Claims (9)

  1. Mechanische Vorrichtung zum Messen der Breite L eines Poststücks im Vorbeilaufen in einer Postbearbeitungsmaschine, in der man die Poststücke (36) sich entlang eines Poststückbeförderungsweges parallel zu einer Bezugswand (18) bewegen läßt,
    dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie folgendes umfaßt, nämlich eine Vorrichtung (40) zur Erfassung einer Stirnseite eines Poststücks, einen nachgeordneten Hebel (26; 26B), der unter Bildung eines bestimmten Winkels (θ; β) zu der Bezugswand quer über den Poststückbeförderungsweg angeordnet ist, eine Vorrichtung (38) zur Erfassung der Bewegung des nachgeordneten Hebels bei Durchlaufen der Stirnseite des Poststücks, eine Vorrichtung (42) zur Bestimmung einer Bewegungsstrecke der Stirnseite des Poststücks (Δx; Δx2) zwischen der Vorrichtung zur Erfassung einer Stirnseite eines Poststücks und einem Aktivierungspunkt mit dem nachgeordneten Hebel, der durch die Vorrichtung zur Erfassung der Bewegung des nachgeordneten Hebels bestimmt wird, sowie eine Berechnungsvorrichtung (44), um die Breite L des Poststücks anhand der Bewegungsstrecke zu berechnen.
  2. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie ferner folgendes umfaßt, nämlich einen vorgeordneten Hebel (26A), der unter Bildung eines bestimmten Winkels (α) zu der Bezugswand quer über den Poststückbeförderungsweg angeordnet ist, sowie eine Vorrichtung (38) zur Erfassung der Bewegung des vorgeordneten Hebels bei Durchlaufen der Stirnseite des Poststücks, wobei die Vorrichtung zur Bestimmung einer Bewegungsstrecke der Stirnseite des Poststücks ferner die Bestimmung einer Bewegungsstrecke der Stirnseite des Poststücks Δx1 zwischen der Vorrichtung zur Erfassung einer Stirnseite eines Poststücks und einem Aktivierungspunkt mit dem vorgeordneten Hebel, der durch die Vorrichtung zur Erfassung der Bewegung des vorgeordneten Hebels bestimmt wird, vollzieht.
  3. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 1 oder Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Vorrichtung zur Bestimmung einer Bewegungsstrecke der Stirnseite des Poststückes einen Zähler (42) umfaßt, dessen Anlaufen durch die Vorrichtung zur Erfassung einer Stirnseite eines Poststücks gesteuert wird und dessen Anhalten durch die Vorrichtung oder Vorrichtungen zur Erfassung der Bewegung des Hebels oder der Hebel gesteuert wird.
  4. Vorrichtung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß jeder Hebel (26; 26A, 26B) an einer Welle (28) angelenkt ist, die an ihren beiden Enden fest an einem Gehäuse der Postbearbeitungsmaschine angebracht ist.
  5. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß jeder angelenkte Hebel vorteilhafterweise allgemein schwanenhalsförmig ausgebildet ist, mit einem ersten, vorteilhafterweise dreieckigen Endteil (26A), das dazu bestimmt ist, eine Öffnung (12A) einer Aufnahmeplatte (12) der Postbearbeitungsmaschine zu durchgreifen, und einem zweiten Endteil (26B), das - bezogen auf eine Rotationsachse der gemeinsamen Welle - dem ersten gegenüberliegt und dazu bestimmt ist, ein erstes Ende wenigstens eines Federelements (32) aufzunehmen, dessen anderes Ende fest mit einer in dem Gehäuse quer angeordneten Tragstange (34) verbunden ist.
  6. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das zweite Endteil ferner ein erstes bewegliches Element aufweist, das dazu bestimmt ist, mit einem zweiten festen Element, welches mit dem Gehäuse der Postbearbeitungsmaschine fest verbunden ist, zusammenzuwirken, um die Vorrichtung zur Erfassung der Bewegung des Hebels (26; 26A, 26B) zu bilden.
  7. Verfahren zum Messen der Breite L eines Poststücks im Vorbeilaufen in einer Postbearbeitungsmaschine, in der man die Poststücke entlang eines Poststückbeförderungsweges parallel zu einer Bezugswand (18) laufen läßt,
    dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß zunächst das Vorliegen einer Stirnseite eines Poststücks im Bereich einer Vorrichtung (40) zur Erfassung einer Stirnseite eines Poststückes erfaßt wird, daß anschließend das Vorliegen dieser Stirnseite eines Poststücks im Bereich eines nachgeordneten Hebels (26; 26B), der unter Bildung eines bestimmten Winkels (θ; β) zu der Bezugswand quer über den Poststückbeförderungsweg angeordnet ist, erfaßt wird, daß eine Bewegungsstrecke zwischen der Vorrichtung zur Erfassung einer Stirnseite eines Poststücks und einem Aktivierungspunkt mit dem nachgeordneten Hebel, der durch eine Vorrichtung (38) zur Erfassung der Bewegung des nachgeordneten Hebels bei Durchlaufen der Stirnseite des Poststücks geliefert wird, bestimmt wird, und daß die Breite L eines Poststücks anhand der Bewegungsstrecke berechnet wird.
  8. Verfahren nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ferner das Vorliegen der Stirnseite eines Poststücks im Bereich eines vorgeordneten Hebels (26A), der unter Bildung eines bestimmten Winkels (α) zu der Bezugswand quer über den Poststückbeförderungsweg angeordnet ist, erfaßt wird, daß eine Bewegungsstrecke zwischen der Vorrichtung zur Erfassung einer Stirnseite eines Poststücks und einem Aktivierungspunkt mit dem vorgeordneten Hebel, der durch eine Vorrichtung (38A) zur Erfassung der Bewegung des vorgeordneten Hebels bei Durchlaufen der Stirnseite des Poststücks geliefert wird, bestimmt wird.
  9. Postbearbeitungsmaschine, die eine mechanische Vorrichtung zur Messung der Breite L eines Poststücks im Vorbeilaufen nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6 umfaßt.
