  1. A button-hole sewing machine comprising

    - at least one work piece clamp (9a, 9b) which is displaceable in a y-direction,
    - a button-hole cutting device (13) which
    -- is arranged downstream of the work piece clamp (9a, 9b) in y-direction as seen from the needle (6),
    -- is provided with a knife unit (14) which is arranged in the base plate (2) and has a knife (45) with at least one cutting edge (66, 67),
    -- is provided with an upper cutting block (15) which cooperates with the knife (45) and has an anvil (64) providing a counter surface (69) for the knife (45),
    -- is provided with a cutting drive (16) for a displacement of the cutting block (15) in a vertical z-direction downward towards the knife (45), and
    -- is provided with a drive (54) for a displacement of the anvil (64) in a y-direction with reference to the knife (45),
    characterized
    in that the knife unit (14) is provided with two side-by-side knives (45, 46), and
    in that a drive (29) is provided for a displacement of the knives (45, 46) in an x-direction which is transverse to the y-direction and transverse to the z-direction, with said displacement taking place between two end positions where only one knife (45, 46) at a time is applicable to the counter surface (69) of the anvil (64).
  2. A button-hole sewing machine according to claim 1 characterized
    in that a knife (45) is provided with a straight cutting edge (66) extending in the y-direction and an eye-cutting edge (67).
  3. A button-hole sewing machine according to claim 1 characterized
    in that a knife (46) is provided with an eye-cutting edge (68) or an eyelet-cutting edge only.
  4. A button-hole sewing machine according to claim 1 characterized
    in that the drive (54) for the displacement of the anvil (64) is integrated in the cutting block (15).
  5. A button-hole sewing machine according to claim 1 characterized
    in that the drive (29) for the displacement of the knife (45, 46) is integrated in the knife unit (14).
  6. A button-hole sewing machine according to claim 1 characterized
    in that the drive for the displacement of the anvil (64) is configured as a pneumatically-actuated two-position linear drive (54).
  7. A button-hole sewing machine according to claim 1 characterized
    in that the drive for the displacement of the knives (45, 46) is configured as a pneumatically-actuated two-position linear drive (29).
  8. A button-hole sewing machine according to the claims 1, 4 and 6 characterized
    in that the anvil (64) is connected with a piston rod (57) of the drive (54) by means of a longitudinal slide (53).
  9. A button-hole sewing machine according to the claims 1, 5 and 7 characterized
    in that the knives (45, 46) are connected with a piston rod (31) of the drive (29) by means of a transverse slide (28).
  10. A button-hole sewing machine according claim 1 characterized
    in that the knives (45, 46) are arranged detachably and replaceably on the knife unit (14).
  11. A button-hole sewing machine according to claim 1 characterized
    in that the anvil (64) is arranged detachably and replaceably on the cutting block (15).
