injection molding in one piece of plastic.
- the shell 10 forms a vertical, convexly curved wall 12 and a projecting from the convex front of this wall 12 Urinalbecken 14.
- the wall 12 is limited together with a building wall 16 (FIG. FIG. 4 ), to which the urinal 10 is attached, an approximately semi-cylindrical chamber 18 which is tapered at the top and bottom so that it tapers forward, and which receives a waterless odor trap 20.
- the upper and lower openings of the chamber 18 are closed by releasable covers 22, 24.
- a plurality of small outlet openings 26 are formed in the bottom of the urinal basin, which pass through the wall 12 with a slight gradient and open directly above the odor trap 20.
- a laid in the building wall 16 drain pipe 28 can be seen, which is connected to the odor trap 20.
- the odor trap 20 is detachably mounted in the example shown in a horizontally disposed in the chamber 18 and integrally connected to the wall 12 intermediate bottom 30.
- a pot 30 a is integrally formed in one piece, which receives the odor trap 20.
- the structure of the odor trap 20 is in Fig. 5 shown in more detail.
- a sloping to a drain opening 32 wall 34 is surrounded by a circumferential seal 36 and is inserted into the pot 30 a, that the seal 36 seals on the wall of this pot and the wall 34 closes the pot upwards.
- the drain opening 32 is in the in Fig. 5 shown state of a cup-shaped flap 38 is sealed, which is pivotable about an axis 40 and is balanced by a counterweight 42 so that it is held with a low closing force in the closed position.
- Fig. 7 shows a modified embodiment in which instead of the cup-shaped flap 38, a plate-shaped flap 46 is provided, which seals at an obliquely cut end of a downcomer 48.
- This flat, plate-shaped design of the flap is particularly advantageous in urinals, since in this arrangement even a few drops of liquid suffice to cause the flap to open. Due to the inclination of the flap, the liquid collects at the lowest point of the peripheral wall of the downcomer 48, so that the liquid acts on the flap over a maximum long lever arm. As soon as a gap between the flap and the edge of the downcomer 48, which may also be formed as a seal, opens, the liquid can drip, after which the flap automatically closes again.
- the flap and / or the lower edge region of the drain neck can be made of a water-repellent material.
- a spring 50 additionally acts on the flap 46, which here acts in the opening direction of the flap, but could optionally also act in the closing direction of the flap.
- the flap is balanced by the counterweight 42 so that the resultant of all the forces acting on the flap causes a closing moment that can be overcome even by very small amounts of liquid.
- the spring 50 is in this example at the same time part of an electrically operated positive opening mechanism, which also includes an armature 52 and a magnetic coil 54.
- the embodiment is particularly intended for urinals in which a water rinse is provided, which, however, can be designed for very low water consumption.
- the water rinse can be controlled so that at certain intervals a small amount of water is introduced into the urinal basin and drained through the drain pipe 48 to remove any remaining urine residues.
- the solenoid 54 is then energized for a time, so that the armature 52 pulls the flap 46 by means of the spring 50 in the open position and the water can drain freely. When the spool is de-energized, the flap 46 pivots back to the closed position due to the action of the counterweight 42.
- the spring 50 can either be relaxed or slightly stressed to tensile stress.
- the flap 46 can open automatically due to the weight of the liquid, even if the solenoid 54 is not energized.
- the solenoid coil 54 may be activated by a proximity sensor that determines if a person is in front of the urinal, as is common practice in urinals with flushing. When the sensor detects that the person has left the urinal, purging is activated for a short period of time and at the same time the flap 46 is kept open by means of the positive opening mechanism. After a certain time, when the rinse water has expired completely, the flap is then closed by deenergizing the solenoid 54 again.
- FIG. 8 and 9 schematically another embodiment of the flap 46 is shown.
- the flap here again has the shape of a flat plate, but lies the pivot point 40 here within the downcomer 48, and the counterweight 42 is formed by a thickened portion of the flap 46 and is also within the downcomer.
- a slightly rounded shoulder 56 is formed, which allows to store the axis 40 in the drain pipe 48.
- the flap 46 has only about one half of its circumference a diameter which is greater than the inner diameter of the downcomer 48, while on the other half of its circumference, left in Fig. 8 , Is designed so that it rests with its edge sealingly against the inner wall of the drain neck.
- the transition between the two peripheral regions is in the form of a step 58 (FIG. Fig. 9 ), which moves when opening the flap frictionless or at least friction on the shoulder 56 along.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a urinal with a shell which forms a urinal basin, which has an outlet opening in its bottom, and with a mechanical odor trap connected to the outlet opening.
The object of the invention is therefore to provide a low-maintenance waterless urinal, which nevertheless has an effective odor trap.
This object is achieved in that the odor trap is balanced by a counterweight flap.
The invention is based on the recognition that such a flap is suitable as an effective odor trap despite the generally only small amounts of liquid that are produced in a urinal. The flap can be interpreted so sensitive that even the smallest amounts of urine cause an opening of the flap and thus ensures that virtually no urine stops above the odor trap and thus odor nuisance can be effectively suppressed. In this case, this mechanical odor trap proves to be extremely robust and easy to maintain due to the simple mechanism. Compared to waterless urinals, which work with barrier fluid, the essential advantage is that eliminates all problems associated with the loss of barrier fluid and the associated monitoring and maintenance.

If urine is passed over the
In the example shown, a
The
In another embodiment, the
