Claims (8)

  1. Method of manufacturing a knitted fabric with weft thread insertion on a flat knitting machine, characterised by the steps:
    a) needles (3), in whose hooks (31) a weft thread (5) is to be inserted, are extended,
    b) the weft thread (5) is inserted into the hooks (31) of the extended needles (3),
    c) the needles (3) are retracted until the weft thread (5) located in the needle hooks (31) rests on one of the stitch forming edges (21) adjacent to the needle (3) in question,
    d) stitches are formed for the knitted fabric with at least one knitting thread, whereby the needles (3') adjacent to the needles (3) with an inserted weft thread (5) are moved back over the weft threads (5),
    characterised in that the needles (3') adjacent to the needles (3) with an inserted weft thread (5) are raised over the needle base (11) at least sufficiently for the undersides (32) of the needles to slide over the weft thread (5).
  2. Method according to claim 1, characterised in that the needles (3') are raised over the needle base (11) by a knitting cam (10) on the flat knitting machine or by switchable cams or ramps at the needle base (11).
  3. Method according to claim 1, characterised in that the needles (3') are raised over the needle base (11) by means of the secured weft thread (5).
  4. Method according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the weft thread (5) is pressed downwards so that the undersides (32) of needles (3') adjacent to the needles (3) with an inserted weft thread (5) can slide over the weft thread (5).
  5. Method according to claim 4, characterised in that the weft thread (5) is pressed downwards by pressure plates.
  6. Method according to claim 4, characterised in that the weft thread is pressed downwards by using appropriate knitting techniques to manufacture the knitted fabric.
  7. Method according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the weft thread insertion is performed by means of a Standard Thread Guide (NFF).
  8. Method according to one of claims 1 to 7, characterised in that the weft thread (5) is inserted into the hooks (31) by empty needles (3) and / or by needles (3) carrying stitches.
