Description

C. PERRY, JR., AND N. CURRIE.
WATCH BELT BUCKLE.
APPLICATloy FILED sEPT.14, 1920.
Patented July 5, 1921.
UNITED STATESv PATENT OFFICE.
cnAnLEs PERRY, JE., AND NEIL comms, or sm amiamo, uns.
' warcnELr-BUGXLE.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that we, CHARLES PERRY, J r., and NEIL GUERIE, citizens of the Republic of Mexico and Canada, respectively, as first above stated, residing at San Antonio, inthe county of Bexar and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvefollowing is a specification. g
This invention relates to a new and useful watch belt buckle.
One of the objects ofour invention is di rected to a novel belt buckle for retaining a watch therein so that the time may readily beobserved and the watchclosed.
Another object of our invention relates to abelt buckle of the above type provided with a removable hinged watch which may ments in Watch Belt-Buckles, of which the b valso be opened or closed with respect to the buckle.
With these objects in view and others .which will be manifest and suggested as the nature and purpose of our invention are re- `vealed in the following specification and drawing wherein we have shown a practical,
yet preferred embodiment thereof,
Figure 1 is al perspective of the belt buckle and watch, the latter being closed.
Fig. 2 is a view similar to Fig. 1, the watch being `o n.
Fig. 3 is a view taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1. y
Fig. 4 is a view taken on the line 4-4 of Fi 3. y
Fig. .is a view similar to Fig. 4, the watch being open.
Fig. 6 is a'modified form of the invention showing the watch inside a buckle.
Similar numerals on the drawing referring'to corresponding parts in the specification, numeral-"l designates a belt, having one end secured as at -2 to a curved metal belt buckle 3 and its opposite end l passing between its front' and rear sides 5, 6 and retained by the strap 7 in the usual and well known manner. The top and bottom flanges 8, 9 of the buckle are provided with diag onal recesses 10 in which the reduced ends 11 of a roller 12 may slide to tighten the belt. v
Referring to Figs. 1 and 2, it will be seen that the front side 5 is provided with a circular opening 13 having a beveled edge 13 in which the front face 14 of a watch 15 is retained by a snap catch 16 struck outof the top edge 16', the said catch preferably engaging the stem 17 of the watch. The' Specieation of Letters Patent.
its normal or closed position the face of the watch will be retained within the opening 13 by the catch. In Figs. 1 and 4 it will also erv seen that the stem extends sufficiently above the top flange 8 to permit the winding of the watch without its removal 4from the buckle. Being hinged to the lower side or front of the buckle, by releasing the stem froni'the catch, the time may readily be observed and the watch closed as isclearly obvious from Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawing.
In' the modified form of our novelbuckle watch holder, shown in Fig. 6, we have shown the hooked portion 18n of the watch Patented July 5, 1921. appneaeien inea september 14, 1920. serial ne. 410,100.
1,5l hinged to the vertical pintle 19 to which illustrated our invention embodied in one form by way of example, and which in practice has been found to be highly satisfactory in obtaining the desired results. It
will be obvious however, that other embodiments may' be adopted, and that various changes in the details of construction may be resorted to by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scopel of the invention. It is furthermore understood that the invention is not necessarily limited or restricted to the precise elements shown except in rso for as such limitations are specified in the subject matter being claimed.
Having shown and described our invention, what we now claim as `-new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the U. S. is
In a belt buckle ofthe class described, having an open, beveled front side, a watch case having an integral hook hinged to the lower edge of said'front face, and a catch integral with 'the front face of said buckle for engagement with the stem of a watch to keep the same in its closed osition.
In testimony whereof, we a our signatures hereto.
CHARLES PERRY, JR. NEIL oUREi-E.
