Abstract

The invention relates to a suspension device for bed-base slats which is formed by an end-piece which has an upper portion which comprises at least one receptacle to receive the end of a slat, a lower portion which is provided with means for anchoring the said end-piece to a bed frame, and an intermediate portion which comprises suspension members which connect the lower portion to the upper portion. The suspension members comprise at least one longitudinal wall which is able to fold at a substantially longitudinally extending fold line, and at least one transverse wall which is able to fold at a substantially transversely extending fold line.

Claims (16)

  1. Device for suspending bed-base slats, formed by an end-piece (10, 100, 200) which has an upper portion (12, 112) which comprises at least one receptacle (14, 16, 114, 116) to receive the end of a slat, a lower portion (18, 118) provided with means (22, 24, 162, 164, 290) for anchoring the said end-piece (10, 100, 200) to a bed frame, and an intermediate portion (20) comprising suspension members (34, 36, 38, 134, 136, 138) which connect the lower portion (18, 118) to the upper portion (12, 112), characterised in that the suspension members (34, 36, 38, 134, 136, 138) comprise at least one longitudinal wall (38, 138) which is capable of folding at at least one substantially longitudinally extending fold line (44), and a pair of transverse walls (34, 36, 134, 136) which are capable of folding at a substantially transversely extending fold line (40, 42), and in that the longitudinal wall (38, 138) is arranged substantially between the two transverse walls (34, 36, 134, 136).
  2. Suspension device according to claim 1, characterised in that, when seen in the transverse direction of the end-piece (10, 100, 200), the span of the longitudinal wall (38, 138), when it is folded or unfolded, is substantially equal to or slightly smaller than the width of the lower portion (18, 118).
  3. Suspension device according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that, when seen in the transverse direction of the end-piece (10, 100, 200), the width of each of the transverse walls (34, 36, 134, 136) is substantially equal to or slightly smaller than the width of the lower portion (18, 118).
  4. Suspension device according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that, when seen in the transverse direction of the end-piece (10, 100, 200), the longitudinal wall (38, 138) comprises at least one angled portion (46, 146) in such a way as to define the fold line.
  5. Suspension device according to claim 4, characterised in that the angled portion (46, 146) is so orientated as to open towards the outside of the bed frame.
  6. Suspension device according to claim 4 or 5, characterised in that the longitudinal wall (38, 138) also comprises a second angled portion (147) which defines a second fold line (149), the said portion (147) being so orientated that it opens towards the inside of the bed frame.
  7. Device according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that, when projected orthogonally onto a reference plane parallel to the slat, the fold line (44, 144, 149) in the longitudinal wall (38, 138) is curved.
  8. Device according to any one of claims 1 to 7, characterised in that, when projected orthogonally onto a reference plane parallel to the slat, the fold line (40, 42) in the transverse wall (34, 36, 134, 136) is curved.
  9. Suspension device according to any one of claims 1 to 8, characterised in that the upper portion (12, 112) comprises two receptacles (14, 16, 114, 116) to receive the ends of two slats.
  10. Suspension device according to claim 9, characterised in that the longitudinal wall (38, 138) also comprises two upper arms (153, 155) which are connected each to a respective one of the receptacles (14, 16, 114, 116).
  11. Suspension device according to claim 9 or 10,
    characterised in that the longitudinal wall (38, 138) further comprises two lower arms (161, 163) which are connected to the lower portion (18, 118).
  12. Device according to claim 9 and any one of claims 1 to 11, characterised in that a supporting platform (32) for a mattress is arranged above the two receptacles (14, 16, 114, 116) .
  13. Device according to claim 9 and any one of claims 1 to 11, characterised in that each of the receptacles (114, 116) comprises an extension (114a, 116a) which forms a supporting portion for a mattress.
  14. Device according to any one of claims 1 to 13, characterised in that the lower portion (18, 118) further comprises an additional receptacle (26, 270) to receive the end of a lower slat (280).
  15. Device according to any one of claims 1 to 14, characterised in that the anchoring means (22, 24, 162, 164, 290) comprise at least one spigot (290) which is intended to fit into a hole made in the bed frame.
  16. Device according to any one of claims 1 to 15, characterised in that the anchoring means (22, 24, 162, 164, 290) comprise at least one sleeve (22, 24, 162, 164) to be fixed to a spigot (166) secured to the bed frame.
