- Silencer for use on a compressor, comprising a housing (13) having inlet and outlet openings (15, 19) which are connected by a flow passage extending in the housing (13) and having silencing properties, and a mounting flange (17) which surrounds the inlet opening (15) and is adapted to be connected by securing means to a flange (9) provided at the compressed-air outlet of the compressor to mount the silencer on the compressor, characterized in that the mounting flange (17) is mounted rotatably on the housing (13) of the silencer and that means are provided with which the mounting flange can be fixed in any angular position on the housing (13), on the side of the housing (13) lying opposite the mounting flange (17) an abutment plate (29) is provided and tension means connecting the abutment plate (29) to the mounting flange (17) are provided with which the mounting flange (17) and the abutment plate (29) can be braced against the housing (13) to fix them unrotatably, and that thereafter on the mounting flange (17) a tubular flange core (23) is provided which extends from the inlet opening (15) into the housing (13) and in its peripheral wall has at least one window (25) through which compressed air flowing at the inlet opening (15) into the flange core (23) can flow into the silencing flow path of the housing (13).
- Silencer according to claim 1, characterized in that on the housing (13) a circular seat (21) for the mounting flange (17) is provided.
- Silencer according to claim 1, characterized in that the tension means consist of a plurality of clamping screws which extend through the abutment plate (29), the housing (13) and the mounting flange (17).
- Silencer according to claim 1, characterized in that in the housing (13) a cylindrically curved wall (41) is formed which surrounds the tubular flange core (23) over more than half the periphery thereof spaced therefrom and together with said flange core (23) forms an annular passage (45) which takes up the compressed air flowing in through the window (25) of the tubular flange core (23) and conducts said air into the silencing flow passage of the housing.
- Silencer according to claim 4, characterized in that the annular passage (45) surrounds the tubular flange core (23) over an angle which is large enough to ensure that in every angular position of the mounting flange (17) within an angular range of 180° the window (25) of the flange core opens into the annular passage (45).
- Silencer according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that at two sides of the housing lying opposite each other two housing openings (18, 20) selectively usable as inlet opening are provided, and the mounting flange (17) can be arranged optionally at the one or other opening (18, 20) in angularly adjustable and fixable manner.
- Silencer according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the outlet opening (19) is provided on a separate housing member (47) which deflects the flow path through 90° and which is secured to the housing with securing means (49) in such a manner that it can be secured on the housing in at least two positions rotated 180° with respect to each other.
