Abstract

 本発明のネマチック液晶組成物は、第一成分として、一般式(I) 【化1】 で表される化合物を1種又は2種以上含有しその含有率が10から80質量%であり、 第二成分として、一般式(II) 【化2】 で表される化合物を1種又は2種以上含有しその含有率が20から70質量%であり、誘電率異方性が負であることを特徴とする。このネマチック液晶組成物を用いることにより、高温域まで高い電圧保持率を維持でき、セルギャップを薄くすることなく高速応答化が可能な、信頼性に優れた液晶表示素子を提供することができる。
