Abstract

L'invention concerne un dispositif pour faire fonctionner ou allumer une lampe à décharge à haute pression (10). Ce dispositif présente un moyen de commutation (131) qui est lié à la tension et qui sert à générer la tension d'allumage pour la lampe à décharge à haute pression (10), la tension de seuil de commutation de ce moyen étant supérieure ou égale à la tension d'allumage de la lampe à décharge à haute pression (10). L'invention concerne également un procédé correspondant. L'invention permet d'obtenir un allumage par impulsion de la lampe à décharge à haute pression (10) sans utilisation d'un transformateur d'allumage. Le dispositif d'allumage par impulsion ou le procédé selon l'invention peuvent être associés de façon avantageuse avec le mode de fonctionnement haute fréquence de la lampe à décharge à haute pression (10), en particulier d'une lampe à décharge à haute pression d'un phare de véhicule.
