Definitions
- the present invention relates to the use of a particle jet of dry ice particles for adjusting the electrical conductivity of a coating of a machine component, which can be varied by pressure in its electrical conductivity, in which the particle beam is guided over the surface of the coating.
- Such methods of adjusting the electrical conductivity are also called conductivity blasting methods. They are used in particular for adjusting the conductivity of turbine components, in particular of gas turbine components.
- a gas turbine in the simplest case comprises a compressor, a combustion chamber and a turbine.
- the compressor In the compressor there is a compression of sucked air, which is then admixed with a fuel. Combustion of the mixture then takes place in the combustion chamber, with the combustion exhaust gases being supplied to the turbine, from which energy is withdrawn from the combustion exhaust gases and converted into mechanical energy.
- the compressor is typically driven by the turbine and includes a plurality of compressor blades.
- compressor blades When compressing the air in the compressor, water is precipitated which, in combination with other elements contained in the air, can form an electrolyte which can lead to corrosion and erosion on the compressor blades.
- a coating consists for example of a base coat and a top coat.
- a coating which comprises an inorganic binder of chromium-phosphate compounds and contains, for example, spherical aluminum particles is suitable as the basecoat.
- Such coatings are disclosed in EP 0 142 418 B1 or in EP 0 905 279 A1.
- chromium phosphate compounds can be used on an aqueous basis with inert fillers and Farbpigmenttechniken.
- the protective effect of the coating is that the aluminum embedded in the base coating together with the (more noble) metal of the turbine blade forms a galvanic cell in which the aluminum forms the anode, the so-called sacrificial anode, so that the oxidation or corrosion takes place in the aluminum and not on the metal of the turbine blade.
- the galvanic cell must have a closed circuit.
- the sprayed base coat after curing, the spherical aluminum particles are isolated from each other and the base material of the turbine blade by the cured chromium-phosphate compounds. The curing of the base coat must therefore be followed by adjusting the electrical conductivity of the base coat.
- the setting of the electrical conductivity of the base coat is usually done today by means of a blasting process in which particles, for example corundum, are blown onto the base coat.
- the impinging particles ensure that the chromium-phosphate compounds break up and the aluminum particles are compacted.
- deformation of the aluminum particles usually follows as well. These processes cause the aluminum particles to come into contact with each other as well as with the base material of the turbine blade and thus produce a closed circuit when an electrolyte is present.
- DE-A-205 87 66 shows a cleaning method for metallic, radioactively contaminated surfaces of precipitates by means of an ice jet. For slightly soluble precipitation on the surface, a use of dry ice is also proposed.
- DE-C-196 36 305 discloses a method for removing coatings and coatings from a sensitive pad. It is about coverings such as soot, moss, pollutant deposits and highly viscous, non-impact or impact-resistant coatings of substrates such as wood, plastic foams or sandstone. By means of a dry ice blasting method, a gentle removal of the coverings or coatings from the sensitive substrates is possible.
- the object of the present invention is to provide an improved method for the conductive blasting of a coating of a machine component, in particular of a turbine component, for To make available.
- This object is achieved by the use of a particle beam of dry ice particles for conductivity blasting according to claim 1.
- the dependent claims 2 to 10 contain advantageous developments of the invention.
- a particle beam is passed over the surface of the coating in order to exert pressure on the coating.
- a particle beam with dry ice particles i. a dry ice stream, use.
- the adjustment of the conductivity can serve in particular for increasing the conductivity.
- the inventive method is particularly suitable for carrying out on rotors of turbines equipped completely with turbine blades. Due to the omission of the disassembly of the rotor, the downtime can be shortened in case of revision.
- sand blasting for example with corundum as particles
- corundum grains for example by means of adhesive films or other means, such as metal sheets.
- dry ice blasting neither damages the blade substrate nor other metallic surfaces or assemblies, so that, in contrast to the use of sandblasting, no protective measures are required to protect adjacent assemblies.
- the dry ice treatment cleans the surface, as any possible contamination by grease, oils and loosely adhering layer areas are safely removed.
- the dry stone itself causes no disturbing residues as a radiation agent, so that a cleaning process after blasting is not necessary.
- disturbing remnants of radiation must be removed from the irradiated machine components, which requires extensive washing, wiping or blowing off.
- the conductivity of the coating present after completion of the conductivity beam in other words the resistance of the coating after the conductivity blasting, can be determined by varying the beam parameters used.
- the beam parameters during dry ice blasting are preferably selected such that no abrasive removal of the coating takes place, so that the coating thickness is not changed by the conductivity blasting.
- the beam parameters in the case of conductivity radiation can be chosen such that the resistance of the coating between two measuring probes, which are 30 mm apart, after conductivity radiation is not more than 250 ohms, for example 50 ohms or less, in particular not more than 15 ohms is.
- the jet pressure and / or the beam spacing from the surface of the coating to be irradiated and / or the jet duration with which the surface is irradiated are suitable as beam parameters.
- the appropriate parameter values depend on the type of nozzle used for the irradiation.
- the jet pressure may in particular be approximately in the range of 300 to 1200 kPa (3 to 12 bar), the beam distance from the surface to be irradiated approximately in the range of 10 to 80 mm and the jet duration, with a certain surface portion is irradiated, approximately in the range of 2.5 to 80 seconds.
- these parameters can also be exceeded or fallen short of.
- Suitable parameter values when using a Laval jet nozzle are, for example: jet pressures in the range of 300 to 400 kPa (3 to 4 bar), in particular 350 kPa (3.5 bar); a beam distance from the surface to be irradiated in the range of 40 to 80 mm, in particular from 55 to 70 mm; and a beam duration with which a certain surface portion is irradiated, in the range of 50 to 80 seconds, in particular of 60 to 70 seconds.
- jet pressures in the range of 300 to 400 kPa (3 to 4 bar), in particular 350 kPa (3.5 bar); a beam distance from the surface to be irradiated in the range of 40 to 80 mm, in particular from 55 to 70 mm; and a beam duration with which a certain surface portion is irradiated, in the range of 50 to 80 seconds, in particular of 60 to 70 seconds.
- parts of the machine component which are sensitive to cold are protected against the thermal action of the dry ice before the particle beam is guided over the surface of the coating.
- rubber-like seals may make such protection seem necessary in order to avoid embrittlement of the seals.
- the method according to the invention for conductive blasting of a coating of a machine component can be integrated in particular into a method for new or recoating of turbine components.
- Such a re-coating or re-coating process may include the application of a basecoat and a topcoat.
- Conductivity blasting then occurs on the base coat prior to application of the top coat. It is advantageous if the surface of the base coat is dried before the application of the top coat. In this way it can be avoided that water ice residues on the surface of the base coat the application of the Affect the top coat. Water residues can be caused by dry ice blasting of the primer coating cooling the component and therefore condensing air moisture on the surface. With strong hypothermia, water ice can form on the surface of the component. However, the water or the water ice dries without further measures already at room temperature, so that the drying can be realized in the simplest case already by a certain waiting time.
- the method according to the invention can in particular be designed as a method for the conductivity blasting of coatings based on chromate / phosphate with dispersively distributed metal particles, for example aluminum particles, as disclosed, for example, in EP 0 142 418 B1 or in EP 0 905 279 A1.
- Suitable metals for the dispersively distributed metal particles are metals which can be used as a sacrificial anode with regard to the material of the machine component and which condense and deform in a jet treatment analogously to the behavior of the aluminum particles described at the outset.
- FIG. 1 shows a detail of a turbine blade 1 during the conductivity radiation.
- the turbine blade consists of a blade body 3, which is made of a base material.
- a basic material For example, 12 to 16 percent chromium (nickel) steel comes into question.
- the blade body 3 is also provided with a base coat 4, which is applied to the base material, for example by means of a spraying process.
- the base coat 4, which in the exemplary embodiment has a total thickness of 25 micrometers or more, in the present embodiment comprises an inorganic binder of chromate-phosphate compounds and dispersively distributed metal particles, for example spherical aluminum particles as a pigment.
- Coatings based on chromate / phosphate, which comprise dispersively distributed metal particles and are suitable as base coating, and the composition of such coatings are disclosed, for example, in EP 0 142 418 B1.
- EP 0 905 279 A1 discloses similar chromate / phosphate based coatings which may further comprise a pigment. The coatings described in these references are therefore referred to with regard to possible primer coating compositions.
- a conductivity blasting of the base coat 4 takes place in order to convert the coating, which is not or only slightly electrically conductive after application, into an electrically conductive state.
- a movable nozzle 7 which is guided over the surface of the base coating 4 and is designed in the present embodiment as a Laval jet nozzle, dry ice particles 8 (CO 2 particles) with a jet pressure of 300 to 400 kPa (3 to 4 bar) the surface of the base coat is blown.
- a break-up of the chromate / phosphate compound solidified after application and a compaction and deformation of the spherical aluminum particles take place.
- the beam spacing i. Distance of the nozzle 7 from the surface of the coating 4, when using a Laval jet nozzle in the range of 40 to 80 mm, in particular in the range of 55 to 70 mm, and the duration with which a surface area is irradiated, is in the range of 50 to 80 seconds, especially from 60 to 70 seconds.
- the parameter values suitable for conductivity adjustment may differ significantly from those of a Laval nozzle.
- the suitable parameter values can be determined empirically for the nozzle used, for example.
- the resistivity of the coating 4 could be reduced to 15 ohms when the jet pressure 350 kPa (3.5 bar), the beam distance from the surface of the coating 70 mm and the jet time with which a surface portion is irradiated are 60 seconds to have.
- a 10 ohm resistance could be achieved if the jet pressure was 350 kPa (3.5 bar), the beam spacing was 55 mm, and the jet duration was 60 seconds. In the latter case, however, there was also a slight removal of the coating. This parameter set should therefore not be used if the removal of the coating should be completely ruled out.
- the measurement of the conductivity of the base coat 4 is carried out by means of two probes, which have a distance of 30 mm from each other. It measures the resistance that the base coat 4 opposes to a current flow between the two probes.
- the topcoat 9 comprises, for example, chromate / phosphate compounds with inert fillers. It is applied in the present embodiment in the form of an aqueous solution to a thickness of 5 to 15 micrometers and allowed to cure.
- Coatings based on chromate / phosphate with inert fillers which are suitable as topcoats, and the composition of such coatings are disclosed, for example, in EP 0 142 418 B1 or EP 0 905 279 A1.
- the coatings described in these references are therefore referred to with regard to possible compositions of the topcoat.
- the base coat 4 comprises only a single layer. However, it is also possible that the base coating 4 itself is composed of two or more layers.

Description
- Fig. 1 zeigt in einer schematischen Darstellung einen Ausschnitt aus einer Turbinenschaufel als einem Maschinenbauteil während des Leitfähigkeitsstrahlens;
