Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a share or blade for a snowplough comprising at least one outer layer arranged on an inner core.
  • the invention also relates to a snowplough fitted with such blades.
  • a snowplough blade is a wearing part which is screw ⁇ ed to an attachment plate of a snowplough.
  • a plurality of short blades are arranged side by side to cover the entire plough width.
  • the blades are often made entirely of rubber or polyurethane.
  • they can also be built as a sandwich construction.
  • An example of such a snowplough blade is disclosed in DE-C-3, 404, 030 and consists of a rubber or plastic body, which on both sides is covered with steel plates.
  • a wear-resistant member of corundum is embedded in the body.
  • a drawback of this sandwich con ⁇ struction is that the hard steel wears down the roadways and tends to damage or raise well covers and the like.
  • the object of the present invention therefore is to provide a blade which is improved compared with prior-art snowplough blades.
  • a special object is to provide a blade with a long life, which can be used also at places where sparking is not allowed.
  • An object of the present invention is also to pro ⁇ vide a snowplough blade which is easy to be disposed of once it has worn out.
  • the outer layer is made essentially of plastic material and the inner core essen ⁇ tially of elastomeric material. With this construction, a stable blade with good wear resistance is ensured.
  • the inner core there is a fastening means for fastening at least one wear-resistant member arranged in the core.
  • the wear-resistant member increases the wear resistance of the blade, and the fastening means makes it possible for the wear-resistant member to be more reliably held in the blade and the load displacements to be better con ⁇ trolled.
  • the blade comprises two such outer layers, which are arranged on opposite sides of the inner core. This improves the stability and strength of the blade.
  • the plastic material in the outer layer is prefer- ably polycarbonate plastic, which ensures good rigidity.
  • the elastomeric material is advantageously polyure- thane, which has good wear resistance and is easy to shape as desired.
  • the wear-resistant member is preferably made of a ceramic material. Ceramic materials have high wear resis ⁇ tance and are easy to shape as required.
  • the fastening means may comprise a rib extending along a length of the blade and provided with projec ⁇ tions, between which said at least one wear-resistant member is arranged.
  • This is a mechanically simple way of fastening the wear-resistant member in the blade.
  • the blade advantageously comprises a plurality of said wear-resistant members, the wear-resistant members being arranged in an abutment surface of the blade, which abutment surface is adapted, in use, to abut against a ⁇ ground surface, and the wear-resistant members having such a shape and being arranged in such a manner relative to each other that in a travelling direction of the snow- plough they overlap each other at least partly.
  • the wear- resistant members are thus held more safely in the blade and the risk of snow swaths is reduced.
  • the wear-resistant members can in the plane of the abutment surface be trapezoidal, rhomboid or T-shaped to provide the desired overlap.
  • the inventive snowplough comprises at least one inventive blade. This makes the snowplough stable and resistant to wear.
  • Fig. 1 is a perspective view of part of an inventive snowplough
  • Fig. 2 is a side view of the snowplough part in Fig. 1,
  • Fig. 3 is a perspective view of an inventive snow- plough blade
  • Fig. 4 is a sectional view of the snowplough blade in Fig. 3
  • Fig. 5 illustrates a fastening means for fastening wear-resistant members in the blade in Fig. 4, and
  • Figs ⁇ a-c are top plan views of different embodi ⁇ ments of wear-resistant members in the blade in Fig. 4. Description of Preferred Embodiments
  • the snowplough 1 partly shown in Fig. 1 has a plough plate 2 and three snowplough blades 3 screwed to the plough plate 2. As shown in Figs 2 and 3, there are through holes 4 in the upper part of the blade 3 for fas ⁇ tening by means of screw joints 5.
  • the blade 3 consists, as can be seen most easily from the section in Fig. 4, of a sandwich construction with two outer layers 6 on an inner core 7.
  • the outer layers 6 consist of plastic material and the inner core 7 of elastomeric material.
  • a plurality of wear-resistant members 8 are embedded to increase the resistance to wear of the blade 3.
  • a fastening means in the form of a rib 9.
  • the rib 9 extends along the length of the blade 3 and has projections 10, between which fit the wear-resistant mem ⁇ bers 8.
  • the rib 9 controls the positioning of the wear- resistant members 8 in manufacture of the blade 3 and also controls the distribution of forces when using the blade 3.
  • a tubular piece 11 extending therethrough is used.
  • Figs ⁇ a-c illustrate different examples of the appearance of the wear-resistant members 8. These exam ⁇ ples illustrate the shape of the wear-resistant members 8 in the plane of the abutment surface 12.
  • the abutment surface 12 is the surface of the blade 3 which in use of the snowplough 1 abuts against the ground surface 13, as shown in Fig. 2.
  • the wear-resistant members 8 have such a shape and are arranged in such a manner relative to each other that in the travelling direction R of the snowplough 1 they part- Iy overlap each other. This reduces the existence of snow swaths which otherwise form between the wear-resistant members 8 when the elastomeric material between them has worn off.
  • the desired overlap can be provided by the wear-resistant members 8 in the plane of the abutment surface 12 being trapezoidal, as shown in Fig. 6a, and placed side by side alternately with a short side or a long side in the travelling direction R.
  • the desired overlap can also be provided by the wear-resistant mem ⁇ bers being given a rhomboid shape, as shown in Fig. 6b.
  • Fig. ⁇ c shows wear-resistant members 8 which in the plane of the abutment surface 12 are T-shaped. This is a some- what more complicated shape, which on the other hand ensures improved locking of the wear-resistant members 8 in the inner core 7.
  • the wear-resistant members can also have other shapes, for instance rectangular as in Fig.
  • the wear-resistant members 8 can also be cylindrical with a circular shape in the plane of the abutment surface 12. In this way, sharp corners, which may cause stress con ⁇ centrations, are avoided.
  • the wear-resistant members 8 extend, as is to be seen in Fig. 4, all the way to the abutment surface 12 and have an end face which is paral- IeI to the abutment surface 12.
  • the blade 3 can, however, also be designed so that the wear-resistant members 8 from the beginning are completely embedded in the core 7 and are not uncovered in the abutment surface 12 until the blade 3 has worn down somewhat.
  • the end face of the wear-resistant members 8 can also make an angle greater than zero to the abutment surface 12.
  • the plastic material of the outer layers ⁇ is in the shown example polycarbonate plastic (PC) .
  • PC polycarbonate plastic
  • Polycarbonate plastic is kinder to the roadway than the steel that is used in prior-art sandwich blades.
  • polycar ⁇ bonate plastic is better at absorbing shocks and impacts than steel. As a result, a smoother action is ensured.
  • the elastomeric material of the inner core 7 is in the shown example polyurethane (PU) . Also other plastic and elastomeric materials can be used for the outer layers 6 and the inner core 7, respec ⁇ tively. Instead of polyurethane, for instance natural rubber can be used.
  • the plastic of the outer layers 6 gives the blade the necessary stability and the elasto- meric material of the inner core 7 provides resistance to wear. Since the outer layers 6 are made of plastic, there will be no sparking as the snowplough travels over the ground surface 13, which means that snowploughs 1 with such blades 3 can be used also at airports and other places where sparking is not allowed.
  • the inventive blade 3 consists of plastic and elastomeric material it is easier to be disposed of once it has worn out.
  • the material can be burnt and the energy used for heating.
  • the wear-resistant members 8 are suitably made of a ceramic material, but other wear-resistant materials are also conceivable, such as corundum or steel.
  • the tubular piece 11 is preferably made of plastic. It may also be made of metal but must in that case be removed before the worn-out blade 3 is burnt.
  • the tubular piece 11 can also be excluded or replaced by a washer, such as a terminal cup washer.
  • the number of wear-resistant members 8 in the inner core 7 of the blade 3 is not decisive.
  • the blade 3 can also be made entirely without wear-resistant members, but this would reduce its resistance to wear.
  • the blade 3 can also be made with only one outer layer 6, preferably arranged on the front side of the blade 3 in the travelling direction R.
