Definitions
- the invention relates to a caulking gun with cartridge holder according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
- Cartridge guns which are also referred to as cartridge presses, are known for extruding pasty materials from cartridges, such as, for example, sealing material, glue or the like.
- Such Auspresswerkzeuge have to receive the cartridge, a shell whose shape is adapted to the outer shape of a cartridge. One end of the shell is attached to the handle of the cartridge press. This end face has a recess in which the push rod with the punch attached thereto is displaceable. The opposite end side is slotted, so that the tip of the cartridge, which has a displaceable bottom acting as a piston, can be inserted into this slot.
- the push rod is advanced by a gun-type actuating mechanism which has an actuator in the form of a pivotable trigger lever. The bar is moved forward a short step with each pull-off movement.
- the actuating mechanism on a feed element which is advanced by manually moving the actuator and entrains the rod. When you release the actuator, the feed element slides back empty on the rod.
- a major disadvantage of this known cartridge holders consists in their length and the resulting weight of the cartridge gun.
- the execution of the cartridge holder made of sheets or the like brings a relatively high material consumption with it.
- About half of the material needed for such a cartridge press is needed for the construction of the cartridge holder, which of course affects the overall weight of the cartridge gun.
- a reduction of the material content of the cartridge holder and, associated therewith, a reduction in weight is therefore desirable.
- Another disadvantage of this cartridge holders is that the insertion and removal of the cartridges is cumbersome, since these often tilt.
- Out DE G89 01 028.0 is a manual gun known in which on the front side of a pistol grip a screw cap with internal thread is mounted, into which a threaded ring with external thread and axial bore is screwed.
- the cartridge which has a flange at the rear end, is pushed from behind through the threaded ring until the flange abuts the rear side of the screw ring. Then the screw ring is screwed into the screw cap.
- EP-A2-1 034 847 discloses a cartridge press with a cartridge holder having claws whose free ends engage in the outer wall of a cartridge inserted into the holder.
- the claws dig themselves slightly into the material of the cartridge, so that the cartridge is held securely.
- a sliding sleeve is pressed against the cartridge holder and against the claws, whereby they release the cartridge, and the cartridge can be pulled out of the cartridge holder.
- the invention is therefore an object of the invention to provide a caulking gun with a cartridge holder that requires a low material requirement and allows easy replacement of cartridges.
- the principle of the invention is that the cartridge receptacle consists only of a pedestal, in which the lower end of a cartridge can be inserted.
- the base gripping elements are arranged, which engage in the inner wall of the inserted cartridge on the inner wall of the cartridge and hold the cartridge.
- the piston rod is completely withdrawn until a stamp arranged at the front end of the piston rod pushes the gripping elements back out of the gripping position and releases the cartridge for removal.
- the caulking gun further comprises an actuating device for displacing the piston rod, which allows the piston rod to be displaced steplessly either in the forward direction or in the reverse direction.
- a stamp is arranged with a protruding edge to the rear.
- the punch is retracted with the piston rod until the edge of the punch rests on the arranged in the base of the cartridge holder gripping elements.
- the retraction of the punch is done either by pulling on the rear end of the piston rod, or by repeatedly pressing a retraction lever, which shifts the piston rod to the rear. By pressing the return lever again, the punch presses against the gripping elements and releases them from their anchoring in the cartridge wall.
- the cartridge can be removed from the cartridge holder unhindered. Removing a used cartridge from the caulking gun is substantially simplified with the cartridge gun according to the invention, so that a change of the cartridges is facilitated.
- a further advantage of the cartridge gun according to the invention is that the actuating device allows the piston rod to be displaced continuously in the forward direction or in the return direction.
- a problem in the pressing of pasty materials is that builds up in the cartridge when advancing the piston rod attached to the plunger and pressing against the piston in the cartridge. After dispensing the amount of pasty mass corresponding to the feed path, a dripping occurs by releasing the pressure, so that accurate metering and portioning are difficult. Dripping can also pollute the environment.
- the pressure build-up that causes dripping is, on the one hand, due to the fact that the medium to be squeezed out has a certain compressibility and, on the other hand, to the elastic deformability of the cartridge. Dripping can be avoided if the pressure in the cartridge is reduced in good time. This can be achieved by timely withdrawal of the stamp. If enough material is squeezed out, a short press on the return lever will suffice, as a result of which the punch will be pulled back a little and no force will be exerted on the piston by the punch. With the cartridge gun according to the invention, the problem of dripping can thus be avoided.
- front and back refer to the caulking gun, with the front of the cartridge holder is located, and behind the opposite end means.
- FIG. 1 a cartridge gun 1 is shown schematically.
- the caulking gun 1 has a housing 7 with a handle 2 and a cartridge holder 3.
- the feed and retraction device for moving the piston rod 4 is arranged, which is actuated by pressure grips.
- the piston rod 4 at each pressure movement on the feed handle 8 moves a short step forward or moves a short step backwards in a pressure movement at the retraction handle 9.
- the front end of the piston rod 4 forms a punch 5 and the rear end of the piston rod 4 is provided with a holding knob 6. With the retaining knob 6, the piston rod 4 can be withdrawn or pushed into the cartridge to the bottom of the cartridge.
- FIG. 2 a cartridge gun 1 with a cartridge 10 inserted into the cartridge holder 3 is shown in section.
- the cartridge 10 is shown without content and without cartridge bottom, which forms the piston.
- the piston rod 4 is completely withdrawn.
- the piston rod 4 With each pressure movement on the feed lever 8 in the direction of the handle 2, the piston rod 4 is pressed by a small distance forward in the direction of the nozzle 11 into the cartridge 10. It pushes the punch 5 against the piston in the cartridge and presses the pasty material in the cartridge through the nozzle 11 to the outside.
- a short pressure on the return lever 9 in the direction of the handle 2 pushes the piston rod 4 back a small step, whereby the piston relieved and the pressure in the cartridge 10 is reduced. As a result, dripping can be avoided.
- FIG. 3 shows an enlarged section of the FIG. 2
- the cartridge holder 3 consists of a cylindrical base 12 with an annular groove 14.
- the outer diameter of the annular groove 14 corresponds to the outer diameter of a cartridge 10, so that this effortlessly into the annular groove 14th of the base 12 can be inserted and rests against the outer wall of the annular groove 14.
- An axially extending, stepped hole 15 in the center of the base 12 serves to receive a hub 16.
- gripping elements 17 are clamped. These gripping elements 17 may be individual claws protruding into the annular groove 14, the free ends of which extend to the outer wall of the annular groove 14.
- the longitudinally slotted lateral surface of a frustoconical element forms the gripping elements.
- the upper top surface of the truncated cone-like element has a bore, such that the remaining circular ring of this top surface between the hub 16 and the edge 20 of the collar 18 can be clamped.
- Through the slots in the lateral surface of the truncated cone-like element are strip-shaped gripping elements 17, the free ends of which protrude into the annular groove 14 in the direction of the housing 7 of the cartridge gun 1 to the outer wall of the annular groove 14 and may be sharp or pointed.
- these gripping elements 17 are made of spring steel.
- the gripping elements 17 press with their free ends against the inner wall 13 of the cartridge 10 and hold them firmly. Once with the punch 5 against the piston in When the cartridge 10 is pressed, pressure is also applied to the cartridge 10 which tries to push the cartridge 10 out of the cartridge holder 3. This is prevented by the gripping elements 17, which cling slightly under this pressure in the side wall of the cartridge.
- feed drive plate 21 is mounted, through the opening of the piston rod 4 protrudes.
- the opening in the feed drive plate 21 is slightly larger than the diameter of the piston rod 4, so that the feed drive plate 21 is freely displaceable along the piston rod 4.
- the feed drive plate 21 is pressed by a compression spring 22 to the rear.
- the handle 4 has a feed handle 8, which acts on the underside of the feed drive plate 21.
- the feed cam plate 21 is first tilted forward until it presses against the piston rod 4 and tilted there, and then pushed against the biasing force of the compression spring 22 further forward, where they the piston rod 4 with the punch. 5 moved forward.
- a further tiltable drive plate 24 for the reverse displacement of the piston rod 4 is attached in the housing 7, a further tiltable drive plate 24 for the reverse displacement of the piston rod 4 is attached.
- This retraction drive plate 24 is pressed by the compression spring 22 to the front.
- a pivotable about an axis 19 retraction handle 9 is arranged in the housing 7, which acts on the underside of the retracting drive plate 24.
- the piston rod 4 is in the representation in the retracted position, as is the case with a newly inserted cartridge 10.
- the piston rod 4 is pushed with the punch 5 continuously forward in the cartridge 10 and against the piston pressed, which presses the pasty mass from the cartridge 10.
- a short pressure on the return handle 9 is sufficient to move the piston rod 4 a little backwards.
- 5 no force acts on the piston from the punch, and the pressure in the cartridge 10 is reduced, which prevents dripping.
- the arranged at the front end of the piston rod 4 punch 5 has a flat front surface, and a recessed edge 25, which is slightly bevelled at its end 26.
- the bevel corresponds approximately to the inclination of the gripping elements.
- the beveled end 26 of the edge 26 presses from the punch 5 against the resilient gripping elements 17 which are thereby pushed away from the inner wall 13 of the cartridge 10, and the cartridge 10 can be removed from the cartridge holder 3.
- the elastic gripping elements 17 return to their starting position due to their elasticity, that is to say that the free ends reach back to the inner edge of the circular groove 14.
- FIG. 4 shows an enlarged section of the housing 7 with the cartridge holder 3 and the actuator for moving the piston rod 4 at fully retracted punch 5.
- the picture also shows the situation in which the retracting handle 9 is pressed, and the gripping elements 17 from the recessed edge 25th of the punch 5 are pressed against the inside, and thereby release the edge portion of the annular groove 14, whereby the cartridge 10 can be pulled out of the cartridge holder 3.
- the embodiment shown in the figures shows a caulking gun 1, in which the housing 7 is integrally formed with the handle 2 and the cartridge holder 3 and made for example of plastic. It is of course also conceivable that the cartridge gun 1 is composed of individual parts and the base 12 of the cartridge holder 3 is screwed, for example, to the end face of the housing 7.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a caulking gun with cartridge holder according to the preamble of
Cartridge guns, which are also referred to as cartridge presses, are known for extruding pasty materials from cartridges, such as, for example, sealing material, glue or the like. Such Auspresswerkzeuge have to receive the cartridge, a shell whose shape is adapted to the outer shape of a cartridge. The push rod is advanced by a gun-type actuating mechanism which has an actuator in the form of a pivotable trigger lever. The bar is moved forward a short step with each pull-off movement. For this purpose, the actuating mechanism on a feed element, which is advanced by manually moving the actuator and entrains the rod. When you release the actuator, the feed element slides back empty on the rod.
A major disadvantage of this known cartridge holders consists in their length and the resulting weight of the cartridge gun. The execution of the cartridge holder made of sheets or the like brings a relatively high material consumption with it. About half of the material needed for such a cartridge press is needed for the construction of the cartridge holder, which of course affects the overall weight of the cartridge gun. Another disadvantage of this cartridge holders is that the insertion and removal of the cartridges is cumbersome, since these often tilt.

These mentioned manual pistols have the disadvantage that the cartridge change is complicated and time-consuming. A threaded ring or sleeve must first be unscrewed or operated before the cartridge can be removed from the holder. This manipulation is therefore expensive, since this actually requires three hands, namely to hold the gun, to screw the screw ring or to press the sleeve against the claws and another hand to remove the empty cartridge from the cartridge gun.
The invention is therefore an object of the invention to provide a caulking gun with a cartridge holder that requires a low material requirement and allows easy replacement of cartridges.
This object is achieved by a cartridge press with the features of
The principle of the invention is that the cartridge receptacle consists only of a pedestal, in which the lower end of a cartridge can be inserted. In the base gripping elements are arranged, which engage in the inner wall of the inserted cartridge on the inner wall of the cartridge and hold the cartridge. To release the gripping elements, the piston rod is completely withdrawn until a stamp arranged at the front end of the piston rod pushes the gripping elements back out of the gripping position and releases the cartridge for removal. The advantage of such a caulking gun is that the cartridge receptacle consists only of a pedestal and does not extend over the entire length of the cartridge to be inserted. By eliminating the shell construction for the cartridge holder material is saved. Thus, the total weight of the caulking gun can be kept low. The caulking gun further comprises an actuating device for displacing the piston rod, which allows the piston rod to be displaced steplessly either in the forward direction or in the reverse direction. At the front end of the piston rod, a stamp is arranged with a protruding edge to the rear. To remove a used cartridge, the punch is retracted with the piston rod until the edge of the punch rests on the arranged in the base of the cartridge holder gripping elements. The retraction of the punch is done either by pulling on the rear end of the piston rod, or by repeatedly pressing a retraction lever, which shifts the piston rod to the rear. By pressing the return lever again, the punch presses against the gripping elements and releases them from their anchoring in the cartridge wall. The cartridge can be removed from the cartridge holder unhindered. Removing a used cartridge from the caulking gun is substantially simplified with the cartridge gun according to the invention, so that a change of the cartridges is facilitated. A further advantage of the cartridge gun according to the invention is that the actuating device allows the piston rod to be displaced continuously in the forward direction or in the return direction. A problem in the pressing of pasty materials is that builds up in the cartridge when advancing the piston rod attached to the plunger and pressing against the piston in the cartridge. After dispensing the amount of pasty mass corresponding to the feed path, a dripping occurs by releasing the pressure, so that accurate metering and portioning are difficult. Dripping can also pollute the environment. The pressure build-up that causes dripping is, on the one hand, due to the fact that the medium to be squeezed out has a certain compressibility and, on the other hand, to the elastic deformability of the cartridge.

In the housing 7 a tiltable on a known manner
The

The embodiment shown in the figures shows a
