- the present invention relates to the design and manufacture of smoke extraction apparatus and equipment which are generally associated with them. More specifically, it relates to smoke extraction apparatus of the sunroof member type which can be mounted in vertical translation on a fixed structure.
- smoke extraction devices are widely used in the building industry, in particular to evacuate fumes produced during a fire. They operate by opening a flue gas duct which is normally closed by application of the opening element on a cooperating fixed frame. It is on the roof of buildings that they are found most often, at the top of stairwells or other risers in multi-family buildings, or on the terrace above industrial buildings and public buildings. This facilitates opening because the opening element is subjected to the pressure of the hot, smoke-laden air, which tends to rise. It follows that the device can function properly in smoke extraction under the simple effect of natural convection. But the invention does not exclude other situations, nor the use of fans or other means of assistance to the flow of stale air to evacuate.
