- the bracket 23 also allows the adjustable arm 25 to adjust smoothly through the full range of motion allowing for abroad range of angles for the leg supports 12 and 13, in particular when near-flat or at low relative angles to the seat.
- the receptacle 27 includes an elastic spring 24 which compresses and extends depending upon the weight placed upon the leg support 12 or 13.
- the leg supports 12 and 13 are loaded from the weight of the user's legs, which then apply downward pressure on the adjustable arm 25.
- the arm slider 26 slides into the receptacle 27 and compresses the elastic spring 24.
- the arm slider 26 slides out of receptacle 27 by the restoration force of elastic spring 24. Therefore, the user leg supports 12 and 13 allow the user to adjust the angle of the leg supports 12 and 13 independently of each other anywhere between 0 and about 50 degrees relative to the plane of the seat 11.
- the arm slider 26 and the receptacle 27 also maybe operated by an air pressure system, an oil pressure system, a hydraulic system or any other appropriate mechanism known to those skilled in the art.
- the adjustable arm 25 may also include a locking device (not shown) for allowing a user to lock the leg supports 12 and 13 in a stable position based upon the desired angle of thigh support when sitting in a cross-legged position.
- a user unlocks the locking device and lifts the leg supports 12 and 13 to desired angle.
- a user then locks the locking device to secure the adjustable arm 25 to prevent movement to the leg supports 12 and 13.
- the chair may include a lower back support 30.
- the back support 30 is connected to the seat 11.
- the top of the back support 30 consists of a back rest 14 for supporting a user's back.
- the back rest 14 is hingedly connected to the back support 30 to allow adjustment to increase the user's comfort level.
- the back support 30 also may have a shape for aligning the pelvic bone with the rest of the user's spinal column for maximizing the postural benefits of sitting in the chair.
- set 11 may have a particulars shape to ensure that it supports both cross-legged and conventional seating.
- seat 11 tapers inward from the user's hips to accommodate the leg supports 12 and 13 and then curves outward to accommodate a user's feet while sitting in a cross-legged position.
- the front of seat 11 defines tapered recesses which are meant to allow room for a user's legs when sitting in a conventional manner on the chair.
- the surface of the seat 11, leg supports 12 and 13 and the lower back support 30 may be optionally padded with foam or other padding material, and then covered with suitable upholstery (not shown).
- chair base 40 is any chair base of a suitable height for work environments typically found in North America, such as an office chair base or wooden chair base.
- office chair base 50 is a type typically found on office chairs. More specifically, the office chair base 50 includes a stem (not shown) and a floor base 51. The floor base 51 may include wheels 52 for providing mobility. The stem may be height adjustable to ensure that the chair can be adjusted to a height suitable for the user's environment.

Abstract
Claims (17)
- Appareil pour supporter un utilisateur assis dans une position de jambes croisées comprenant : un siège (11) ; une base (40) reliée en fonctionnement au siège pour supporter le siège ; et des supports de jambe réglables (12, 13) étant chacun reliés par charnière à un côté du siège pour soutenir chacune des jambes de l'utilisateur pendant que l'utilisateur est assis dans une position de jambes croisées, dans lequel les supports de jambe (12, 13) sont chargés du poids des jambes de l'utilisateur et dans lequel les supports de jambe (12, 13) sont réglés en faisant pivoter les supports de jambe (12, 13) autour des charnières (21, 22) et les supports de jambe (12, 13) sont maintenus en place à l'aide d'un bras réglable (25) reliant chacun des supports de jambe (12, 13) au siège.
- Appareil selon la revendication, 1 dans lequel le bras réglable (25) se compose d'un coulisseau de bras (26) et d'un réceptacle (27).

- Appareil selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la position de jambes croisées est une position de yoga avec jambes croisées.
- Appareil selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel le siège (11) se rétrécit vers l'intérieur en partant des hanches de l'utilisateur pour recevoir les supports de jambe (12, 13) puis s'incurve vers l'extérieur pour recevoir les pieds de l'utilisateur pendant que celui-ci est assis dans une position de jambes croisées.
- Appareil selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la forme du siège (11) définit des renfoncements effilés conçus pour donner de l'espace aux jambes de l'utilisateur lorsqu'il est assis de façon classique sur l'appareil.
- Appareil selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la base (40) est une base de chaise de bureau ou une base de chaise en bois.
- Appareil selon la revendication 11, dans lequel la base (40) est une base de chaise de bureau (50) comprenant une tige et une base au sol (51).
- Appareil selon la revendication 12, dans lequel la base au sol (51) comprend des roues (52) pour assurer la mobilité de la chaise.
- Appareil selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel l'appareil comprend un support (23) fixé au siège (11) pour supporter fermement les supports de jambe (12, 13) et permettre à chaque support de jambe (12, 13) de se déplacer selon une plage angulaire plus importante.
- Appareil selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel l'appareil comprend un support de dossier (30) relié par charnière à l'arrière du siège.
- Appareil selon la revendication 15, dans lequel le support de dossier (30) comprend un dossier réglable (14) conçu pour soutenir le dos d'un utilisateur.
- Procédé pour permettre à un utilisateur de s'assoir dans une position de jambes croisées comprenant l'étape de : réalisation d'un appareil comprenant un siège (11), une base d'appareil (40) reliée en fonctionnement au siège (11) pour supporter le siège (11) et des supports de jambe réglables (12, 13) chacun reliés par charnière à un côté du siège (11) pour soutenir chacune des jambes de l'utilisateur pendant que l'utilisateur est assis dans une position de jambes croisées, dans lequel les supports de jambe (12, 13) sont chargés du poids des jambes de l'utilisateur et dans lequel les supports de jambe (12, 13) sont réglés en faisant pivoter les supports de jambe (12, 13) autour des charnières (21, 22) et les supports de jambe (12, 13) sont maintenus en place à l'aide d'un bras réglable (25) reliant chacun des supports de jambe (12, 13) au siège.
