Claims (10)

  1. Installation for coating a sheet of fibrous material (2) with a coating medium;
    - having a roll (1) around which the sheet of fibrous material (2) wraps during operation;
    - having an application device (3) for direct application of the coating colour to the sheet of fibrous material (2) or for indirect application, firstly to the circumferential surface of the roll (1) and then to the sheet of fibrous material (2);
    - having a supporting beam (5), which supports the application device (3) and which, in the operating position, is pivoted up to the sheet of fibrous material (2) and, in the rest position, is pivoted away from the latter;
    - having a catwalk (8), which is used by the operating personnel for access on foot and which is arranged in the area of the supporting beam (5), specifically below the supporting beam (5) and - in side view - is offset laterally with respect to the said beam;
    characterized by the following features:
    - a flat curtain (9) is provided, which is kept tensioned or taut, is suspended on the supporting beam (5) and - in side view - is located in a vertical plane between the supporting beam (5) and the catwalk (8);
    - in the operating position of the supporting beam (5) with the application device (3), the lower end of the curtain (9) reaches at least as far as the catwalk (8); which means that the curtain (9) acts as a mechanical protective device.
  2. Installation according to Claim 1, characterized in that a tensioning device (10) is provided, which acts on the lower end of the curtain (9).
  3. Installation according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the tensioning device (10) is a weight.
  4. Installation according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the tensioning device (10) is a spring.
  5. Installation according to one of Claims 1 to 4, characterized in that one end of the curtain (9) is fixed to the catwalk (8), and in that the curtain (9) wraps around a deflection roller (16) mounted on the supporting beam (5) such that it can rotate.
