Description

The invention relates to the field of helmets intended for aircraft pilots.

The invention particularly relates to helmets equipped with visualization equipment, such as night vision devices.

These helmets must meet several constraints related to their specific use.

In particular, these helmets must have a reduced volume and a minimum and balanced mass, having a center of gravity whose position is optimized, in order to limit the risk of injury to the driver during an emergency ejection and limit the fatigue of the driver. pilot during long-term missions.

In addition, these helmets include a visor which must protect the pilot, in flight or during an ejection.

The visor must necessarily be in the lowered position, in front of the pilot's face, during the take-off and landing phases.

During an ejection, the visor must be folded automatically to protect the face of the driver.

The visor must be locked in the down position for the helmet has a good resistance to windblast (aerodynamic shock at the time of ejection).

In addition, these helmets must be able to be used for long-term missions, which can take place both day and night. The helmets must therefore be equipped with a night vision device, a clear visor and an attempted visor.

Finally, these helmets are usually customized according to the morphology of the driver's head. In particular, the display equipment must generally be adjusted and positioned precisely according to the eyes of the pilot.

The document US 5,416,315 describes a helmet comprising a shell and a visor provided with a compact night vision device. The visor is rotatably mounted on the hull between a lowered position, in which the night vision device extends in front of the pilot's eyes, and a raised position, in which the night vision device extends over the pilot's face.

When the visor equipped with the night vision device is in the raised position, the helmet has a large footprint.

However, the space available under the cockpit canopy is generally not sufficient to allow the pilot to raise the visor equipped with the night vision device or allow mobility of the pilot's head. In addition, given the size of the visor in the raised position, the automatic folding of the visor in case of unprepared ejection, may be hindered.

The document US 5,901,369 discloses a device for fixing a visor on a helmet shell, the device being able to allow a movement of the visor with respect to the shell between a lowered position and a raised position comprising a connecting element between the visor and the shell, the connecting element being adapted to be rotatably mounted relative to the shell about a first axis of rotation and being adapted to be rotatably mounted relative to the visor about a second axis of rotation.

An object of the invention is to allow the pilot to position the visor of the helmet in the raised position (including a visor provided with a display equipment).

This problem is solved in the context of the present invention by means of a device for attaching a visor to a helmet shell, the device being able to allow movement of the visor with respect to the shell between a lowered position and a position raised, comprising a connecting element between the visor and the shell, the connecting element being adapted to be rotatably mounted relative to the shell around a first axis of rotation, and means for guiding the movement of the visor between the lowered position and the raised position, characterized in that the connecting element is further adapted to be rotatably mounted relative to the visor about a second axis of rotation.

Because the connecting member is rotatably mounted about a second axis of rotation, the movement of the visor can be guided to obtain a raised position having a small footprint.

Indeed, thanks to the second axis of rotation, the movement of the visor can be guided so that the visor tilts backwards when it is raised. This clears the pilot's face while keeping the visor close to the helmet shell.

Because, in the raised position, the visor is kept close to the helmet shell, the center of gravity of the helmet is little remote.

On the figure 1 , the helmet is shown in profile view and only part of the fixing device 300 of the visor 200 is visible However, it will be understood that the fixing device 300 of the visor 200 is symmetrical with respect to the plane of the figure (which corresponds to the sagittal plane of the pilot's head).

The fixing device 300 of the visor 200 on the shell 100 is able to allow a movement of the visor 200 relative to the shell 100 between a lowered position (shown in dashed lines) and a raised position or waiting position (shown in FIG. in solid lines).

The fixing means of the support 310 on the shell 100 will be described in more detail with reference to the figure 5 .

The connecting element 330 comprises a rod 331 extending between the support 310 and the strip 320. The rod is rotatably mounted relative to the support 310 about a first axis of rotation 332 located at a first end. of the connecting rod. On the other hand, the rod 331 is rotatably mounted relative to the strip 320 around a second axis of rotation 333 located at a second end of the rod 331 and parallel to the first axis of rotation 332. The first and second axes of rotation 332 and 333 extend in a general direction perpendicular to the plane of symmetry of the helmet.

The slide 340 is slidably mounted in a groove 140 formed in the shell 100. On LA 100 type helmets, a groove is already provided on the shell for guiding a clear visor. The groove 140 extends in the plane of symmetry of the helmet and has a general shape in an arc. The pre-existing groove 140 can be used to guide the slide. Thus the fixing device does not require modification of the shell of the helmet.

Par ailleurs, le coulisseau 340 est monté à rotation par rapport au bandeau 320 autour d'un troisième axe de rotation 343, parallèle aux premier et deuxième axes de rotation 331 et 332.Furthermore, the slider 340 is rotatably mounted relative to the strip 320 around a third axis of rotation 343, parallel to the first and second axes of rotation 331 and 332.

The connecting element 330 is arranged so that the first axis of rotation 332 is eccentric with respect to the axis 141 of the groove 140. More specifically, the first axis of rotation 332 is eccentric towards the front of the helmet.

In the down position (shown in broken lines), the visor 200 is disposed in front of the eyes of the pilot so that the pilot visualizes the outside environment through the night vision device 201.

When the pilot no longer wishes to use the night vision device 201, the pilot can raise the visor 200 to place the visor 200 above his face, in the raised position (shown in solid lines).

During the movement of the visor 200 between the lowered position and the raised position, the visor pivots around the first axis 332, which allows a release of the visor 200 relative to the pilot's face, towards the front of the helmet.

Le coulisseau 340 permet un basculement de la visière 200 vers l'arrière du casque pour maintenir la visière à proximité de la coque 100.On the other hand, the visor 200 also pivots about the second axis of rotation 333 and is guided during its movement by the slide which moves along the groove 140. The slide 340 allows a tilting of the visor 200 towards the back of the helmet to maintain the visor near the hull 100.

The fixing device 300 comprises means for locking the visor 200 in the raised position, the means being able to release the visor in case of unprepared ejection.

Such means comprise for example a calibrated spring, which when the helmet acceleration exceeds a predetermined threshold (typically 10 G), releases the visor, or an articulated system with weights able to release a locking piece.

Thus, in case of unprepared ejection, the visor 200 automatically falls down to protect the face of the driver.

The figures 3 and 4 schematically represent an aeronautical helmet according to a second embodiment of the invention.

The helmet comprises a hull 100 for protecting the head of a pilot, a visor 200 provided with a night vision device 201 and a fastener 400 of the visor 200 on the hull 100.

On the figures 3 and 4 , the helmet is shown in profile view and only part of the fixing device 400 of the visor 200 is visible. However, it will be understood that the fixing device 400 of the visor 200 is symmetrical with respect to the plane of the figures (which corresponds to the sagittal plane of the pilot's head).

The fixing device 400 of the visor 200 on the shell 100 is able to allow a movement of the visor 200 with respect to the shell 100 between a lowered position (shown in FIG. figure 3 ) and a raised position or waiting position (shown on the figure 4 ).

The fixing device 400 comprises a support 410 capable of being fixed on the shell 100, a strip 420 capable of receiving the visor 200, a first connecting element 430 between the support 410 and the strip 420 and a second connecting element 440 between the support 410 and the headband 420.

The fixing means of the support 410 on the shell 100 will be described in more detail with reference to the figure 5 .

The first and second connecting elements 430 and 440 respectively comprise a first connecting rod 431 and a second connecting rod 441 extending between the support 310 and the strip 320.

On the other hand, the connecting rod 431 is rotatably mounted relative to the strip 320 around a second axis of rotation 433 located at level of a second end of the connecting rod 431 and parallel to the first axis of rotation 432.

On the other hand, the rod 441 is rotatably mounted relative to the strip 320 around a second axis of rotation 443 located at a second end of the connecting rod 441 and parallel to the first axis of rotation 442.

Les axes de rotation 442 et 443 de la deuxième bielle 441 sont distincts des axes de rotation 432 et 433 de la première bielle 431.The axes of rotation 442 and 443 of the second connecting rod 441 are distinct from the axes of rotation 432 and 433 of the first link 431.

In addition, the first and second axes of rotation 432, 433, 442 and 443 extend in a general direction perpendicular to the plane of symmetry of the helmet.

La longueur L de la première bielle 431 est supérieure à la longueur l de la deuxième bielle 441.It is considered that the length L of the first link 431 is equal to the distance between the axes of rotation 432 and 433. It is considered that the length l of the second link 441 is equal to the distance between the axes of rotation 442 and 443. The length L of the first connecting rod 431 is greater than the length l of the second connecting rod 441.

In addition, the axes 432 and 442 are eccentric with respect to the axis 141. More specifically, the axes 432 and 442 are eccentric towards the front of the helmet.

In the down position (shown on the figure 3 ), the visor 200 is disposed in front of the eyes of the pilot so that the pilot visualizes the outside environment through the night vision device 201.

When the pilot no longer wishes to use the night-vision device 201, the pilot can raise the visor 200 to place the visor 200 above his face, in the raised position (shown in FIG. figure 4 ).

During the movement of the visor 200 between the lowered position and the raised position, the visor pivots about the first axis 432, which allows a release of the visor 200 relative to the pilot's face, towards the front of the helmet.

La deuxième bielle 441 permet un basculement de la visière 200 vers l'arrière du casque pour maintenir la visière à proximité de la coque 100.On the other hand, the visor 200 also pivots about the second axis of rotation 433 and is guided during its movement by the second link 441. The second link 441 allows a tilting of the visor 200 towards the rear of the helmet to maintain the visor near the hull 100.

The fixing device 400 comprises means for locking the visor 200 in the raised position, the means being able to release the visor in case of unprepared ejection.

In case of unprepared ejection, the visor 200 automatically drops down to protect the face of the driver.

The figure 5 schematically shows means for fixing the support 400 on a helmet shell 100.

On the figure 5 only a part of the fastening means is visible. However, it will be understood that the fixing means are symmetrical with respect to the symmetrical plane of the helmet 100 (which corresponds to the sagittal plane of the pilot's head).

The fastening means comprise a screw 401, a cylindrical pin 402, a U-shaped member 404 and a locking member 405.

Le pion 402 cylindrique est destiné à être fixé sur la coque 100 du casque par l'intermédiaire de la vis 401.The cylindrical pin 402 is intended to be fixed on the shell 100 of the helmet by means of the screw 401.

The screw 401 is adapted to be received in an orifice 101 formed in the shell 100. LA 100 type helmets, two orifices are already provided on the shell for the rotational mounting of a clear visor. These orifices can be used to fix the support 400 to the hull 100. Thus the fixing device does not require a modification of the hull of the helmet.

The pin 402 has a radial groove 403 for receiving the U-shaped element 404. The U-shaped element 404 is adapted to receive between its two branches the pin 402.

The locking member 405 is rotatably mounted relative to the U-shaped member 404 and is adapted to engage the U-shaped member 404 to hold the pin 402 between the legs of the U.

The fixing means of the support 400 on the shell 100 further comprise a fastening element 407 adapted to be inserted into a groove 140 of the shell 100.

The support 400 is therefore able to be fixed at three points on the shell of the helmet.

The supports 300 and 400 are completely independent of the shell of the helmet. In the case of a type LA 100, these supports can be fixed without modifying the shell of the helmet, which allows to equip the helmet with the device of the invention while preserving the integrity of the hull.
