Definitions
- the present invention relates to a watch case including a bracelet clasp, in particular a folding clasp for a flexible bracelet.
- Wristwatches generally include a watch case including the movement, a bracelet and a bracelet clasp to open and close the bracelet to put on or remove the watch.
- the clasp is most often arranged at 180 ° of the box along the bracelet.
- clasps for flexible or rigid wristbands it is admitted, however, that clasps with folding clasp, which allow to vary the length of the bracelet without separating the two strands, provide greater security.
- the clasps with folding clasp generally comprise several metal blades superimposed in the folded position. If the curvature of the blades does not match the diameter of the wrist, these clasps can be uncomfortable. On the other hand, contact with metal both on the upper face of the wrist and on the underside increases the risk of nickel allergies, for example.
- CH156174 describes another wristwatch combined with a three-blade clasp.
- the middle part is mounted on the intermediate blade of the clasp while the upper blade is shaped as a frame folding over this middle part. This construction is complex and expands the watch.
- the three parts of the clasp are clearly visible when the clasp is folded.
- the dial is turned down, which may scratch the ice against the surface of the table.
- the dial is read through a first mirror closing the middle part and a second case linked to the frame; these two superimposed mirrors make the reading unreadable, increase the thickness of the watch and its cost.
- the length of the bracelet can be adjusted and adopt several discrete positions defined by holes to engage the strap of the bracelet; a finer setting, continuously, is not possible.
- a middle is closed by a first mirror while the upper frame
- the present invention relates to an improvement to watch cases including a folding clasp.
- the present invention aims in particular to improve the possibilities of custom adjustment of the length of the flexible bracelet with a clasp.
- the present invention also aims to provide an alternative construction of a watch case incorporating a clasp.
- the invention starts from the new finding that the watch cases combined with a clasp of known type do not allow to adjust the length of the bracelet completely satisfactory.
- the bracelet length adjustment means are often impractical, or require a bracelet formed with a particular profile, expensive to inject and impossible to achieve with certain materials.
- the length of the bracelet can only be adjusted by cutting the bracelet, which is irreversible, impossible to perform without additional tools, and not suitable for textile bracelets or leathers for example whose end tends to unravel if they are cut.
- Other bracelets can only be adjusted using an additional tool needed to remove a pin for example.
- the bracelet consists of a single strand having two ends, conventionally having the shape of a band. It may be made of a material usually used for watch bracelets, such as leather, a textile or preferably an extensible material, in particular an elastomer. According to this preferred embodiment, one of the two ends of the bracelet is linked to the middle part of the watch case, while the second end is connected to the base.
- the aforementioned adjusting element comprises a locking element acting by blocking or pressing a selectable portion of the bracelet. It can thus be implemented with any type of bracelet, without requiring a particular profile of the bracelet. However, this does not exclude the presence of such a particular profile to enhance the locking effect, such as a raised stripes, depending in particular on the nature of the material used for the bracelet, preferably in the case of an elastomer.
- the range of length adjustment of the bracelet is preferably important, for example of the order of the length of the watch case.
- the wristwatch of the invention comprises a middle part 1 in which is housed a watch movement.
- a ring 10 is connected to a not shown crown rod and makes it possible to put the watch movement on time and / or to set other functions.
- the bracelet 4 of the watch consists of a single strand whose two ends 40 and 41 are attached to the watch case.
- the end 41 is thus fixed, for example by means of a spring pin or other means, to the upper face at 6 o'clock of the middle part 1.
- the other end 40 is fixed at 12 o'clock on a base 3 of clasp described below.
- the bracelet is advantageously molded or injected in a flexible and extensible material, for example in a silicone-based material, in order to adapt perfectly to the diameter of the wrist of the wearer.
- a profiling 45 is preferably provided on the inner face of the bracelet to improve the breathing of the skin and reduce slippage.
- the watch case further comprises a clasp extender 2.
- One end of the extension is connected by a first hinge 20 ( figure 4 ) at the underside of the middle at 12 o'clock, while the other end of the extension is articulated by means of a second hinge 21 with the clasp base 3 to 6 hours.
- the pivoting joint 20 is a hinge designed to be easily disassembled, in order to easily isolate the middle part of the other parts of the wristwatch. This is particularly useful for performing various operations, such as casing movement, dial and hands, or for performing various tests, such as leak tests, or to facilitate various repair interventions, if any.
- the hinge 20 comprises a removable bar 22, visible on the figure 4 .
- the extension is formed of a hollow metal frame (stirrup), which in particular makes it possible to reduce the weight of the watch case and to accommodate the bottom of the middle part 1 if this bottom is prominent.
- the extension 2 has the shape of an open stirrup, whose base is articulated with the base 3 by means of the hinge 21.
- this particular form of extension further facilitates the housing of the end 40 of the bracelet under the caseband 1.
- a clasp extender in the form of a solid blade or formed itself of an elastic material may also be considered within the scope of the invention.
- the base 3 is intended to bear against the wrist when the watch is worn.
- the middle block 1 - base 3 preferably forms a set of monolithic appearance when the clasp is closed.
- the base 3 and the middle part 1 fit one against the other without threshold at the junction.
- the base 3 has a recess 30 sufficiently wide and deep to accommodate the entire extension 2 in the folded position.
- the extension 2 is hidden between the base and the middle when the watch is worn.
- the recess 30 also accommodates the end 40 of the wristband 4.
- the depth of engagement of the strand 40 in the recess 30 can be adjusted to adjust the useful length of the wristband depending on the size of the wrist.
- the bracelet 4 is held in the base 3 by a two-position eccentric cam 34, which can pivot parallel to the 3 o'clock-9 o'clock axis between a position in which the bracelet is wedged between the cam 34 and the base 3, and a non-illustrated adjustment position in which the gap between the cam 34 and the base 3 is sufficient to slide the bracelet 4.
- the bracelet is thus maintained by compression of an arbitrary portion of one of its upper or lower faces, and / or friction against the elements 3 and 34.
- the bracelet is preferably made of an elastic material, so that it resumes its shape when the pressure of the cam 34 is released.
- the cam 34 may preferably be released only when the clasp 1, 2, 3 is open; when the watch is closed, the box 1 blocks the rotation of the cam, thus preventing accidental disturbance of the length of the bracelet.
- the cam 34 is preferably arranged so as not to be pivotally disengaged without some resistance, even when the clasp is open, so as to allow the opening of the clasp without the risk of accidentally disrupting the length of the bracelet.
- the resistance to pivoting of the cam 34 may for example be caused by an increased compression of the bracelet during the rotation of the cam.
- the cam 34 can be released only by acting on an additional control member, for example a push button, or by lifting one of the portions of the bracelet.
- the cam 34 may also consist of several elements.
- the visible portion of the cam 34 preferably has the same shape and the same visual appearance as the end 400 of the bracelet linked to the other face of the box, and is thus engaged between two horns 13 of the middle part.
- At least one stop 35 cooperates with the cam 34 in order to limit the rotation thereof around its axis.
- the rotation angle of the cam will be limited to a value less than 90 °.
- at least one stop 35 is carried by the cam 34 projecting from at least one of its ends.
- the stop 35 coming into contact with the portion 37 of the horn 37 of the base, blocks the rotation of the cam.
- the end 40 of the bracelet can slide freely. under the cam.
- the stop 35 comes into contact with the outer rim 38 of the base 3, while the cam 34 immobilizes by compression the end 40 of the bracelet.
- the maximum opening of the rotation angle of the cam can be adjusted by adjusting the dimensions of the stop.
- the length of the recess 30 is preferably maximum, that is to say that it is equal to the length of the base 3 minus a thickness of the edge of the recess.
- the cam 34 is arranged so as to bear as far as possible from the end of the recess closest to the hinge 21. This particular arrangement makes it possible to increase the distance between the cam 34 and the bottom of the hinge. recess near the hinge 21, and therefore to maximize the length adjustment range of the bracelet.
- the bracelet 4 is engaged under the extension 2 in the base 3; it is thus far from the bottom of the middle part 1, which can be prominent according to the thickness of the movement employed. Thus, the bottom of the watch / movement does not interfere with the engagement of the bracelet.
- the cam 34 is arranged to exert a significant pressure over the entire width of the bracelet. In this way, the risk of sliding of the bracelet out of the recess when only a short length of bracelet is engaged in the clasp can be minimized. By distributing the holding force of the cam 34 over the entire width of the bracelet, it also reduces the local pressure and therefore the risk of permanently marking the surface of the bracelet.
- the bearing surface of the base 3 on the underside of the bracelet is preferably less than the contact surface between the cam 34 and the upper face of the bracelet. This particular arrangement makes it possible to hold the bracelet firmly thanks to the significant pressure on the lower face, while minimizing the risk of marking the upper face of the bracelet.
- Stop means for example abutments cooperating on the box and on the bracelet, or a barb engaged in a hole through the bracelet, may however also be used.
- the end 40 of the bracelet 4 is linked to the base of the watch case.
- the traction of this end is therefore along a straight line substantially in the main plane of the base.
- the end 41 of the bracelet attached to the box is preferably bent with a step 400, so that the pulling force of this end is also exerted along a line close to the wrist and substantially contained in the main plane of the base 3.
- the underside of the bracelet 4 is as close as possible to the wrist skin over its entire length, which is more aesthetic, more comfortable and improves the maintenance of the watch even during sudden movements.
- the watch case 1 comprises a mechanical locking device for locking the clasp in the folded position.
- Said mechanical locking device can, as in the example shown in FIG. figure 4 , comprising two push buttons 11 and 12 capable of acting on elastically deformable elements.
- the push-buttons 11 and 12 are placed on the two lateral faces of the middle part 1.
- the push-button 12 makes it possible to actuate a mobile hook 120 connected to the middle part 1 and cooperating with an abutment 33 on the base ( figure 5 ).
- the pushbutton 12 may be pressed against the action of a spring or a blade, not shown, to disengage the hook 120 from the stop and thus open the clasp.
- a similar but symmetrical arrangement is found on the other side of the box.
- the clasp can preferably only be opened by simultaneously pressing the two push buttons 11, 12 and then lifting the middle part 1 relative to the base 3.
- the movable hook 120 advantageously comprises a bevelled face 121, visible on the figure 4 , allowing to close the box-clasp and to push the hook 120 without pressing the push-button 12.
- a symmetrical beveled face, not shown, is also found on the hook 11.
- the arrangement of the push buttons on the middle part 1, rather than on the base 3, makes it possible to move them away from the wrist and thus to reduce the risk of injury to the wearer.
- the crown 10 is accessible even when the clasp is folded, so that it is not necessary to open it to set the time.
- the ring 10 is arranged at 9 o'clock so that in no way it can come into contact with the back of the user's hand.
- a lock of the caseband 1 on the extension 2, or base 3 on the extension is also conceivable within the scope of the invention.
- the locking of the base on the middle case illustrated has the advantage of keeping the entire box 1, 2, 3 firmly in the folded position.
- the base 3 has a semicircular notch 32 placed opposite the ring 10 in the folded position.
- the push-buttons 11 and 12 preferably rest in notches 31 or 36 of the base, respectively. This particular arrangement makes it possible to arrange the crown and the push buttons 11 and 12 close to the junction line between the base and the middle part, and thus to partially conceal this line, or in any case to make it less visible.
- the watch case object of the present invention will be particularly suitable for people practicing certain sports, such as golf in particular.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a watch case including a bracelet clasp, in particular a folding clasp for a flexible bracelet.
Wristwatches generally include a watch case including the movement, a bracelet and a bracelet clasp to open and close the bracelet to put on or remove the watch. The clasp is most often arranged at 180 ° of the box along the bracelet. There are many types of clasps for flexible or rigid wristbands; it is admitted, however, that clasps with folding clasp, which allow to vary the length of the bracelet without separating the two strands, provide greater security.
The clasps with folding clasp generally comprise several metal blades superimposed in the folded position. If the curvature of the blades does not match the diameter of the wrist, these clasps can be uncomfortable. On the other hand, contact with metal both on the upper face of the wrist and on the underside increases the risk of nickel allergies, for example.

a middle is closed by a first mirror while the upper frame
The present invention relates to an improvement to watch cases including a folding clasp.
The present invention aims in particular to improve the possibilities of custom adjustment of the length of the flexible bracelet with a clasp.
The present invention also aims to provide an alternative construction of a watch case incorporating a clasp.
- a middle linked to a first strand of the bracelet,
- a base comprising a first end hingeably connected to the second strand of the bracelet,
- an extension connected in an articulated manner to the middle and the base,
- the joints being arranged so as to allow the superposition of the middle, the extension and the base in the folded position, and the juxtaposition of the middle part, the extension and the base in the deployed position,
- a cam or adjustment member for compressively and / or frictionally holding the bracelet against the base, which member can be tilted, moved or pivoted to reversibly increase or decrease the length in the folded position of the bracelet.
The invention starts from the new finding that the watch cases combined with a clasp of known type do not allow to adjust the length of the bracelet completely satisfactory. The bracelet length adjustment means are often impractical, or require a bracelet formed with a particular profile, expensive to inject and impossible to achieve with certain materials. Often, the length of the bracelet can only be adjusted by cutting the bracelet, which is irreversible, impossible to perform without additional tools, and not suitable for textile bracelets or leathers for example whose end tends to unravel if they are cut. Other bracelets can only be adjusted using an additional tool needed to remove a pin for example. Finally, there are also known watches with a folding clasp near the middle and a separate clasp, allowing a length adjustment, between the two ends of the strands of the bracelet opposite to the middle part. These watches greatly reduce the benefits that can be expected from box-clasps.
According to a preferred variant of the present invention, the bracelet consists of a single strand having two ends, conventionally having the shape of a band. It may be made of a material usually used for watch bracelets, such as leather, a textile or preferably an extensible material, in particular an elastomer. According to this preferred embodiment, one of the two ends of the bracelet is linked to the middle part of the watch case, while the second end is connected to the base.
Advantageously, the aforementioned adjusting element comprises a locking element acting by blocking or pressing a selectable portion of the bracelet.
The range of length adjustment of the bracelet is preferably important, for example of the order of the length of the watch case.
The particular construction proposed is therefore an advantageous alternative to the constructions of the prior art.

The
The
The
The
In a variant not shown, the
The length of the
Furthermore, the
The maintenance of the bracelet by friction and / or compression allows the use of the watch case of the invention with any type of flexible bracelet, including leather or textile bracelets in which it would be difficult to provide grooves or fixing ribs. Stop means, for example abutments cooperating on the box and on the bracelet, or a barb engaged in a hole through the bracelet, may however also be used.
The
The arrangement of the push buttons on the
A lock of the
The
The watch case object of the present invention will be particularly suitable for people practicing certain sports, such as golf in particular.
