Description

The present invention relates to a format adapter sleeve for a rotary press, of the type comprising an outer surface.

In a rotary press, the circumferential length of the printing plate is a parameter determining the print length of the product to be printed. In order to increase the flexibility of the press, it is necessary to allow a variation of printing length or a variation of format.

In order to change the circumferential length of a cylinder having a fixed radius in a press, open matching sleeves having different thicknesses may be mounted on a hub. Such a sleeve is for example disclosed in the application W02005 / 014286 of the Applicant.

The document DE-A-10 2004 032645 shows a conventional format adapter sleeve.

The realization of a tension mechanism intended to tension such an open sleeve around a cylindrical hub is complex because of the need to prevent the head and tail edges of the sleeve from being lifted from the hub under the effect the tension force.

It is also known to expand an adapter sleeve closed by an air cushion so as to mount it on the hub of the press. However, the expansion of a closed sleeve requires a very high pressure or involves the use of a sleeve both elastic and incompressible, which are properties of generally incompatible material.

This is why the invention aims to overcome the disadvantages mentioned and to provide an adapter sleeve that is easy to mount on the hub.

For this purpose, the subject of the invention is an adapter sleeve of the type indicated, characterized in that in the unmounted state of the adapter sleeve, the outer surface of the adapter sleeve is frustoconical.

  • le manchon d'adaptation comporte une rainure axiale dans sa surface extérieure, rainure qui est adaptée pour recevoir les bords de tête et de queue d'une plaque d'impression ;

The invention further relates to an assembly of a hub of a cylinder of a rotary press and an adapter sleeve, characterized in that the adapter sleeve is an adapter sleeve as defined above. above, in that the hub has a frustoconical outer surface, and that the conicities of the outer surface of the hub and the inner surface of the unmounted adapter sleeve of the adapter sleeve on the hub are such that in the mounted state of the adapter sleeve on the hub, the outer surface of the adapter sleeve is cylindrical.

The invention will be better understood on reading the description which follows, given solely by way of example and with reference to the appended drawings, in which:
  • the Figure 1 is a schematic perspective view of an assembly of a sleeve and a hub according to the invention;
  • the Figure 2A is an axial sectional view of the whole of the Figure 1 and a printing plate;

  • the Figure 4 is a view similar to that of the Figure 2A , during mounting of the adapter sleeve on the hub.

Sur la Figure 1 est représenté un ensemble selon l'invention, désigné par la référence générale 2.On the Figure 1 is represented an assembly according to the invention, designated by the general reference 2.

L'ensemble 2 comporte un moyeu 4 d'une presse rotative et un manchon d'adaptation 6.The assembly 2 comprises a hub 4 of a rotary press and an adapter sleeve 6.

The hub 4 extends along a central axis X-X and is connected to unrepresented rotary drive means, such as an electric motor.

The hub 4 has an outer surface 8 which has a frustoconical shape of rotational symmetry about the axis XX. Thus, the hub 4 forms a small diameter end 10 and a large diameter end 12. As shown in FIG. Figure 2A a generatrix 14 of the outer surface 8 is inclined at an angle α with respect to the axis XX. This angle α is for example between 3 minutes and 1 degree.

The adapter sleeve 6 is a closed sleeve around its periphery. The adapter sleeve extends along a central axis Y-Y, which in the mounted state coincides with the X-X axis.

The adapter sleeve 6 is made of a conventional material sufficiently elastic at least in its circumferential direction, such as a plastic material or a composite material. The material is, for example, glass fiber impregnated with resin.

In a variant, the adapter sleeve 6 is made of a material that is not very elastic, such as metal made expandable by a series of through slots parallel to its axis. In this case, the stiffness of the sleeve at the extension is regulated by the number of slots executed on its periphery. This same principle can be applied to a non-metallic material.

La surface intérieure 18 est, à l'état non monté du manchon d'adaptation 6, cylindrique à section circulaire autour de l'axe central Y-Y.As this is visible on the Figure 3A , the adapter sleeve 6 has an outer surface 16 and an inner surface 18. The outer surface 16 has, in the unmounted state of the sleeve 6 on the hub 4, a frustoconical shape centered on the central axis YY of the adapter sleeve 6. The inner surface 18 is, in the unmounted state of the adapter sleeve 6, cylindrical with a circular section around the central axis YY.

La valeur de cet angle β est identique à l'angle α, mais le sens d'inclinaison est l'inverse de celui de l'angle α.The generatrix 20 of the outer surface 16 is inclined relative to the central axis Y-Y of an angle β. The value of this angle β is identical to the angle α, but the direction of inclination is the inverse of that of the angle α.

Thus, the sleeve 6 defines in the unassembled state a small outer diameter end 22 and a large outer diameter end 24.

This groove 26 is adapted to receive the leading edges 28 and tail 30 of a printing plate 32. As can be seen on the Figure 1 and the Figure 2A in cross-section, the axial groove 26 has a shape with an undercut in the radial direction, and is in this case dovetail-shaped, the widened portion being directed towards the central axis YY.

In the example shown, the axial groove 26 has an identical cross section over its entire axial length, but alternatively, the axial groove 26 has a width which increases from one of its axial ends to the other, in order to facilitate the inserting the edges 28, 30 of the printing plate 32 into the groove 26.

This locating means comprises a recess 34 which is open towards the axis YY and towards the end 22 and which is disposed at this end 22.

On the Figure 2A is represented the hub 4, the sleeve 6 and the printing plate 32 in the mounted state.

La surface extérieure 16 du manchon d'adaptation 6 est cylindrique à section circulaire autour de l'axe central X-X.The adapter sleeve 6 is elastically deformed by the hub 4, so that the inner surface 18 of the adapter sleeve 6 has a conicity which is identical to that of the outer surface 8 of the hub 4. The outer surface 16 of the adapter sleeve 6 is cylindrical with a circular section around the central axis XX.

The axial end 24 of large diameter of the adapter sleeve 6 is directed towards the small diameter axial end 10 of the hub 4 and the small diameter end 22 of the adapter sleeve 6 is directed towards the large end. Thus, the hub 4 deforms the adapter sleeve 6 so that the outer surface 16 of the sleeve takes on its cylindrical shape.

The method of mounting the adapter sleeve 6 on the hub 4 will be explained later.

Initialement, le manchon d'adaptation 6 est à l'état non monté, tel que montré sur les figures 3A et 3B.Initially, the adapter sleeve 6 is in the unassembled state, as shown on the Figures 3A and 3B .

First, the small diameter end 22 of the sleeve 6 is aligned with the small diameter end 10 of the hub 4. Then, the printing plate 32 is threaded onto the adapter sleeve 6. Then the all of the adapter sleeve 6 and the printing plate 32 is axially threaded onto the hub 4. The axial force required depends on the conicity of the hub 4, the stiffness of the sleeve 6, the coefficient of friction between the two external surfaces 8 and inner 18. The smaller the conicity of the outer surface 8, the easier the mounting.

The adapter sleeve 6 is threaded onto the hub 4 until all of its inner surface 18 is in contact with the outer surface 8 of the hub 4. Thus, the outer surface of the sleeve 6 becomes cylindrical. By continuing the depression of the sleeve 6 on the hub 8, its outer diameter increases. This tends the printing plate.

Un tel dispositif peut être par exemple constitué d'un système vis et écrou axial agissant sur un flasque rendu solidaire du manchon 6.The axial force required for the fitting and extraction of the adapter sleeve 6 can be obtained by a mechanism not shown disposed on the hub 4, or, alternatively, by a mechanism disposed on the rotary press. Such a device may consist for example of an axial screw and nut system acting on a flange secured to the sleeve 6.

In another variant, the adapter hub 6 and the hub 4 may be blanket cylinders.
