Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a cylinder head assembly and engine block for variable volumetric ratio engine whose cylinder head is common to the combustion chamber and control cylinders.
The mechanical transmission device for variable volumetric ratio engine also comprises at least one control rack cooperating with the gear wheel, means for fixing the piston on the transmission member which provide a clamping preload, connecting means which allow to stiffen the teeth of the racks, and means for strengthening and lightening the structure of the toothed wheel.
It will be noted that the cylinder block is capped with two distinct yokes: one, of a type known per se, comprises valves and their actuating system and closes the upper end of the cylinder of the variable compression ratio engine, another, specific to said engine, serves to close the upper end of the control cylinder of said engine.
It is found that this arrangement requires the realization of two separate joint planes at different heights for each of the two yokes which greatly complicates the realization of the engine compared to more conventional engines having only one joint plane.
Note also that the fixing of the cylinder head of the control cylinder requires screws whose number and resistance are at least equivalent to those required for the screws of the engine cylinder head because the total effort assumed by said screws of the cylinder head control cylinder is comparable to that assumed by the bolts of the engine cylinder head.
It is also noted that the size of the control cylinder head is such that it is difficult to accommodate the screws which fix said control cylinder head on the cylinder block. Indeed, the actuator cylinder head is placed relatively low relative to the cylinder block and the length of said screw is low which reduces their fatigue resistance by increasing the amplitude of the repeated stress to which they are subjected.
Another problem stems from the short distance between the cylinder head of the engine and the cylinder head of the control cylinder which makes it difficult to fit into the casing of the cylinder block ducts of appropriate section to ensure the return of the lubricating oil of the cylinder head of the engine to the lubricating oil sump of said engine, on the one hand, and allowing the rise of "blow-by" gases from said housing to the cylinder head on the other hand.
Finally, because of the limited vertical space available for housing the control cylinder head between the actuator (s) and the engine intake or exhaust system, it is difficult to confer on said cylinder head the cylinder has sufficient rigidity to withstand the pressure forces to which it is subjected, and to house above said cylinder head the linkage which controls the vertical position of the engine control rods.
- La rƩalisation de l'ensemble culasse - bloc moteur est simplifiƩe ce qui rƩduit son coƻt de fabrication ;
- La rigiditƩ de l'ensemble culasse - bloc moteur est amƩliorƩe ;
- Le nombre de vis nĆ©cessaire pour fermer l'extrĆ©mitĆ© supĆ©rieure du cylindre du moteur Ć rapport volumĆ©trique variable et l'extrĆ©mitĆ© supĆ©rieure du vĆ©rin de commande dudit moteur est rĆ©duit ;
- La longueur moyenne des vis de fixation de la culasse de vƩrin de commande est augmentƩe et leur rƩsistance est la fatigue est amƩliorƩe ;
- The realization of the breech assembly - engine block is simplified which reduces its manufacturing cost;
- The rigidity of the cylinder head assembly - engine block is improved;
- The number of screws required to close the upper end of the cylinder of the variable compression ratio engine and the upper end of the control cylinder of said engine is reduced;
- The average length of the control cylinder head cylinder mounting screws is increased and their resistance is improved fatigue;
- The arrangement in the crankcase of the oil recirculation and blow-by ducts is facilitated.
