Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft ein neues Verfahren zur Herstellung von Dimethylcyanimidocarbonat (DCC, 3,3-Dimetboxy-2­azaprop-2-ennitril) aus Natriumcyanid, Methanol, Chlorgas und Cyanamid.

Description

Verfahren zur Herstellung von Dimethylcyanimidocarbonat
Die Erfindung betrifft ein neues Verfahren zur Herstellung von Dimemylcyanimidocarbonät (DCC, 3,3-Dimethoxy-2-azaprop-2-errrιitril).
Es ist bereits bekannt, dass man Diethylcyanimidocarbonat durch Umsetzung von isoliertem Diethylimidocarbonat mit Cyanamid unter wasserfreien Bedingungen herstellen kann (Chem. Ber. 1967, 100. 2604). Die Ausbeute dieses Verfahrens lässt allerdings zu wünschen übrig, sodass ein zusätzlicher Aufarbeitungsschritt notwendig ist.
Weiterhin ist bekannt, dass sich Dimethylcyanimidocarbonat durch Umsetzung eines entsprechenden Imidocarbonats mit Cyanamid in einem Zweiphasensystem, das Wasser und ein mit Wasser nicht mischbares organisches Lösemittel, z. B. Toluol, enthält, herstellen lässt (EP-A 0 014 064).
Es ist außerdem bekannt, dass sich Dimethylcyanimidocarbonat herstellen lässt, indem man zunächst Natriumcyanid unter alkalischen Bedingungen mit Methanol umsetzt, anschließend Chlor eiηleiteft und nach Neutralisation des Reaktionsgemisches und Zugabe von Cyanamid das gebildete substituierte N-Cyanimidocarbonat nach Zugabe von Methylenchlorid aus der organischen Phase gewinnt (DE-A 3225 249).
Ferner ist bekannt, dass man Dimethylcyanimidocarbonat erhält, indem man das entsprechende hnidocarbonat zunächst aus Methanol und Chlorcyan herstellt und anschließend mit einer Säure zu einer vorgelegten Cyanamidlösung zugibt (EP-B 0 523 619).
Die beschriebenen Verfahren haben als Nachteile, dass bei ihrer Durchführung entweder gesundheits- gefährdende Nebenprodukte entstehen, größere Mengen organischer Lösungsmittel verwendet werden müssen (z.B. Toluol) oder technisch schwierig zu handhabender Reagenzien einsetzt werden (z.B. Chlorcyan).
Es bestand daher die Aufgabe, ein technisch einfach zu realisierendes Verfahren zu entwickeln, das DCC in guten Ausbeuten und hoher Reinheit liefert.
Es wurde nun gefunden, dass man Dimethylcyanimidocarbonat (DCC, 3,3-Dimethoxy-2-azaprop-2- ennitril) der Formel (I) erhält, indem man
in einer ersten Stufe Natriumcyanid in wässriger Natronlauge mit Methanol und Chlorgas umsetzt und
in einer zweiten Stufe das so erhaltene Dimethylimidocarbonat (Oimethoxymethanimin) der Formel (D),
neutralisiert und
in einer dritten Stufe das so erhaltene neutralisierte Dimethylimidocarbonat der Formel (IT) fn eine' vorgelegte wässrige Lösung von Cyanamid (Am omemannitril) einleitet, wobei durch gleichzeitige Zugabe einer Säure der pH-Wert neutral gehalten wird.
Zur Aufarbeitung werden in einer vierten Stufe oxidativ wirkende Nebenverbindungen in Gegenwart eines Extraktionsmittels reduziert,
in einer fünften Stufe nicht-produkthaltige Feststoffpartikel durch Klärfiltration entfernt und
in einer sechsten Stufe das DCC der Formel (I) durch Extraktion und Destillation aufkonzentriert.
Überraschenderweise kann nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren DCC auf einfache Art in hoher Reinheit erhalten werden. Insbesondere ist überraschend, dass das neutralisierte Dimethylimidocarbo- nat unter den gewählten Reaktionsbedingungen ausreichend lange stabil ist, um in der Folgereaktioή ohne Ausbeuteverlust eingesetzt werden zu können.
Die erfindungsgemäße Umsetzung hat daneben den Vorteil einer erhöhten Umweltverträglichkeit und Reaktorsicherheit, da keine gesundheitsbedenklichen Reaktanden oder Betriebsmittel in größerer Menge verwendet werden müssen. Die Ausgangsstoffe Natriumcyanid, Natronlauge, Methanol, Chlorgas, Cyanamid und Natriumhydrogensulfit sind bekannte Chemikalien.
Zu Neutralisation des Dimethylimidocarbonats in der zweiten Stufe und zum Neutralhalten des pH- Wertes in der dritten Stufe wird eine für diese Zwecke geeignete Säure, bevorzugt Salzsäure, einge- setzt:
Die Reaktionstemperaturen können bei der Durchiuhrung des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens in einem größeren Bereich variiert werden. Die erste Stufe wird im Allgemeinen bei Temperaturen zwischen -50°C und 0°C, bevorzugt zwischen -25°C und 0°C, besonders bevorzugt bei -5°C durchgeführt. Die zweite Stufe wird im Allgemeinen bei Temperaturen zwischen -20°C und 0°C, bevorzugt zwischen — 10°C und 0°C, besonders bevorzugt bei -5°C durchgeführt. Die dritte Stufe wird im Allgemeinen bei Temperaturen zwischen -20°C und +30°C, bevorzugt zwischen -5°C und +20°C durchgeführt.
Bei der Durchführung der ersten Stufe des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens setzt man pro- Mol]. Natriumcyanid im Allgemeinen 0,8 bis 1,5 mol, vorzugsweise 0,9 bis 1,3 mol, besonders bevorzugt 1,0 bis 1,2 mol an Natriumhydroxid und im Allgemeinen 2 bis 10 mol, vorzugsweise 2 bis 5 Mol, besonders bevorzugt 3 bis 4 mol Methanol sowie im Allgemeinen 0,8 bis 0,97 mol, vorzugsweise 0,85 bis 0,95 mol, besonders bevorzugt 0,90 bis 0,95 mol Chlor ein.
Chlor wird bevorzugt in leichtem Unterschuss eingesetzt, um die Bildung von unerwünschten Nebenprodukten zu minimieren. Überraschender Weise wurde gefunden, dass bei Aufleiten des Chlors höhere und stabilere Ausbeuten erhalten werden, als beim Einleiten des Chlors.
Unter „Aufleiten" im Sinne der Erfindung wird hierbei verstanden, dass das Chlor in den Gasraum oberhalb der flüssigen Reaktionsmischung eingebracht wird, während sich beim „Einleiten" das Ende des Gaseinleitungsrohres unter der Flüssigkeitsoberfläche befindet. Beim Aufleiten werden also Konzentrationsspitzen an der Gasemleitungsvorrichtung vermieden. Die Aufnahme des Gases (hier Chlor) erfolgt über die Flüssigkeitsoberfläche des Reaktionsgemisches.
Die Reaktionszeit der ersten Stufe ist nicht kritisch und beträgt zwischen wenigen Minuten und mehreren Stunden. In Abhängigkeit von der Ansatzgröße und der Wärmeabfuhr beträgt die Zeit für das Aufleiten des Chlorgases zwischen 1 h und 20 h, in der Regel zwischen 5 h und 10 h. Bei der Durchführung der zweiten Stufe des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens setzt man pro Mol Natriumcyanid im Allgemeinen 0,5 bis 1,5 mol, vorzugsweise 0,6 bis 0,9 mol Salzsäure ein. Es können aber auch andere Mengenverhältnisse gewählt werden.
Die Neutralisation bei der Durchiührung der zweiten Stufe des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens ist abgeschlossen, wenn ein pH-Wert der Reaktionsmischung im Bereich von pH 6,5 bis pH 7,5, bevorzugt von pH 6,8 bis pH 7,2, erreicht ist.
Die Neutralisation des Dimethylimidocarbonats in der zweiten Stufe wird bevorzugt kontinuierlich bei Verweilzeiten bis maximal 30 min durchgeführt.
Die kontinuierliche Fahrweise ist vorteilhaft, weil hierdurch das neutralisierte Dimethylimidocarbonat ausreichend stabil bleibt, um in der Folgereaktion ohne Ausbeuteverlust eingesetzt werden zu können. Eine diskontinuierliche Fahrweise ist grundsätzlich auch möglich, doch muss hier mit geringeren Ausbeuten als bei der kontinuierlichen Fahrweise gerechnet werden.
Die kontinuierliche Neutralisation wird in einem Schlaufenreaktor mit einem geeigneten Kreislaufverhältnis zwischen umgepumpten und aus der Schlaufe abgeführten Volumenstrom durchgeführt, um die hohe Neutralisationswärme bei den bevorzugten Verweilzeiten in der Schlaufe abzuführen. Die kontinuierliche Salzsäuredosierung in die Schlaufe wird dabei regelungstechnisch so gesteuert, dass der gewünschte pH-Wert Bereich während der gesamten Neutralisation eingehalten werden kann.
Bei der Durchführung der dritten Stufe des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens setzt man pro Mol Natriumcyanid im Allgemeinen 0,6 bis 2,0 mol, vorzugsweise 0,7 bis 0,9 mol an Cyanamid ein.
Das in der zweiten Stufe neutralisierte Dimethylimidocarbonat wird innerhalb von 20 bis 120 min, vorzugsweise 30 bis 90 min in die vorgelegte Cyanamidlösung eindosiert.
Im Falle einer kontinuierlichen Neutralisation wird direkt aus der Neutralisationsstufe im oben genannten Zeitraum ohne Pufferung das neutralisierte Dimethylimidocarbonat in das Cyanamid dosiert.
Bei Dosierung des neutralisierten Dimethylimidocarbonats in das vorgelegte Cyanamid wird der pH- Wert durch Zugabe weiterer Salzsäure neutral, vorzugsweise im Bereich von pH 6,5 bis pH 7,5, besonders bevorzugt im Bereich von pH 6,8 bis pH 7,2, ganz besonders bevorzugt bei pH 7, gehalten. Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren wird im allgemeinen unter Normaldruck durchgeführt. Es kann aber gegebenenfalls auch unter erhöhtem oder vermindertem Druck gearbeitet werden.
Im Folgenden wird die Aufarbeitung (vierte bis sechste Stufe des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens) beschrieben.
Bei der Durchführung der vierten Stufe des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens können als Extraktionsmittel alle für derartige Reaktionen geeigneten, mit Wasser nicht mischbaren Lösungsmittel einge- setzt werden. Hierzu gehören vorzugsweise aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie beispielsweise Benzol, Toluol, Ethylbenzol, Xylol oder Decalin; halogenierte Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie beispielsweise Chlorbenzol, Dichlorbenzol, Dichlormethan, Chloroform, Tetrachlormethan, Dichlorethan oder Trichlorethan. Besonders bevorzugt wird Toluol verwendet. Dasselbe Extraktionsmittel wird dann auch in der sechsten Stufe verwendet.
Zu Reduktion der oxidativ wirkenden Nebenverbindungen in der vierten Stufe wird ein für .diese Zwecke geeignetes Reduktionsmittel, bevorzugt Natriumhydrogensulfit, eingesetzt.
Bei der Aufarbeitung geht man im Allgemeinen so vor, dass man die nach Abschluss der dritten Stufe erhaltene DCC Suspension zuerst mit Toluol, dann mit Natriumhydrogensuliϊt zur Reduktion oxidativ wirkender Nebenprodukte versetzt und einer Klärfiltration zur Entfernung nicht-produkthaltiger Feststoffpartikel unterzieht. Anschließend werden die Phasen getrennt, die wässrige Phase gründlich nachextrahiert und die vereinigten toluolischen Phasen zur Trocknung und Entfernung von Blausäurespuren destilliert. Die erhaltene Lösung von DCC in Toluol, vorzugsweise mit einem Gehalt zwischen 10 und 15 % kann direkt in Folgestufen, z.B. einer Wirkstoffsynthese (vgl. unten) eingesetzt werden.
Aufgrund der Labilität des DCC gegenüber Hydrolyse wird die oben beschriebene Aufarbeitung kontinuierlich durchgeführt, um Produktabbau zu vermeiden. Eine diskontinuierliche Aufarbeitung ist möglich, führt aber zu Ausbeuteverlusten.
Das nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren erhaltene DCC ist ein bekannter Synthesebaustein für substituierte Cyanoguanidin-Verbindungen, die nach weiterer Umsetzung in Verbindungen mit insektizider Wirkung überfuhrt werden können (vgl. z.B. EP-A 0235 725) Herstellungsbeispiel
Natriumcyanid (95%ig, 169,1 g, 3,28 mol) wird in 635 ml Wasser auf -5°C gekühlt. Anschließend tropft man wässrige Natriumhydroxidlösung (45%ig, 320,0 g, 3,6 mol) und 372 g Methanol (11,6 mol) zu und leitet danach bei -5°C innerhalb von 10 h Chlorgas (222,0 g, 3,13 mol) auf. Man rührt weitere 16 Stunden bei -20°C weiter und neutralisiert dann innerhalb von ca. 30 min. mit Salzsäure (20%ig) bis ein pH-Wert von 7,0 erreicht ist (380 ml, 2,3 mol Salzsäure).
Die Suspension wird innerhalb von ca. 30 min. bei -5°C in eine vorgelegte Lösung aus Cyanamid (110,0 g, 2,62 mol) und Wasser (233 g) dosiert, wobei der pH-Wert mit Salzsäure (20%ig) auf pH 7 gehalten wird. Anschließend lässt man die Temperatur in 1 h auf +15°C steigen und rührt eine weitere Stunde bei dieser Temperatur. Über die gesamte Nachrührzeit wird der pH-Wert mit Salzsäure (20%ig) auf pH 7 gehalten. Die während Dosierung und Nachrührzeit verbrauchte Salzsäuremenge (20%ige Lösung) beträgt ca. 150 ml.
Zur Aufarbeitung wird die Suspension mit Toluol (660 g), Celite 545 (6 g) und Natriumhydroj-] gensulfit (80,4 g, 39 %) versetzt. Man rührt 30 min bei Raumtemperatur, filtriert den Feststoff ab, trennt die Phasen und extrahiert die wässrige Phase zügig zweimal mit Toluol (jeweils 430 g) nach. Die vereinigten organische Extrakte werden anschließend destillativ getrocknet und von Blausäure- spuren befreit.
Man erhält 1646 g (13,6%ig, 75 % der Theorie) an Dimemylcyani idocarbonat (DCC).

Claims

Patentansprüche
1. Verfahren zum Herstellen von Dimethylcyanimidocarbonat (DCC, 3,3-Dimethoxy-2-aza- prop-2-ennitril) der Formel (I)
dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man
in einer ersten Stufe Natriumcyanid in wässriger Natronlauge mit Methanol und Chlorgas umsetzt und
in einer zweiten Stufe das so erhaltene Dimethylimidocarbonat (Dimethoxymethanimin) der Formel (H),
neutralisiert und
in einer dritten Stufe das so erhaltene neutralisierte Dimethylimidocarbonat der Formel (H) in eine vorgelegte wässrige Lösung von Cyanamid (Airiinomethannitril) einleitet, wobei durch gleichzeitige Zugabe einer Säure der pH-Wert neutral gehalten wird.
' 2. Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass in einer vierten Stufe oxidativ wirkende Nebenverbindungen in Gegenwart eines Extraktionsmittels reduziert werden,
in einer fünften Stufe nicht-produkthaltige Feststoffpartikel durch Klärfiltration entfernt werden und
in einer sechsten Stufe das DCC der Formel (I) gemäß Anspruch 1 durch Extraktion und Destillation aufkonzentriert wird.
3. Verfahren gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass in der ersten
Stufe das Chlorgas aufgeleitet wird.
4. Verfahren gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Neutralisation und oder Aufarbeitung kontinuierlich durchgeführt werden.
5. Verfahren gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass zur Neutralisa- tion Salzsäure verwendet wird.
6. Verfahren gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Chlorgas aufgeleitet wird und die Neutralisation und/oder Aufarbeitung kontinuierlich durchgeführt werden.
7. Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass zur Reduktion in der vierten
Stufe Natritimhydrogensulfit eingesetzt wird.
