- This arrangement makes it possible to meet the constraints of the operations of placement of the connectors by nozzles at a high rate. - At least one recess is formed in at least one elastic tab, allowing access of a suction nozzle to the gripping zone.
- This arrangement allows access to the gripping zone from above the connector, while maintaining lateral dimensions of the connector and a spacing limited elastic tabs.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a connector forming a surface mount component.
It is known to use connectors forming a surface mount component (CMS) for the purpose of connecting external conductive elements with the tracks and the components integral with a substrate.
The outer conductive elements may consist of tabs, pins, circuit boards, printed matter or other conductive substrates that may come from different directions.
Another connector is known from the document
a flat base intended to be fixed on a substrate,
at least two elastic tabs connected to the base, located above the latter, and intended to form between them a clamping position for a conductive element,
at least one opening being provided in the base, arranged for the passage of a conductive element intended to be clamped between the elastic tabs,
a gripping area by a suction nozzle formed by a portion of the flat base accessible from above the connector.
The object of the present invention is to provide a connector whose design is adapted to the automatic cycle of gripping / placement / reflow soldering of CMS assembly lines at high speeds.
To this end, the invention relates to a connector of the aforementioned type, characterized in that the gripping zone is located between the elastic tabs, centrally relative to the base of the connector, each opening being located laterally with respect to the zone grasping.
This arrangement makes it possible to meet the constraints of the operations of placement of the connectors by nozzles at a high rate. Indeed; when handling the nozzles, these can be subjected to rotational movements with significant accelerations: it is appropriate in these conditions that the mass of the connector is distributed in a balanced manner around the axis of rotation, which corresponds to the axis of the nozzle.
According to one embodiment, at least one recess is formed in at least one elastic tab, allowing access of a suction nozzle to the gripping zone.
This arrangement allows access to the gripping zone from above the connector, while maintaining lateral dimensions of the connector and a spacing limited elastic tabs.
According to one embodiment, two lateral flanks connect the base to the two elastic tabs, the two resilient tabs converging towards the base from the upper parts of the flanks, in the direction of the clamping location.
Thus, the elastic tabs are folded towards the base inside the two sides with an angle that brings the two walls closer to the elastic tabs vis-à-vis and allows their bending to ensure quality contacts over a large range of thicknesses of male conductive elements.
Advantageously, the inner walls of the resilient tabs facing the clamping location have diverging lateral edges forming a lateral flare of the clamping position towards the outside of the connector.
This arrangement facilitates the lateral entry of a conductive element of the male contact type. Moreover, the realization of this edge over a sufficient height and width at least partially closes the lateral tunnel formed between each elastic tab, the side to which it is attached and the base, thus reducing the risk of entanglement of the connectors in a vibrating bowl. .
According to one embodiment, the inner walls of the resilient tabs facing the clamping location have diverging lower edges, forming a flare towards the base of the clamping location.
This flare makes it easier to introduce a conductive element of the male contact type from below the contactor, through an opening in the base.
According to one embodiment, the recess extends to the lower edge of the elastic tab, separating it into two elastic portions.
This arrangement allows to provide two separate clamping locations to accommodate two separate conductive elements, male contact type, simultaneously.
The centering notches allow the connector to be positioned on the substrate or with respect to a suction nozzle by using positioning pins intended to penetrate at least partially into the centering notches.
