Definitions
- the invention relates to a grinding device according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the document DE 38 19 918 C2 discloses a sander for grinding or resharpening knives.
- This grinder comprises two very narrow, in close proximity to each other arranged, rotatable grinding wheels, which rotate in the same direction, and which consist of coated with emery powder metal discs.
- This sander has the disadvantages that it is difficult to sharpen a longer blade evenly, that there is a risk that steps are ground into a blade, and that the blade can not be ground close to the handle.
- the dependent claims 2 to 11 relate to further, advantageously configured grinding equipment.
- the object is achieved in particular with a grinding device with two rotatable grinding wheels and with a drive motor for driving the grinding wheels, wherein the grinding wheels are configured as coated with an abrasive base wheels and wherein the grinding wheels along their peripheral surface thread-shaped grooves and webs, and wherein the grinding wheels are arranged in spatial proximity to each other, that the webs and grooves of the two grinding wheels engage with each other.
- the inventive grinding device has the advantage that knives can be provided with an unusually good finish.
- the meshing of the webs and grooves has the advantage that the grinding wheels form a relatively deep and defined designed grinding surface in the direction of the axis of rotation, so that the knife can be sharpened accurately and reproducibly.
- the thread-like extending webs and grooves have the advantage that the webs seemingly move in the course of rotation of the axis of rotation during rotation, so that these webs exert a grinding effect in the direction of the axis of rotation or in the direction of the blade. This causes a particularly good, reproducible cut.
- the grinding wheel consists of a metallic base wheel whose peripheral surface is coated with an abrasive, preferably Borozon.
- Borozon has the advantage that it has a hardness similar to diamond, that its grains are relatively small, for example 9 hundredths of a millimeter, and that borozon does not become dull because refractive grains retain their sharpness.
- the surface of the base wheel is preferably with a layer of grains coated so that the total layer thickness is less than 1 millimeter.
- the use of such a thin-layer, durable abrasive has the advantage that it is hardly worn during the grinding, with the result that the geometry of the peripheral surfaces of the grinding wheels, on which the grinding takes place hardly changed. Therefore, these grinding wheels do not have to be constantly redelivered because their diameter does not change during the grinding operation.
- the grinder is therefore easy to use and requires only a small amount of maintenance.
- the geometry of the cut shape is reproducible for a long time.
- Borozon also has the advantage that it can be ground dry without liquid.
- Another advantage of the inventive grinding machine is that the grinding wheels with high speed of 1'000 to 10'000 revolutions per minute are operable, what a speed of movement of the webs and grooves in the direction of the axis of rotation, depending on the pitch angle and the speed of between 10 and 100 meters per minute. This high speed of movement makes it possible to provide a blade in the longitudinal direction with an exceptionally uniform grinding.
- the webs and grooves extending along the circumferential surface of the grinding wheel can be configured as single threads or as multiple threads. Preferably, a double thread is used.
- the web and groove of a multiple thread have a higher pitch, which has a correspondingly higher speed of movement of webs and grooves in the direction of the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel result.
- FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of an embodiment of the grinding device 1.
- a bearing plate 3 is arranged in which a first grinding wheel 4 and a second grinding wheel 5 are rotatably mounted about a first axis 6 and a second axis 7.
- the grinding wheels 4, 5 have an opposite direction of rotation 4a, 5a, an end face 4i, 5i and circumferential surfaces 4k, 5k, which, as shown in FIG. 3, are provided with thread-shaped webs 4d, 5d and grooves 4c, 5c.
- the grinding wheels 4, 5 are, as shown in Figure 2, connected to a corresponding first and second gear 8, 9, which are driven by an electric motor 12 and a gear wheel 11 and a drive belt 10.
- a first V-shaped slot 13 is inserted, for receiving the blade of a knife.
- the grinding device 1 comprises a second bearing plate 15, in which a second V-shaped slot 14 is inserted.
- a polishing pad 16 is arranged, which is connected directly to the rotary shaft of the electric motor 12.
- the grinding device 1 comprises a take-off device 17, with inlet openings 17a, 17b and a discharge opening 17c, via which air is drawn off, so that particles released during grinding are sucked off via the inlet openings 17a, 17b.
- FIG. 3 shows the two grinding wheels 4, 5 in a plan view in detail.
- Both grinding wheels 4, 5 have thread-shaped grooves 4c, 5c and webs 4d, 5d on their circumferential surfaces 4k, 5k.
- the axis of rotation 6,7 of the two grinding wheels 4,5 are parallel.
- the grinding wheels 4, 5 are arranged in spatial proximity to one another such that the webs 4d of the first grinding wheel 4 engage in the grooves 5c of the second grinding wheel 5, and conversely that the webs 5d of the second grinding wheel 5 enter the grooves 4c of the first grinding wheel 4 intervention.
- a relatively deep or wide and defined designed grinding edge S is formed in the direction of rotation of the axes of rotation 6.7.
- the depth or width of the grinding edge S corresponds to the width of the grinding wheel 4, 5 in the direction of progression of the axis of rotation 6, 7.
- the grooves 4c, 5c and webs 4d, 5d are formed on the circumferential surface 4k, 5k, as a double thread.
- the grooves and webs could also be configured as a single or multi-wax thread.
- the pitch of the grooves 4c, 5c and webs 4d, 5d determines, together with the rotational speed of the grinding wheels 4, 5, the speed with which the webs 4d, 5d move along the grinding edge S in the direction B.
- This direction of movement of the webs 4d, 5d has the advantage that a blade resting against the grinding edge S experiences a continuous grinding along the grinding edge S, which results in a blade which is sharpened particularly uniformly.
- the webs 4d, 5d, depending on the Speed of the grinding wheels 4,5 is moved in the direction B at a speed in the range between 10 and 100 meters per minute.
- the webs 4d, 5d and grooves 4c, 5c are preferably designed in such a way and immerse one another in such a way that the running in the direction of the axes of rotation 6,7 grinding edge S is rectilinear and without a discontinuity.
- the requirement that there be no discontinuity is of particular importance at high speeds of the webs 4d in the direction of movement B, since if there is a discontinuity along the grinding edge S there is a risk that the blade edge of the blade will be caught by the web 4d, 5d, and could be pulled in the direction of movement B at said speed. Since this speed is relatively high at 10 to 100 meters per minute, a manually held while grinding knife can be beaten out of hand, which should be avoided.
- the grinding device 1 according to the invention with high-speed grinding wheels 4, 5 can thus be operated in the long term with low maintenance and safety.
- FIG. 4 shows an end view of the first grinding wheel 4, which has a double thread on the circumferential surface 4k, thus having two grooves 4c and webs 4d extending in the circumferential direction.
- the first groove 4c is shown on the right and starts at the position indicated by 4e, and is fully formed with respect to its width at the point indicated 4m.
- the second groove is on the left 4f, begins at the point indicated by 4f, and is fully formed in the position indicated by 4l with respect to its width.
- the points 4l and 4m are rounded so that there is no discontinuity on the peripheral surface 4k despite the existing groove 4c.
- Figure 5 shows a longitudinal section through the first grinding wheel 4 along the section line A-A, wherein the end face 4i is right.
- the web 4d on the end face 4i has a rounded point 4g or an inlet radius R, so that no discontinuities occur in the entry area along the grinding edge S.
- Figure 6 shows in a perspective view the second grinding wheel 5, with two webs 5d and two grooves 5c, wherein the beginning of the first / second groove is denoted by 5e / 5f.
- the beginning of these grooves 5e / 5f or the end of the webs 5l / 5m is designed such that during rotation of the grinding wheels 4,5 on their front side 4i, 5i or along the grinding edge S no discontinuity results, so there is no danger that a blade to be ground at the transition point from the end face 4i, 5i to the peripheral surface 5k undergoes a blow.
- the end face 4i, 5i is advantageously also coated with an abrasive. This arrangement has the advantage that a blade can be ground directly to shank.
- the grinding wheel 4, 5 preferably has a diameter in the range between 30 mm and 200 mm, and a depth in the direction of the axis of rotation 6, 7 in the range between 10 mm and 100 mm.
- Inexpensive grinding machines could have grinding wheels 4, 5 having a diameter in the range between 30 mm and 60 mm.
- FIG. 7 shows a detailed view of a further embodiment of webs 4d and grooves 4c.
- the webs 4d have a rounded, also referred to as cambered surface 4h.
- the cambered surface 4h has the advantage that the surface acting on the blade, compared to the embodiment shown in Figure 5, is smaller, with the result that the blade during grinding finer, that is, with less force, along the grinding wheels 4.5 can be performed.
- a transparent cover is arranged above the grinding wheels 4, 5 such that a knife to be ground can be accommodated between the grinding wheels 4, 5 and the cover, and can be moved back and forth smoothly.
- the cover prevents sanding dust from spreading uncontrollably.
- the transparent cover allows a clear view of the blade to be ground, in particular the grinding point, during grinding. Compared with grinding devices which use a wet grinding method, the inventive grinding device thus also has the advantage that the grinding point is visible during grinding, which increases the quality of the produced grinding.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a grinding device according to the preamble of
This sander has the disadvantages that it is difficult to sharpen a longer blade evenly, that there is a risk that steps are ground into a blade, and that the blade can not be ground close to the handle.
It is therefore an object of the invention to form a more advantageous grinding device. This object is achieved with a grinding device having the features of
The
The object is achieved in particular with a grinding device with two rotatable grinding wheels and with a drive motor for driving the grinding wheels, wherein the grinding wheels are configured as coated with an abrasive base wheels and wherein the grinding wheels along their peripheral surface thread-shaped grooves and webs, and wherein the grinding wheels are arranged in spatial proximity to each other, that the webs and grooves of the two grinding wheels engage with each other.
The inventive grinding device has the advantage that knives can be provided with an unusually good finish. The meshing of the webs and grooves has the advantage that the grinding wheels form a relatively deep and defined designed grinding surface in the direction of the axis of rotation, so that the knife can be sharpened accurately and reproducibly. The thread-like extending webs and grooves have the advantage that the webs seemingly move in the course of rotation of the axis of rotation during rotation, so that these webs exert a grinding effect in the direction of the axis of rotation or in the direction of the blade. This causes a particularly good, reproducible cut.
In a preferred embodiment, the grinding wheel consists of a metallic base wheel whose peripheral surface is coated with an abrasive, preferably Borozon. In addition to Borozon, other, similarly acting abrasives are suitable. Borozon has the advantage that it has a hardness similar to diamond, that its grains are relatively small, for example 9 hundredths of a millimeter, and that borozon does not become dull because refractive grains retain their sharpness. The surface of the base wheel is preferably with a layer of grains coated so that the total layer thickness is less than 1 millimeter. The use of such a thin-layer, durable abrasive has the advantage that it is hardly worn during the grinding, with the result that the geometry of the peripheral surfaces of the grinding wheels, on which the grinding takes place hardly changed. Therefore, these grinding wheels do not have to be constantly redelivered because their diameter does not change during the grinding operation. The grinder is therefore easy to use and requires only a small amount of maintenance. In addition, due to the lack of wear, the geometry of the cut shape is reproducible for a long time. Borozon also has the advantage that it can be ground dry without liquid. Another advantage of the inventive grinding machine is that the grinding wheels with high speed of 1'000 to 10'000 revolutions per minute are operable, what a speed of movement of the webs and grooves in the direction of the axis of rotation, depending on the pitch angle and the speed of between 10 and 100 meters per minute. This high speed of movement makes it possible to provide a blade in the longitudinal direction with an exceptionally uniform grinding.
The webs and grooves extending along the circumferential surface of the grinding wheel can be configured as single threads or as multiple threads. Preferably, a double thread is used. The web and groove of a multiple thread have a higher pitch, which has a correspondingly higher speed of movement of webs and grooves in the direction of the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel result.

The
Figure 3 shows the two
The
Figure 5 shows a longitudinal section through the
Figure 6 shows in a perspective view the
In an advantageous embodiment, a transparent cover is arranged above the grinding
With the grinder preferably a hollow grinding is produced.
