Definitions
- Airbag arrangement as well as gear and operating methods therefor
- the invention relates to an airbag arrangement and a transmission and an operating method therefor.
- the invention is concerned with a non-rotating driver airbag in a steering wheel in an automobile.
- German patent specification 872011 dated July 8, 1949 there is a clock that does not rotate in the steering wheel by means of planetary gears.
- the present invention has and achieves the aim of improving the existing technology.
- the upper and lower parts of the steering wheel shaft are connected with different types of gears.
- the transmission is preferably in the area of the connection of the steering column and therefore does not lead to an increased tendency of the steering to shake.
- the invention thus also provides, in particular, an alternative to the prior art gearbox for stationary positioning of a driver airbag in the car, regardless of the angle of rotation of the steering wheel.
- a better, encompassing and covering A-pillar shape of the airbag itself can then be used with advantage.
- the cable inlets of the airbag and the multifunction steering wheel can be easily stationary. Cost, space and function-optimized solutions are given below in the form of corresponding exemplary embodiments and in the drawings. Individual design features and combinations of features are readily combinable within the scope of expert knowledge, and individual exemplary embodiments do not limit the invention to only such combinations due to their respective combination of features.
- a connection to a servo support and possibly a dynamic change in the angle of rotation between the steering wheel and steering shaft can be added inexpensively.
- Only one planetary gear set is required in the fixed housing of the steering column tube with an adapted steering gear (see e.g. Fig. 7).
- Another “highlight” is a gearbox and an airbag with a static cable passage, firmly connected to the steering column tube.
- the steering wheel with integrated sun wheel. drives planet gears on a shaft.
- a planet gear runs on a sun gear as the end of the steering shaft. Everything takes place in the flange of the steering wheel or within the stationary steering column tube. (see e.g. Figs. 18 and 19).
- Airbag arrangement with a mechanism for a "stationary”, i.e. driver airbag that does not rotate when the steering wheel rotates, designed in such a way that the mechanics are located within the steering column.
- Airbag arrangement according to claim 1 designed in such a way that the mechanics divides the steering shaft into two areas such that the center of gravity lies in the area of the connection of the body to keep vibrations small.
- Airbag arrangement according to claim 1 and 2 designed such that between the two steering shaft halves there is a fixed mounting option with the steering shaft tube.
- Airbag arrangement according to claim 3 with such a fixed mounting option that it receives the airbag with a connecting tube.
- Airbag arrangement according to claim 3 with such a fixed mounting option that a connecting gear between the upper and lower steering shaft tube is attached there or is connected from there to the upper and lower steering column shaft.
- Airbag arrangement according to one of the preceding claims, wherein the implementation of the cables for the airbag and preferably an alternative "multifunction steering wheel" is realized by the tube that carries the airbag.
- Airbag arrangement according to one of the preceding claims, wherein the steering gear of the steering column mechanism is designed such that the opposite movement of the steering wheel and steering column is compensated again, in particular according to FIGS. 5a, b, c.
- Airbag arrangement according to one of the preceding claims wherein the connecting gear between the upper and lower steering shaft is designed such that the angle of rotation and the direction of rotation of the two steering shafts may or may not be the same depending on the requirement, in particular according to FIGS. 6a, b, c , 18. Airbag arrangement according to claim 17, wherein the connecting gear is designed such that it is housed homogeneously in the "interior" of the steering shaft or between them, without requiring additional space.
- Airbag arrangement according to one of claims 17 to 19, wherein the steering column housing is designed such that it carries the airbag by means of a shaped tube.
- Airbag arrangement according to one of claims 22 to 24, wherein the transmission in the sun and planet gears- stalten is that the tube carrying the airbag can be carried out with its cable passage in between, in particular according to FIGS. 8a, b, c.
- Airbag arrangement according to claim 33 wherein the housing halves are designed such that their position can be changed by means of left-hand / right-hand threads so that the connecting chain is "free of play", in particular according to FIGS. 16a, b, c or 17a, b, c.
- Airbag arrangement with a standing airbag mechanism designed in such a way that the stationary steering column tube creates a connection for the stationary airbag on a correspondingly bent tube, in particular according to FIGS. 18a, b, c or 19a, b, c.
- Airbag arrangement according to claim 36 wherein the stationary steering column tube is designed in such a way that a connecting gear between the steering wheel and the steering shaft is also mounted therein, in particular according to FIGS. 18a, b, c.
- Airbag arrangement according to claim 38 wherein the special steering wheel is designed such that a sun wheel is integrated or fastened to the lower turntable.
- Airbag arrangement according to one of the preceding claims, wherein a connecting shaft is designed in particular according to claim 37, each with a planet gear at the ends such that the one planet gear meshes in the sun gear of the steering wheel and the other in the sun gear of the steering shaft.
- Airbag arrangement according to one of the preceding claims, wherein the connecting gear in its translation between the sun and planet gears is designed so that a desired speed deviation between the steering wheel and steering shaft arises.
- FIGS. La, b, c show in a first embodiment, a steering wheel 1, which is not, as is common today, fixed by means of a cone 3 and a nut 4 on the steering column shaft 2, but on a second, arranged laterally parallel to it Hollow shaft 5.
- This hollow shaft 5 is also mounted in a steering column housing 6, as is the actual steering column shaft 2.
- FIGS. La, b, c show the two bearings 7 and 8 of the hollow shaft and the upper bearing 9 of the actual steering column shaft 2.
- Both shafts, the steering column shaft 2 and the hollow shaft 5, are provided with the sprockets 10 and 11, which "mesh" precisely with no play. If the ratio is 1: 1, the steering column shaft 2 rotates as fast as the hollow shaft 5. This is the normal case. Other translations are possible.
- a continuous change in gear ratio is also feasible by means of an automatic gear ratio transmission which is implemented in any technically customary manner.
- an airbag 12 which is also provided with a further hollow shaft 13, is inserted into the hollow shaft 5.
- the hollow shaft 13 of the airbag 12 has a secure and positionally positioned attachment. In the case shown, this is a cone 14 with a tongue and groove positioning, not shown.
- To secure the cone 14 or the hollow shaft 13 is pulled into a cone 15 of the steering housing 6 by means of a nut 16.
- Other technically customary fastenings are conceivable and are within the scope of the present invention.
- the airbag 12 is now fixed on its hollow shaft 13 in the steering column housing 6.
- the hollow shaft 5 then rotates around this hollow shaft 13 on the bearings 7 and 8.
- the steering wheel 1 is fastened to this hollow shaft 5.
- sliding bushes 17 and 18 are alternatively installed if necessary and then preferably.
- this "standing" airbag 12 Another advantage of this "standing" airbag 12 is that all cables 19 are passed through its hollow shaft 13 can. This also applies and in particular to the cables of a multifunction steering wheel (not shown). In this case, its switches are not rotatably attached to the airbag housing (not shown) or the like.
- the steering wheel 1 rotates in the opposite direction to the steering column shaft 2 (see also FIGS. 2a, b, c).
- the steering gear housing e.g. "comb” a lower pinion 21 on the opposite side of a toothed rack 22 (see also FIGS. 5a, b, c) or the steering levers must be mirrored to the rear if they were previously carried out to the front or vice versa (see also FIG. 4a , b, c).
- an idler gear 20 should preferably be fitted between a ring gear 10 of the hollow shaft 5 and a ring gear 11 of the steering column shaft 2 (see also FIGS. 3a, b, c).
- the airbag 12 resting on a shaped tube 23 which also serves for the passage of the cables 19.
- the cables 19 of the "multifunction wheels” (not shown) also run through here.
- the tube 23 is mounted in an upper steering column shaft 26 by means of a bearing 28.
- the shaped tube 23 rests on a bearing fitting 24, which in turn is fixed in the steering column housing 6 with screws 25 or the like.
- the upper (26) and lower steering column shaft 27 are mounted separately in the steering column housing 6, in each case below or above the bearing fitting 24.
- a "sun gear” 29 and 30 is fastened at their respective ends.
- An axis 31 is inserted through the bearing shaped piece 24 and stored therein.
- FIGS. 6a, b, c show the section C from FIGS. 6a, b, c.
- Screws 25 fix a shaped bearing piece 24 and the shaped pipe 23. Also the plug 34, held by the assembly of the shaped pipe 23 and the shaped bearing piece 24 for the cables 19, can be seen.
- FIGS. 10a, b, c show, as an alternative to the technique shown and described in FIGS. 7a, b, c, in the context of yet another exemplary embodiment, helically toothed gears 35, 36, 37.
- the bearing fitting 24 is replaced by a sheet metal welded construction 38.
- the advantage of this arrangement is that you can work at the same speed of the upper and lower steering column shaft 26, 27. However, the direction of rotation of the shafts is opposite.
- a further gearwheel 39 and its axis 42 have been added compared to the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 10a, b, c in order to achieve a direction of rotation of the two steering column shafts 26, 27 in the same direction.
- a suitable sheet metal stamping housing 41 is provided for the bearing 40.
- FIGS. 13a, b, c the embodiment shown in FIGS. 12a, b, c is used in order to simply flange on a power assistance / steering power assistance 50, since the free shaft end 51 of the transmission is less expensive, as a common "docking" of power steering.
- the gear 52 is separated and a translation converter 53 is interposed.
- a computer 54 records the speed 55 of the car and the angle of rotation 56 of the steering wheel and thus determines the transmission ratio 57 between the lower and upper steering column shaft 26, 27.
- the technical design of the translation converter 53 and its periphery is not discussed further, since this is the case, for example, with the so-called BMW 5 Series has been in production since 2003.
- Servo support and translation converter can also be combined.
- the connection of both known steering improvement mechanisms at this point is relevant to the invention, since the steering column shaft is divided here anyway because of the “stationary” airbag 12.
- the mechanism is divided into a short steering column shaft 63 and a long steering column shaft 64.
- the steering column shafts 63 and 64 are mounted in the first housing (1) 69 and the second housing (2) 73.
- the steering column shafts 63 and 64 are provided with the first and second sprockets (1) and (2) 66 and 67, respectively. These are connected to the chain 71.
- the chain 71 must be tensioned "without play”; which is realized here by way of example with 2 adjusting screws 68 in the present exemplary embodiment. These set screws connect the two housings 69 and 73, have left and right-hand threads and turn the screws 71 to make the chain 71 "free of play”. Other chain tensioning designs can also be used. Due to the continuously open "short" steering column shaft 63, all cables 19 can be passed through.
- the standpipe 72 is fastened on a cover 65, which is itself part of the first housing (1) 69.
- 17a, b, c show in section D of Fig. 16a, b, c the arrangement of the short steering column shaft 63, the long steering column shaft 64, the first sprocket (1) 66, the second sprocket (2) 67, the Set screws 68, the first housing (1) 69, the sheet metal casing 70, the chain 71, the standpipe 72, the airbag 12 and the second housing (2) 73.
- An outer upright steering column tube 74 carries the standing airbag 12 at the upper end.
- a special steering wheel 1 with teeth 75 is mounted on the end of the upright steering column tube 74.
- the toothing 75 drives a toothed wheel 76 which rotates perpendicular to the toothing 75 of the steering wheel 1.
- the gear 76 is attached to a shaft 77, at the opposite end of which another gear 78 is attached.
- the shaft 77 is mounted transversely in the standing steering column tube 74.
- the gear 78 meshes at right angles in a gear 79 which is attached to the upper end of a rotating steering column shaft 80.
- the steering column shaft 80 rotates in the same direction as the steering wheel 1.
- the translation of gear 76 and gear 78 must be the same as the translation between gear 78 and gear 79
- the corresponding design does not have to change the steering gear on the axle (not shown).
- 19a, b, c show in section D of FIG. 18 the arrangement of the gear wheels 76, 78 and 79 and the shaft 77.
- the arrangement shows that there is more than sufficient space, from the standing airbag 12 and from the Steering wheel hub for multifunction steering wheels (not shown), the cables past the shaft 77 and through the standing steering column tube 74 to the outside.
- FIGS. 19a, b, c show a development of the embodiment of FIGS. 19a, b, c.
- This further-developed embodiment is advantageous if the highest torque in the event of an accident, for example, cannot be transmitted via "one" gear in each case.
- "four" times the gears 76 and 78 are used. This would also be possible two or three times, depending on the need. With this arrangement, when the gears 76 are engaged in the gear 79 and through the package, the reverse direction of rotation of the steering wheel to the steering column shaft is achieved.
