Definitions
- the present invention relates generally to the field of gas burners for domestic cooking appliances, and more specifically relates to improvements made to gas burners comprising a burner pot supporting a burner body having at least one assembly flames orifices distributed peripherally, a gas injector and a gas supply tube, provided with a flange, being connected to said burner pot.
- Gas burners of the type concerned are commonly used in domestic cooking appliances (stoves, hobs).
- currently manufactured burners have various disadvantages or disadvantages both structural and cost.
- the injector and the feed tube are each secured to the burner pot by screwing.
- the bottom of the pot is provided with a tapped central orifice adapted to receive the gas injector which itself is externally threaded at least over a portion of its height.
- the machining of a threaded orifice in the material constituting the burner pot generally of the cast aluminum, causes a removal of the surface annealing at least in certain locations (chips) on the edge of the orifice, these splinters showing the porous material underlying. This results in a significant proportion (20 to 30%) of burner pots that must be discarded.
- the burner pot is provided with another orifice adapted to receive a connection piece mounted by screwing.
- the invention is essentially intended to meet, at least in part, the requirements of the practice and to provide an improved gas burner structure of the aforementioned type which leads to simplified manufacturing and easy assembly, and which consequently results in significant financial savings in regarding the manufacture and assembly of these burners.
- the invention proposes a gas burner as mentioned in the preamble which is characterized, being arranged according to the invention, by the combination of the following provisions:
- the burner pot has a bottom provided with a central orifice with a smooth wall
- the injector is screwed, from above the bottom of the burner pot, into the end of the feed tube, and
- the injector is arranged to push the wall of the end of the supply tube sealingly against the wall of the orifice.
- a gas burner arranged in accordance with the provisions of the invention has many advantages.
- the orifice provided in the bottom of the burner pot is provided with a smooth-faced wall considerably simplifies manufacture. Indeed, the orifice can be obtained by simply stamping the bottom of the burner pot, by implementing a known technique that is effective with the material constituting the burner pot. It is thus possible to form a clean-walled orifice with an undamaged edge, without splinters, and having the required diameter with sufficient accuracy. In addition, because of the quality obtained during the formation of the single orifice, there are almost no more defective parts: the rate of production of parts correct is considerably increased and the economic gain is very important.
- the injector in the end of the supply tube leads to these two components being secured simultaneously to the burner pot through the same orifice. It is therefore necessary to provide a single orifice, which exempts the forming operation of the second orifice required in the conventional structure of the burner.
- the assembly process is remarkably simplified: fitting the end of the feed tube into the orifice, followed by screwing the injector into the end of said tube is not only sufficient to fix these two components to the burner pot, but also to achieve automatically, during screwing, the tightness of this assembly.
- the flange is integral with the feed tube and formed by pleating the wall of said tube.
- a tube having an end thus formed is more economical than conventionally adopted solutions, with providing and securing an outer collar.
- a feed tube is used that is bent, in particular substantially at 90 °, and the bending operation of the feed tube can be carried out jointly with the operation of formation of the collar.
- the injector is externally frustoconical at least in part.
- the part of the injector which is located above its threaded portion, between the latter and the head of the injector which is frustoconical.
- the end portion of the end of the feed tube extending beyond the collar has a length substantially equal to the thickness of the bottom of the burner pot.
- the end of the feed tube it can be internally threaded while the injector is provided with a standard thread, or, more economically and thus preferably, the internal face of the wall.
- the end of the tube remains smooth while the injector is equipped with a self-tapping thread.
- the gas burner illustrated in the figure conventionally comprises a burner pot 2 arranged to be fixed on a support belonging to the cooking appliance, generally a top plate of this appliance (In the illustrated example, the burner pot 2 is attached to a tray-shaped portion 3 of said top plate 4, overhanging the remainder of the plate).
- a burner pot On this burner pot rests, by feet 5 (only one foot is visible in the figure), a burner body 6 provided, on its upper edge, notches distributed peripherally.
- a cap 7 which closes the above notches to form flames orifices 8.
- the burner pot 2 is arranged with a bottom 9 of substantially flat general shape, but this configuration is not related to the characteristic features of the invention which will be explained below.
- the bottom 9 of the burner pot 2 is provided with a smooth-walled central bore or hole 10, which may be formed by stamping the bottom.
- a gas supply tube 11 has its end fitted without significant play, that is to say with a game strictly necessary for the introduction, from below the bottom 9 of the burner pot 2, into the orifice 10
- the tube 11 is provided with a collar 12 which limits the introduction of the end of the feed tube 11 into the orifice 10, which collar 12 bears against the bottom face of the bottom 9.
- An injector 13, partially externally threaded at 15, is screwed, by the top of the bottom 9 of the burner pot 2, into the end of the feed tube 11.
- the end of the feed tube 11 there are many ways to equip the end of the feed tube 11 with a flange.
- the simplest and most economical solution in practice is that the flange 12 is integral with the feed tube 11 and formed of a pleating of the wall of said tube 11 according to a known technique.
- the injector 13, meanwhile, is arranged to push the wall of the end of the feed tube 11 against the smooth wall of the orifice 10 to establish therewith a gas-tight contact.
- various provisions known to those skilled in the art are likely to be implemented.
- the injector is externally frustoconical at least in part; in particular, as illustrated in the figure, the frustoconical portion 14 of the injector 13 is located above its threaded portion 15, between the latter and the head 16 of the injector.
- the frustoconical portion 14 comes into contact with the edge of the tube 11 and spreads it radially by forcing it against the smooth wall of the orifice 10 of the bottom 9 of the burner pot. This makes a tight assembly without additional parts and without any other manipulation than the screwing of the injector.
- the end of the feed tube 11 may be threaded internally to receive the injector, or preferably, because of the simplicity of the lower cost of this technical solution, the injector may be provided with a thread self-tapping clean to be screwed into the end of the inner smooth feed tube.
- this arrangement of the invention will be easier if, as illustrated in the figure, the end portion 17 of the end of the feed tube which extends beyond the flange 12 has a length substantially equal to the thickness of the central portion of the bottom 9 of the burner pot.
- this central portion of the bottom 9 of the burner pot can be made thicker than the rest of the bottom, for example by providing a plateau-shaped allowance 18 as shown in the figure, to strengthen the bottom 9 and / or to provide a height of support of the tube on the wall of the orifice 10 sufficient to obtain safely The necessary sealing and / or stalling the injector in a correct vertical position with respect to the burner body 6.
- the tube 11 may be bent, especially substantially 90 °, under the flange.
- the formation of the integral flange 12 and the folding of the tube can be conducted in a single operation.
- a gas burner of the usual type with a minimum number of components (only three components for the lower part of the burner) is produced and the assembly of these components is carried out with simple manipulations and in reduced numbers.
- Such a gas burner is therefore likely to be manufactured under particularly favorable economic conditions.
